Help and Hope for Those with Congestive Heart Failure is a remarkable guide for answering this and other questions, in particular: how do you 'get' heart failure and can you somehow prevent it? who are the groups at risk? how can you find out what kind of heart failure you have? what can be done to ensure efficient and cost-effective diagnosis and treatment? This extraordinary book is written as a primer for patients, families, and professionals alike-to serve as a resource to better understand one of this country's major healthcare problems and covers many crucial topics.
Very very out of date as of 2019. I would not recommend a new heart patient read it as there have been so many advances in treatment and prognosis. I would have been much more scared and upset if this were the first book I read after being diagnosed.
Success with Heart Failure educated me as a wife whose husband was just diagnosed with heart failure at the age of fifty. Silver completely described what lead up to heart failure, to the diagnoses, to what has followed. Reading his book has made me better understand what heart failure is, how to live with it, and even though my husband feels this is his problem, that I need to support him and I'm hoping he will get to the point that he will let me.
