Promotions director Reese Regan isn’t a sex goddess and doesn’t want to be. But when she's offered a job with Sex Goddess, Inc., she must complete the company's wildly popular Sex Goddess 101 program. Trying only to avoid the unemployment line, not to become Chicago’s next seductress, she never expected the infamous “steps” might work.
Reese’s sexy, off-limits best friend Ben Hawk helps her “fake” her way through lingerie shopping, phone sex, and seduction lessons. The passion that flares between them might be hotter than their friendship can withstand. And the idea that he only wants the “new” her? That's definitely more than her heart can stand.
Will faking something so important cost her a chance at something real?
Award-winning author Lexi Ryan is a New York Times and USA Today bestseller of hot contemporary romance and sexy, action-packed YA fantasy. Her books have sold over a million copies. A former English professor, she considers herself lucky to have traded stacks of grading for emotionally charged storytelling. She is happiest when at home in Indiana with her husband and two children, where you can find her lifting weights, reading copiously, hanging out with her family, and thanking her lucky stars.
Ryan's writing was, as usual, top notch but the plot was a bit sketchy, and the ending, rushed. Plus, I felt it distasteful, not to mention confusing, to have the 2 Hawk brothers in the running for Reese's affections right up to the end. Oh well.
Totalmente recomendado.
Reese is the girl everyone loves, but doesn't realize her worth. Ben is the good guy who wants his best friend, but doesn't want to lose her. They have a past that needs to be faced before they can move forward with each other. Throw in a little sibling rivalry, a buttinski boss, a jerkoff ex-boyfriend and now you have a story!
I love a friends to lovers romance. They are my favorite type of romance to read. And this one is a perfect example of a good friends-to-lovers book. It had everything - emotional investment, emotional growth, a friendship that extended to family, sibling rivalry, a non-drastic makeover and wow sexual tension. My stomach was in knots reading this book as I rooted for Ben and Reese. I really wanted them to work through everything, work out everything. Their friendship was years long, and their past revealed as flashbacks throughout the book so you never feel like you are getting an info dump all at once just to make the book make sense. Ms. Ryan does a great job fleshing out Reese, Ben and the secondary characters. You feel for them and the situations they were put in. You understand where they are going and you pull for them to go in the direction you just know they should head. And the scenes are hot! Even when they aren't having sex the scenes are hot. Really hope that Masey and Mark get a story (please?) and even Halie.
The good stuff first: * still love this author's voice and can't wait to read more of her work * the ending was phenomenal * great cast of secondary characters - lots to love, hate, find funny, hope for future HEAs, etc. * real people, real jobs, real problems * best phone sex scene ever
What held me up a bit: * The love triangle was a bit squicky for me; I don't like them in general * I also had some "enough already!" thoughts about both Reese and Ben and their various protestations
It was funny and dramatic at times, however I didn't really feel the huge connection between Ben and Reece. I felt flames go up around Mark and Reece though. Which is weird because the book is mostly about friends falling in love starring Ben and Reece.
This was a book of contrasts. On the one hand, it was sexy and romantic and hot enough to melt my iPad. On the other, it was an honest and upsetting; a real glimpse of the everyday mess of relationships and the lengths some women go to change themselves. There is Ben and Reese, Reese and Mark, Ben and Mark, Ben and his father…See what I mean? This book is in no way one-dimensional when it comes to characterization. There were even times I didn’t like some of the characters; they weren’t acting the way characters in romance were supposed to.
Romances are supposed to be lollipops and rainbows (as a friend of mine says), with the author showing the best of each character, not making me uncomfortable with their actions! These characters, however, were full of self-doubts, failed dreams, broken hearts, and disappointments. It reminded me all relationships–familial or romantic–are messy and take work. And you should never have to change yourself to satisfy someone else’s idea of what is “best” for you. You do what you feel is right. I don’t always get that from stories, but I understood it clearly from the start with this one.
Now, don’t be worried. Lest you think this book was bogged down with hidden meanings, it wasn’t. There were so many hidden facets beneath the comedy. IT was a good romantic comedy. The characters were likable and funny. The story flowed from page one. I didn’t have moments where I was guessing what was happening next or skipping pages to hurry it along. I fell into the story and stayed with it, even through the uncomfortable parts.
There was a quote in the book that I really liked, too:
“Half of it is this wonderful, progressive look at women’s identities and self-esteem that allows them to really examine what they want for themselves and go after it in a way that is both healthy and ambitious.
The other half is this tired cliche, helping women find their worth through the eyes of men. I’m not saying it can’t be about feeling sexy. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with finding pleasure in being desirable…But if women can’t leave it feeling good about themselves…it’s not much of a program at all, is it?”
