桐华，原名任海燕子，中国言情小说作家、影视制作人、词作者。中国文坛言情小说“四小天后”之一，被封为“燃情天后”。毕业于北京大学。2005年从中国到达美国，创作第一部小说《步步惊心》在网站连载，2006年正式出版。2011年凭借《步步惊心》改编影视剧名声大噪。 其小说《云中歌》《大漠谣》《最美的时光》等被陆续改编成影视。 2013年，桐华参与策划电视剧《金玉良缘》、 《抓住彩虹的男人》。

Ren Haiyan, known by her pen name Tong Hua or Zhang Xiao San, was born in 1982. She is one of the most famous contemporary romance novelists in China.

She graduated from Peking University and came to America in 2005. She currently lives in New York. In 2013, Hua co-wrote the television series Perfect Couple, which is currently in production.

It was a very typical romance story with all of the cliche plot elements making it predictable. There were logic problems and most times the emotions are forced. Character would be in total agony half a page ago then forgive everything; which is not believable not matter how much they are in love. I found the background stories boring. It just feels like, words -too many words- are used just to invoke empathy. Overall, I did not feel it was well crafted, but the story is there. It has a web novel, amateur feeling.

I feel I should be very bothered that they do not consider the marriage as anything...well as anything. Everyone else in that world seems to value marriage...enough...which makes both of the disregard for the marriage very scummy. This is a total extramarital affair and in broad daylight!! Everyone knows of it, but no one says anything. Even that sister in law who clearly value marriage and can't stand polygamy.

On a different note. Personally, I wish there was more of the politics.

This novel is so intriguing. This kind of world building is not new for me since I have been a fan of wuxia novels and I have already read Ten miles of peach blossom and Three lives three worlds: the pillow book and other similar novels. However this novel has its owm charms. Its such an intriguing love story such charming dialogues and exceptional writing style and ofcourse Jing 🥰...
Going to start with the next book ASAP.

DNF. The tropes are kinda cliche, I don't like romance (especially angsty romance unless it is beautifully heartbreaking), and the writing isn't good enough for me to get through three of these thick books.

Đã biết trước là SE nhưng vẫn cứ đâm đầu vào. Hết tập 1 là ngửi thấy mùi ngược, tập 2 chắc chắn là ngược tơi bời hoa lá luôn. Thương Xi Viu và A Hành, những tưởng có thể gạt bỏ trở ngại mà bên nhau thì hiểu lầm lại chồng chéo âm mưu, đẩy 2 người ngày một xa nhau 😢😢😢
