Travel through the willful possession ceremonies of the Death Masquerade, the after-hours investigations of iconic locations such as the Sorrel-Weed House and learn the details behind the exorcism of the home deemed the most psychically active residence in North America. Savannah Shadows has all this and more, including an expanded section on one of the most chilling phenomena in supernatural science; The Hag. I took one of Tobias’ Blue Orb tours years ago and bought this book. This was my second time reading it and it remains one of the most interesting and terrifying books I’ve read. His logical approach, healthy skepticism and general sensibility make the stories more credible and therefore more frightening than fiction. I love this book.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who's planning to visit the very haunted city of Savannah. I just got back and Mr. McGriff's collection of tales and personal experiences was a wonderful supernatural guide to the city.

Having just done a ghost tour through Blue Orb, I was a little disappointed that this book didn't include more of the locations and stories we heard that evening, as I would have liked additional details. There's a pretty big section about voodoo that doesn't even take place in Savannah. It was interesting, I guess, but I was looking for more Savannah-specific stories. The formatting of the Kindle book isn't the greatest; photos aren't captioned (although I don't know if they are in the print edition either), and they don't always seem to go with the chapter where they appear. This book could also have benefited from a more diligent proofreader, as there are many errors in spelling and grammar. (I know that doesn't affect the content, but it's an unnecessary distraction while reading.) Overall, I'm glad I read it, but it was disappointing in that there wasn't enough about Savannah and its rich heritage of hauntings.

One third of the book was missing

It's hard to read a book when every 3rd or 5th page was blank. It would have been nice to get a complete book.