The heroine realizes the benefits of the Sex Goddess program but understands the problems and misconceptions it provides as well. Other romantic stories would have kept to the sexy and funny tone of the book, ignoring that obvious fact. However, the author acknowledges the mixed messages of changing yourself for others, while trying to find your true self. And she presents it in such a way to make it understandable to all women and yet entertaining at the same time. This book hit all the right notes for me–funny, sexy, realistic; a definite read.

I like the set-up for this one, but it proceeded in a way I was not at all expecting. So Reese is offered a new job, with the stipulation that she complete Sex Goddess 101, a program that helps women gain sexual confidence. She's not very into it, but her best friend Ben convinces her that she can fake her way through. I'm thinking this will be a classic friends-to-lovers meets makeover story. I guess it was, because Reese does make her way through the program, and she does get a makeover, and it appears to make men notice. Ben has long had a torch for Reese, and he didn't need her in the program to know that he wanted her.
What felt weird to me was that Ben is supposed to be her best friend but they never actually seemed that close. They hang out at the bar together, they have several friends in common, and so on, but it didn't ring true to me. And it took a long time for me to believe their chemistry. I didn't like Ben's excuse for not pursuing Reese before (there's a Big Reason when they first met and then an excuse). And there was so much baggage and drama with secondary characters, and I never really liked any of them. So this was not a straight-forward plot, and I did appreciate the way that the secrets and conflicts were slowly revealed through the book.
This is a beautifully written story that's a blend of friends to lovers and a second chance romance. Ben is such a sweet guy while his brother, Mark, comes across as an over-bearing ass. But Reese knows there's another side to him. While she's got an attraction to Mark, her heart has always been with Ben.
I really enjoyed this story and seeing how Ben and Reese worked their way from best friends to much, much more! If you love a great story with all the feels, this ones for you!
I rad this book around 5 years ago and loved it! i would recommend it to friends but after a while i forgot the name of the book and could only remember the premise. i have been looking for this book for 4 years and im so happy i was able to find it again!!!
Ok, la historia es buena, o algo así, no me gustó lo del hermano, siento que hizo falta more drama ahí (mi drama queen ha hablado), pero no podía dejarlo de leer.
I loved it! Loved the friends to lovers story line, the slow burn build up and the characters. The whole ugly duckling thing could have been boring but wasnt, a nice fresh take on that.
Reese Regan's life hasn't exactly been going the way she has wanted it to: her manipulative ex-fiancee Lance left her six months ago because she was a disappointment in bed, and he also left her with a condo mortgage; she has an old POS sedan that breaks down more than it runs; the dating scene has been brutal with dates that leave her disenchanted; and she has been laid off from her job at a local Chicago radio station that she's had for six years. Now a friend of her sister Tricia has offered her a promotions director position with Sex Goddess, Inc. on one condition, that she completes the company's Sex Goddess 101 program. Can her life get any worse?
Ben Hawk has been best friends with Reese for the past six years. Before their friendship, they shared a secret intimate history, but they decided to have a strictly platonic friendship instead of letting personal intentions get in the way. Now Ben regrets this pact that he made with Reese, he fantasizes about her but knows he can't act upon them, especially since Reese is attracted to his bad boy brother Mark.
Ben agrees to help Reese complete the Sex Goddess 101 program, he tells her that she can "fake" her way through the ten steps in the program. What they don't realize is that through the program, Reese will be embarking on a journey to find her inner goddess that will ultimately redefine the way she lives her life.
Can an insecure woman who has self-esteem issues transform into an accidental sex goddess? Can friends become lovers, or will secrets destroy the close relationship that Ben and Reese have shared?
Accidental Sex Goddess is a sassy romantic story of one woman's journey to transform the way she views herself and lives her life, with a steamy friends-to-lover subplot added into the mix. Author Lexi Ryan weaves a witty tale of family issues, romance and steamy sex scenes written in the third person narrative that engages the reader to follow along with Reese and Ben as they go through life's ups and downs that come with family and love relationships.
This is so much more than a steamy romance that the author is known for. Lexi weaves a story about realistic life issues such as self-esteem, self-doubt, family issues, disappointments, broken hearts and personal growth that the reader can easily identify with and relate to. This multi-layered story identifies issues that plague women in regard to their self-image and how they are portrayed in their relationships with men in a witty, fun and sexy style. I must admit that I really loved the ten steps that make up the Sex Goddess 101 program, it provided a lot of food for thought, where do I sign up?!
I would be remiss if I didn't mention the mutual attraction triangle between Reese and brothers Ben and Mark, and their own difficult family dynamic. This part of the story peaked my interest, who wouldn't love to have two sexy men attracted to them? Send them both my way ... lol.
