What can I say I think Bijou Hunter is a genius, I love this series I faithfully stalk her till another book is out so that I can buy and devour it right away. And people say stalking is bad(psh) I say it comes with benefits, I was one of the lucky few who got to beta read this book and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE of it so much so that though I was given a copy of this book I just bought my own because 1) I love this author, and 2) I love this book and series. I already am needing book 3 yesterday. Bijou writes effortlessly it's so easy reading her books they flow like butter. She writes her men amazingly and I always(which doesn't always happen) love her heroines.

Lark has known pain her brother who she loved dearly died, her sister left her and her mother chooses her husband every day over Lark. Even though Lark is an adult she is treated like a child with the threat of being kicked out of her house, and with not enough money to go to college and have her own home she picks college. While at her friend Farah's wedding rehearsal she see's Aaron, Coopers friend and she wants nothing more than to talk to him but never finds the chance then the next day at the wedding Aaron comes with a date. Now months later a unfinished tattoo may be the perfect reason to go see Aaron.

Aaron has been friends with Cooper since they were kids, when he see's Lark at Coopers wedding rehearsal and wedding he knows right away that she is it for him but never gets the chance to talk to her. So when Cooper tells him about Lark's tattoo he knows this is it, When he finally see's her again he agree's to meet her at a restaurant to talk about the tattoo. When Lark doesn't show up Aaron is devastated and leaves but on his way out he see's Lark walking to meet him.

Lark and Aaron instantly connect and want to spend more time together, and quickly find themselves falling in love, but Lark's over protective family stop her at every turn and makes it known that she will have no home if she continues with her relationship with Aaron. Now Aaron and Lark are forced to decide what they want most but when Lark finally stand up to her family she finds that it isn't as easy to walk away as she thought it would be.

I so loved this book I hated finishing it because I didn't want to say goodbye to everyone I have grown to care about so much. Though this book is lighter than the first two it didn't detract from it's awesomeness one bit, and I think that was a brilliant idea with the length of this book. I think that had she tried to make this book as heavy we would have missed to much and it's obvious that Bijou didn't want to skimp or do her characters injustice and she didn't at all. I wouldn't change this book one bit. She had me in tears reading the epilogue and that's the sign of a great author.

Bijou does a great job at showing enough of the characters yet to come to make me salivate for their stories. She can make you hate a character( and want them to suffer painful deaths) then fall in love with them and want nothing more than for them to be happy. The gang is all together again and it was great seeing where they were, and seeing who is to come I loved Aaron he knew Lark was it for him and he was willing to wait for her, she was it for him and no other girl would do. Lark was strong though all she had been dealt in life and I completely believed that she was head over heals in love with Aaron.

Not only did I love Aaron and Lark but Bailey and Nick also shined in this book, I laughed throughout this book with the things Bailey said. Nick intrigued me like not many have in a long time the few times he is in this book brought new insight and question about Nick so much so that I want to fast forward the months so that I can read his book, or better yet lock Bijou away till she finishes more books, unfortunately the law looks down on those kinds of things (*double sigh*). Bijou is everything right with the self published world. She is an auto buy author for me that I always anticipate new release from.

"Sounds about right," he muttered, rolling another strike. "Girls get PMS. Guys get ball toxins."

Why are they walking around like that?" Bailey cried. "The babies will fall out and I'm not cleaning anything."

4.5 stars Another amazing read by Bijou Hunter. This is Aaron and Lark's story. This one was a bit shorter than the others and not quite as dramatic. Although these are standalones with a new couple in each, the group of friends and family is the same. So with each book we get to catch up and spend time with previous characters. I love this group of friends. You feel like you know them and they are the friends I want to go and hang out with. In the first book I really didn't like Bailey but with each book, she is becoming one of my favorite characters. Can't wait for her book. There is so much humor in all of these stories. Lark's story was sad although not as bad as the previous heroines. Aaron is not as OTT as the other heroes but their love was no less. They both know very early on that they are it for each other. I am a huge fan of insta-love and I don't think anyone does it quite like BH.

Aaron Barnes has found his muse, Lark Foster. He first saw his muse at his best friends wedding only to have unsuccessfully be able to ask her out in the few times he has seen her since.

Lark has a crush on Aaron but has not mustered up the courage to talk to him. When she asks about getting her dismal tattoo fixed, she gets her opportunity. Aaron and Lark are together from the minute she goes out with him, however Lark's step-father wont allow it. Aaron doesn't want to sneak around and when it comes down to choosing family or Aaron, Lark makes a decision that will change her life forever.

