Rei Tōma (Japanese: 藤間 麗,Tōma Rei) has been drawing since childhood, but she only began drawing manga because of her graduation project in design school. When she drew a short-story manga, "Help me dentist" (ヘルプ me デンティスト), it attracted a publisher's attention and she made her debut right away. Her magnificent art style became popular, and after she debuted as a manga artist, she became known as an illustrator for novels and video game character designs.
Dawn of the Arcana is her first long-running manga series, and it has been a hit in Japan, selling over a million copies.
Oh wow! This twists in the one were wild! Y’all I was not expecting on of it. I think the pacing in this one was a little off especially because of the time jump. I think the mangaka could have done a better job shifting what was going on with Nakaba and Caesar. Either way, I’m excited to see where this story is going to go next!
4.5 stars rounded down to 4 stars... this series has always had a pacing problem but this just revved too fast - it feels like a hurry to tie the end up swiftly!
Princess Nakaba of Senan and Prince Caesar of Belquat marry to seal a peace treaty between the 2 nations sharing the same island. Caesar is ready to hate Nakaba before he even really meets her simply because this is a political marriage and she has red hair instead of the royal black. Then he starts to get to know Nakaba and she totally changes his point of view. And he realizes maybe red hair is something special after all...
Both Caesar and Nakaba have to make some hard choices this chapter... Akhil is reeling from his brother's death (though I love how Azhal faced his death) and she realizes her power will not miraculously overcome all... like Caesar having to put her aside, she will have to do the same to gain political power.... sad to see this reality coming to the surface of this story!!
Very quickly we learn Nakaba traded her power for marriage to Adel... she uses her eyes to look in on Caesar and she misses him... he too misses her and worries that they can never be together (their marriage is annulled). I like Nakaba would love to learn more about her father! Why are those doors locked?! (Her mother said her father was like a child...)
The Extras were all very cute!!
BOTTOM LINE: The story is tying up loose ends to end the series...
OMGGG what is this?? This is a freaking 20 min read max!!!! I want like a MEGA MANGA BOOK OF ALL OF THE ARCANA VOLUMES!!!!! So Caesar goes back to Belquat & he lets Bellinus tell his mother the report, & his attendant says that Nakaba got lost so his shit ass mother wants him to marry Louise - Cain' his dead brother's wife? or were they not married? But anyway, so they get married & meanwhile, Nakaba had to deal with picking either Akhil or his brother to live - one of them was gonna die & she spoke to his brother (i'm forgetting his name) & he said it was fine so Akhil is saved - she returns to Senan & makes a bargain - she'd use her powers if she was allowed to marry Prince Adel, who she's known since a child - so they're married & he comes to her one night & kisses her & figures out she's still a virgin & in his twisted weird way, I think he cares for her a bit - but whatever cuz Nakaba & Caesar all the way - so they've both married different people but she did it to take control of Senan - she sees an avalanche in the future & goes to the village to warn people & evacuate them & she sees that a girl was left in a cave somewhere - she's s little boy's friend & so she goes to save the girl herself - & THAT"S IT!!! AND I JUST LOVE THE ARCANA HIGH SCHOOL EDITION! IT'S ADORABLE!!!

there's a lot of people calling this volume rushed which okay, fair. i really loved it though! mostly because i am eternally weak to stories of girls who keep getting hit in the face by society/magical powers/destiny and decide it's time to fight back. look at the steely look nakaba's wearing now, i love it. 3.5 stars
This volume was quite a mess. The story is as rushed as it's ever been with plot happening with no build-up or development. There was a time skip which was pretty badly handled. Nakaba married her cousin and Caesar married his dead brother's wife because the plot needed it apparently. The story is so underdeveloped that there isn't thorough reasoning for anything that happens, it's just happens and then next event happens.

Nakaba has seen the fate of Akhil and his brother. She doesn't know how to prevent it or the price to be paid if she does. I feel for Nakaba; the power to see the future and other things I feel could be useful. But in her case, there always seems to be a price that needs to be paid if she changes the course of her visions. I can see how she feels that the pay is useless when seeing what happens never seems to prevent anything bad from happening.
My heart hurts for both Nakaba and Caesar. They are a part and doing what they feel needs to be done. It's sad to not see them together now.
I hope they will get things worked out and hopefully be able to reunite.
I must admit there was a rather weird plot twist, involving a rather confusing time jump however, if you stick with the time jump the plot yet again becomes very addictive. I'm not a big fan of how Nakaba's character changes, she is becoming rather annoying but thankfully she shows more vulnerability, which gives me hope that her character will change once again back to a sweet personality that she once was rather than the stone faced person she becomes. Overall, very good plot development in this one.
An absolutely devestating turn of events!! Caesar and Nakaba are seperated in their own respective countries, they both remarried to try and take back their countries but both still love each other and are miserable alone. Nakaba is guilty over the decision she made with the Princes and so was Akhil, who looks awesome on this cover! 3 months pass and Nakaba's new hair is a bit to get used to...but she is using her Arcana for the good of the people! The volume ends on a rescue mission. I like the angst but am already hoping for a sweet reunion between the pair.
The plot is plotting, but the pacing could not have been any worse. Like what the actuall hell was this??? One second we were here doing that and next chapter boom elsewhere and something completely different was going on.
MEEEH. Worst volume so far me thinks, and even the emotional stuff is losing impact because there's zero time to deal with it - or it just happens and zipzap everyone is doing something else.
I am excited to see just how this plot will culminate. Can the pacing get even worse as the plot attempts takeoff?
The ramifications of choice show why the Arcana of Time is no miracle.
Story: ★★★★☆ Art: ★★★½☆
Nakaba makes hard choices in this volume. So much changes in their lives. With their romantic lives diverging, it’s hard to see how anything can be salvaged. It is nice, though, to see Nakaba embracing her power instead of fearing it. As with any choice, there will be ramifications from being so brazen now compared to hiding her arcana in the past. But I like this Nakaba better.
We skipped ahead in time a bit in this volume, which sets Nakaba and Caesar on a path to working towards peace. I like how this volume was done, and following the two main characters separately. I liked having more chapters with Caesar and also knowing what is going on in both parts of their island. Looking forward to the ending in three volumes.
Well… shit. I wasn’t expecting that to happen mid volume.. But I want Caesar and Nakaba back together already!!!!! Wahhhhhh!!!
And the bonus chapters this volume were perfecto!!!! I hope Batal is LONELY AF without Elaheh. Serves him right!!! I freakin love the Arcana High chapters. So funny to see the characters in a high school setting.
I'm definitely enjoying the intrigue more and I felt the stigmas toward the Ajin-human hybrid children were interesting. I still find Loki creepy and I think it's weird that all the people with Arcana are teaming up together, but all in all, it is interesting.
Wow oh wow. Volume 10 is full of shocking twists and so much heartache. I honestly love seeing Nakaba struggle with her emotions. I also enjoy the 3 month time skip in this volume. Best to blow over most of the background work.
You know, I'll give Miss Rei Toma some points for having the gall to not only separate the two leads, giving their marriage an annulment, but then to also have them both marry other people... I'm guessing the fanbase was deeply upset when they read that haha.