With a realistic cast of characters; witty dialogue and quirky interactions; and an entertaining storyline that keeps the reader turning the pages; Accidental Sex Goddess has it all: romantic comedy, steamy sex scenes, and it provides a food for thought message of self-worth for every women to ponder!
Accidental Sex Goddess will bring out your inner sex goddess, it is simply a deliciously entertaining read!
Accidental Sex Goddess is the first book in the Accidentally Sexy series.

Tired of always dating the wrong man? Lacking sexual appeal or needing a new look? Then look no further than Sex Goddess 101, a program guaranteed to make you a "Sex Goddess". With likable characters, snarky dialogue and plenty of sexual heat, Lexi Ryan's second chance romance, Accidental Sex Goddess, grabbed my attention and never let go.
Getting Sex Goddess 101, Chicago's newest and most renown business, to be a sponsor at a charity event should be easy for promotions director, Reese Regan. When Halie McCormack, the owner, and her sister's best friend, suggests Reese needs to sign up and pass her program, Reese politely tells her no. She's sure she's not "Sex Goddess" material. When her job suddenly lays her off, Reese finds herself back at "Sex Goddess 101" and given a job offer she can't refuse and becoming a client is part of the job.
Contractor Ben Hawk can't believe his best friend Reese Regan has let herself be talked into going to work for "Sex Goddess 101". He's always thought Reese was sexy, but they both agreed their friendship was more important than their mutual attraction. Agreeing to help her pass her class as she "fakes it", Ben finds himself helping Reese pick out new lingerie and realizing how he really feels about his best friend.
The scenes between Reese and Ben are full of simmering and repressed passion, fun dialogue and plenty of emotional angst. Perfect for each other, they've both questioned the wisdom of their "friends only" agreement. While neither is wiling to risk losing what they have, staying friends won't always be an option.
Ms. Ryan did an excellent job with both Reese and Ben's emotional development and we get the history on their friendship through flashbacks into the past. We get to see where they were, where they are and where they should be going. I also enjoyed how Ms. Ryan showed Reese, through Halie's "rules", that being a "sex goddess" and getting what you want in life comes only through belief in oneself and the desire to want more.
Will Reese realize she's had the power to be a "Sex Goddess" all along? Will Reese and Ben take a chance and be more than just "friends"? You'll have to read Accidental Sex Goddess to find out. I enjoyed this introduction to the Accidentally Sexy series and can't wait to see whose story we get next.
Down on her luck and laid off from work Regan gets a great opportunity to work at Sex Goddess Inc., at a price of course. Hailie, also the CEO and founder, wants her enrolled in Sex Goddess 101. Ben, her best friend and the guy who she had been in love with, told her to fake it. Soon Reese is doing the program and finds she is not faking it, but actually liking the change that is happening. Ben, who had told her he didn't want anything, but friendship starts to want to get sweaty, naked and be more than friends once her loser ex-boyfriend dumps her. He knows he will have to work for it since he hurt her before. Reese didn't expect to be caught between two brothers. There is a secret from the past that may put a damper on things, but not for long.
This book had me wanting to take Sex Goddess 101. I could completely relate to Regan. Always the friend... just one of the guys. Not fully feeling comfortable in your body or at least not seeing others admire it and want you. She hides behind her snarky comments and finally when she puts her doubts aside, the beautiful person she was finally comes to light in her eyes. Thinking she only wanted hot lusty sex and no meaningful relationship, she was thrilled to go after Ben's brother, Mark. What she doesn't realize is Mark is tired of being the "Radio Personality". He actually really likes her and wants more as well.
I loved how Ryan gave us the background of how Reese and Ben came to meet and how it all unfolded. The banter back and forth plus the fighting of the attraction to stay "just friends" turned up the sexual tension between them. I wanted to conk Ben over the head maybe once. When they finally give in, the years of holding back explode into fiery passion and hot sex. I love friends turn to lovers and even more I love when they get their Happily Ever After. I will give Ryan kudos since I also enjoyed..... O.k. fell for Mark and Luke, even though they were secondary characters in this book. I am sure that I know who Mark will get with so hurry up writer lady. I want the next book.
Friends to lovers stories are my favorite kind and Lexi Ryan has written one that's immensely entertaining. Accidental Sex Goddess has long-time friends Reese and Ben, who've flirted with a relationship, are having a hard time finding someone when their connection to each other remains strong. After a run of disappointments, both personally and professionally, Reese ends up taking a course that will turn her from a plain Jane into a sex goddess and before she knows it she has the attention of both Ben and his brother Mark. She starts off with low self-esteem and I enjoyed seeing her bloom into an assertive woman who FINALLY went after what she wanted.