Up there in favorite books in the series. Aaron was not quite the he-man as some of the other and I enjoyed that. He is not part of Coopers MC, more just a best friend. All the favorites are in the series as well. Enjoyable story.

This book was a bit of a disappointment, compared to the first two. As much as it pains me to say this, I kind of thought that Bijou Hunter had lost her mojo with this one. First off, the whole premise of Lark being an adult living with and under the thumb her douche step dad, and putting up with his abuse when she didn't need to, seemed totally ridiculous. Lark was WAY too easy giving into sex with Aaron. Aaron was too sickeningly sweet and mushy, and he sounded like a woman when he talked. Blech. And Cooper was equally embarrassing with the way he droned on about being in love. He's supposed to be taking over an MC club, seriously? Bailey wasn't even as funny as she was in the other stories. This one just didn't hold up to the others in the series. Lucky for me, I started the next one and it's MUCH better than this one. Hunter got her mojo back for the next story.

Nice Guys Finish First

This is the third in a series of connected books. The book can be read as it stands but it will be a richer experience if the previous books are read first to provide context. There is no cliffhanger but the series continues after this book.

Lark is woman who smiles even as her world crumbles. Smiling in the face of adversity is her coping mechanism. She attends the same college as Farah but Tawny gets to know her when they work together as waitresses and introduces her to the group. Lark doesn’t have an easy life. Her mother has provided her with several step-fathers that were just as bad as her birth father who died in prison. The latest in a long line of charmers is Larry who at least has money and doesn’t do drugs or gamble. However, he is completely controlling.

Aaron is an unusual man. He’s Cooper’s best friend and a tattoo artist. He’s got a strange preppy style combined with crazy tattoos and being capable of taking a punch. His parents are members of the Country Club and adore their son and think his artistic bent is fantastic, but Cooper has been his friend since he was young and his influence, as the heir to the local MC, is obvious.

Aaron and Lark meet at Cooper and Farah’s wedding rehearsal as they are both in the wedding party. There’s definitely insta-lust when they meet but they never get a chance to talk on their own. When they meet again it’s a case of insta-love. It’s sweet, and both these very nice people who are also pretty feisty when necessary click in a big way. They just have to deal with Larry and his son.

This book is a lot lower in angst levels than the previous two books because both of these characters are pretty nice people who recognise they have met their perfect match early on. Lark is damaged but nowhere near as badly as the Smith sisters.

Reading this book after the first two was quite soothing as it was straightforward and not too harrowing. There was lots of romance and passion and the odd bout of violence to keep the blood pumping during the story. I genuinely liked both these characters a lot and would love for them to be real. I like to picture them hanging out at the roller derby or Aaron’s tattoo studio, and know they are happy in their life choices.

Let me start by saying that I LOVE this author. I am not a fan of the previous books but I like the world Ms. Hunter has created. It is the reason I keep reading this series. The characters are the best, at least some of them, and I find that they stay with me long after I've finished the book. First, let me start with Cooper. I liked Cooper in the first book, loved him in the second, and want to marry him by this one. Second, I HATED Bailey in the first, tolerated her in the second, and absolutely adored her in this one. There is a scene where she goes to Lark's house, gets on a table and throws a tantrum. I was laughing reading that part. Just brilliant!! Ms. Hunter please give her a HEA. Now, let me go to Nick. I have liked him since the first book but in this one he became my fantasy. He comes to Aaron's shop to get a dragon tattoo on his back and he does cage fighting. I'm practically salivating. I want his story NOW NOW NOW!!!! If I don't get it soon I'm going to throw a Bailey-style tantrum. I actually want a story for Dylan. I believe if Ms. Hunter can redeem Bailey, she can do the same for him. I was indifferent towards Vaughn until I read a quote Ms. Hunter posted of him which has to do with Raven. I almost fell out of my chair, HOLY HOTNESS!!! I want more H's like Cooper who are dominant, possessive, protective, and stalkerific. I found Aaron to be too sweet and Lark was fine. But Vaughn sounds amazing, just like a slightly unstable stalker which is how Cooper was in the first book. I can't wait for more of the Damaged series.

this story had such potential with its really great plot and extremely appealing characters, and it was a book i was looking forward to more than any other book in the series, only to find it was a rushed, disorganized mess with grammar errors all over the place and no real plot. i don't think bijou even tried here. you couldn't say there was any effort in the writing or structure at all. i had a hard time believing this was written by the same bijou hunter that wrote the rest of the damaged books. i felt like i was cheated out of a great story here, because bijou is a great author. i hadn't given up on bijou because like i said, she can write and she's done way better.

I tried twice but could not connect with the heroine.
Aaron deserved someone better.
I felt that too much was thrown at once. Secondary characters all introduced at once. The writing felt scattered.
You may love it. Reading is subjective.

This book was provided by Bijou Hunter in exchange for an honest review.

Overall the series is very enjoyable. This is the third book I've read in this series by Bijou Hunter and by far my least favorite. Still, it's a good read, and although it states that it is a novella the length is definitely longer; this is more like a full length novel.

Short Synopsis:
Lark: makes her first appearance in this series as the co-worker and soon-to-be friend of Farah from Denny's. She's somewhat quite, shy at times but has the heart of a fighter, and determined to be more than the product of her environment.

Lark is a complicated young woman. She comes from a challenging background that supplies her with the face of the 'Joker'. With a smile always plastered across her face no really knows what really lies behind the mask. Living with her mother, a controlling step-father and sketchy step-brother, has not been an easy feat since her sister Raven left her high and dry only a few months earlier.

Unlike all of the other women in Lark's family, she has vowed to be her own woman; she wants to depend on no one but herself by making her own money, going to college, and finally landing a job that isn't in the service industry.

Aaron: is introduced earlier in the series as the extremely HOT tattoo artists that is best friends and co-owner of the tattoo shop with Cooper. Unlike all of the other man that appear in this series, Aaron is a good guy that runs the straight and narrow.

With his intriguing artistic abilities and panty-dropping good looks, Aaron has most women in the town stumbling over themselves to have their chance. But after a horrible heartbreak a few years back he grips his armor closer to his heart--even if his inner soul calls for a true love.

Neither Lark nor Aaron are prepared for the instant and uncontrollable connection that sparks between them when they meet at Farah and Cooper's wedding. Although they barely speak with one another, both are spellbound by their attraction and unusual connection, and attempt to find ways of being together again. For Aaron, Lark is the muse and love that he's been searching for, and for Lark, Aaron is her refuge. He is becomes the reason for her happiness, the reason she feels needed and loved.
 photo tumblr_mcsdimW0hC1rjpl2xo1_500_zps2a7012e7.gif

Finally fate--whom they thought was keeping them apart--steps in and these two trouble and somewhat broken souls find one another. Their relationship blooms fast, and before you know it they are moving in together, making plans for the future, and talking about forever. After so many doubts, heart breaks, family plagues, and a multitude of other obstacles that make their appearances, Aaron and Lark enjoy the life that continues to unfold before them.

The Best Thing:
I really like the overall series. I enjoy being introduced to a character and later read their story of trials and tribulations.

For this particular book I took great pleasure in seeing Lark finally find someone that made her want to stand up and fight for what she wanted, someone that put a 'REAL' smile on her face, and someone that she could build a life with. It really sucked that her mother--like so many of the parents in this series--really showed no remorse or understand of how she'd failed her daughters.

Most of all I was happy that I got a HEA, even if it was a little over the top with how fast everything progressed.

The Worst Thing:
While I like this entire series, I have to admit that I'm over the damsel in distress. I hate that every last one of these girls has had a horrible past/present and needs a man to make them feel whole. While I may love and enjoy how they find happiness and love with men who make them feel safe, I'm not sure if it's the best message to put out there. The message can easily be interpreted as (happiness and feeling complete only happens once you've found your love). And all of these men just so happen to rescue the young women from their horrible circumstance. Again, it's great to read a HEA and get away from some of the realities of the world, but the pattern/message throughout this series is kind of bothersome.

Finally, the one thing that really captured my attention and raised my eyebrows was the speed in which these two moved. Aaron and Lark's relationship moved like lightening. One minute they are on their first date and the next they've already had sex, moved in together, said I love you, made vows to love and be together forever and even get pregnant. All of this was accomplished in less than six months.

 photo escalated_zps613438ae.gif
(unless I missed the timeline somewhere).
Because of the speedy delivery for their relationship I often wondered if the author was just trying to hurry and completed this particular book.

Overall:
An enjoyable series. I liked the first two books better, but really enjoy all the characters and their personalities. A definite read if you want a pick-me-up (HEA) after a troubled storm.

A little bird breaking free

Lark hasn't had an easy life and there is no light at the end of the tunnel while she is still living at home with her mum, horrible step dad and slightly creepy step brother, who totally doesn't see her as a sister. That is until she is a bridesmaid and meets the enigma that is Aaron. Rough looking with tattoos but a gentle soul he is thrilled to spot Lark as he knows instantly she is his muse. A great read of courage and love

Meh. Their insta love was too much for me. These two have barely spoken to each other and they immediately go to bed and declare true love. The relationship felt too Jr High. Things did pick up after a while. H and h were good together.