Ben too took forever to make a move on Reese. It's not until Mark expresses an interest that he's finally willing to take a chance on true love. This sibling rivalry was realistic and I liked Mark, the REAL Mark not his playboy persona and their interactions brought a mischievous smile to my face.
From the very start there's much sexual tension between Reese and Ben. After many starts and stops it's not until late in the book that they finally culminate their affections. These scenes are steamy and well worth the wait though. In lieu of actual sexual interludes are many sexually enticing verbal exchanges that are playful and highly suggestive and I found these exchanges to build-up the sexual tension further.
With its delightfully sexy banter and immensely satisfying sexual tension I was drawn to this book from the start. The entire cast of characters are entertaining and likable and for all that they're easily relatable too. Accidental Sex Goddess is another in Lexi Ryan's writing cap and I highly recommend it!
The friends to lovers theme is the best yet in my opinion. I love all that sexual tension and the unacknowledged chemistry and Accidental Sex Goddess really does not disappoint in the slightest. Reese Regan has just lost her job and in order for her to land another one, she has to enroll in a self esteem course entitled Sex Goddess 101. Reese doesn’t think going through a ‘makeover’ is worth it just to further her career but after seeing her co worker talking it up to a curvaceous blonde at the bar one night, she decides to go for it. But it isn’t only Mark Hawk who gets bowled over by her transformation. Mark’s brother Ben has been in love with Reese ever since meeting her all those years ago and after a failed attempt at a relationship Reese and Ben agreed that it was better if they were just friends. Well, neither of them wanted to be just friends but neither of them had the courage to do anything about it until the Sex Goddess (her new boss) made Reese into a knockout. But what Reese doesn’t know until it’s almost too late is that it wasn’t the clothes or the new haircut that made Mark or Ben take notice, it was her newfound self esteem. But both Reese and Ben have secrets that could destroy their newfound love. Can they entrust that their fragile new relationship will withstand the truth? Combined with this theme that I cannot get enough of, Lexi Ryan has written remarkable sex scenes that were truly steamy. Now, they really do not have sex until later in the book but the interrupted sex scenes where they almost consummate adds an additional mind blowing element to the plot.
On my list of Favorite Romance Themes, Friends to Lovers is right behind my favorite, which is Second Chance Romance. This "Friends to Lovers" romance was so much fun to read. Reese had been in love with Ben for years, but after a hook-up gone wrong, they decided to just remain friends, but his brother, Mark, was available to pick up the pieces of Reese's broken heart, and six year later, he was willing to do it again.
Ben's point of view was so much fun to read, especially when he talks about his feelings for Reese, and when he has his jealous moments...he was just too cute. I love getting the heroes POV in a romance, and Lexi did an amazing job and making me fall for him, one page at a time.
Lexi Ryan writes a fun, very sexy, ugly duckling story, which catches your attention from page one and to be honest, kept me up until two in the morning. You can't help but cheer for a HEA for Reese, who is trying to find her inner Sex Goddess, using two very sexy brothers as bait...but which one will she keep?
I am sooooo excited for the rest of the series. I can't wait to see who Lexi matches up next? I am hoping to see Mark find his HEA...I am in LOVE with THE HAWK!!
Accidental Sex Goddess is a fun, funny, sexy and heartwarming read. With Reese who does a great job at being a promoter hides her insecurity in her own self worth with snarky comments and to big clothing. Ben is Reese's best friend, he is attracted to Reese but is afraid to take the step beyond friendship. Add to the mix "Hawk" Ben's older brother, a sex goddess seminar, phone sex and a bubble bath and you get this charming read.
I found Reese easy to relate to and I love Ben and Hawk and the sibling rivalry, I thought that Ms. Ryan did a fantastic job showing multiple sides of each character and each plot point. I loved the friendship that Ben and Reese shared and watching the feelings that had always been there surface and evolve. I think that there could have been a couple fewer misunderstandings on the parts of both Ben and Reese but overall it was a smooth read that I read from beginning to end in one sitting.
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. Reese was a wonderful character. She was not perfect, but Ben saw her that way. The only thing Reese lacks is self confidence. In a strange turn of events, Reese loses her job at a radio station and still goes to a planned meeting with a possible sponsor of a radio station event. The owner of the company that Reese is meeting with has a class called Sex Goddess 101. It teaches women to have confidence and go after what they want. The owner, who is a friend of Reese's sister, offers Reese a job in exchange for going through the class. The story revolves around the changes in Reese and how Ben, her best friend handles them. He never thought she needed the class and that she was perfect as is. The story of Reese and Ben is a really funny, sexy read. I would recommend this book.