It was OK but not great.

Not my favorite

I really just didn't enjoy Aaron and Lark much. Their story had some good points and was sweet but almost too sweet. I kept waiting for a major problem to happen and it didn't. I like the first 2 books much better. I think I just like bad boys the best!!! It still had some funny parts though. Definitely not a bad read!!

Loved it, it was such a fun book to read. I will say the storyline was similar to the first book in the series. Lark is to funny and Aaron is to cool for words. The characters from the first book are back while adding Lark's sister to the crew. So funny totally 5 stars.

I really liked this book. I liked how, once Lark made up her mind, she didn't allow anyone to change it. She just followed her heart. I adored Aaron, he was so sweet, supportive, caring, protective. Lark was very relatable (or at least I found her to be relatable). Raven and Bailey had me laughing out loud. #BallToxins #AaronAndLark #HisMuse #Curls #ProfessorAndPollack #Babies

“My family is low class, but I’m a loyal person,” I said. “Like I don’t steal or lie or anything.”
Aaron frowned at me. “Why did you just tell me that?”
“You looked like I might run off with your wallet.”
Smiling slightly, he leaned back and studied me. “More worried about you running off with my heart.”
-Aaron and Lark

Despite her love of pineapple on pizza, Lark was perfection. I felt like a love starved moth drawn to the light of her smile.
-Aaron's thoughts about Lark

“Say you’re beautiful,” I whispered, stroking her.
“I’m beautiful.”
“Good,” I murmured, kissing her jaw then moving south. “Say it again.”
-Aaron and Lark

“I can’t believe you can create such beauty.”
“I can’t believe I’m finally looking at my beauty. You can’t see it, Lark. I know you can’t. Maybe it’s a girl thing or your shitty family or you do see it and are just fishing for compliments, but you are too beautiful to get right on paper. No matter how much I try,” I said, cupping her face, “I can’t make my art look nearly as perfect as you.”
“Shit,” she whispered. “Did you just think that up because it was fucking brilliant?”
Before I could answer, little Lark stepped up as far as she could on her tippy toes, pulled me down to her, and kissed me hard and deep. The girl claimed my breath like she’d already claimed my heart. No way was I imagining all of her wonderful qualities. I wasn’t that damn creative.
-Lark and Aaron

Cooper nodded. “I’d so do this shit, if Farah let me.”
Vaughn made the sound of a snapping whip and the whipped guys frowned at him. He just smiled. “Ah, having control over my balls is so wonderful. You boys should beg your women to let you have them back for the night. Maybe if you promise to do the dishes or wash the floor or some other shit job, they’ll agree.”
“Vaughn,” Cooper said, giving his enforcer a dark glare, “when you meet a girl and lose your mind over her, we’re going to enjoy mocking you. I mean, it’ll be a fucking sport and we’ll trip over each other to be the next one to screw with you.”
“Hell, if I ever lose my mind over a girl, I’ll be too fucking stupid to care what you assholes say. Likely, I’ll have suffered a brain injury or some shit. In that case, you’ll be mocking a disabled man and that’s not cool.”
“He has a point,” Tucker said like he was sensitive now.
“You’re all idiots,” I muttered. “It’s rather frightening how any of you will carry on your defective genetic material into the future generation.”
“Said the guy who got his girlfriend pregnant on accident,” Vaughn said and high fived Tucker.
-The boys

His name was Aaron and he was the answer to all my prayers.
-Lark's thoughts about Aaron

“Men suck,” Bailey said, nodding supportively then frowning at Vaughn. “Why do you suck so much? Too much ball toxins?”
“Sounds about right,” he muttered, rolling another strike. “Girls get PMS. Guys get ball toxins. Common knowledge.”
-Bailey and Vaughn

Her name was Lark and she was my muse.
-Aaron's thoughts about Lark

“I heard you’re having dinner with Lark,” she said, wiggling her eyebrows. “Hurry up and marry her, so we can double date and annoy Vaughn.”
“Can’t you double date with Tawny and Judd?”
Cooper and Farah laughed. “Yeah, right,” they said in unison, causing me to wonder if their brains had merged from too much sex.
“If I have my way, Lark will be mine.”
“He’s stalking her,” Cooper told Farah. “Draws pictures of her naked too.”
Farah laughed and pated my cheek. “Romantic.”
“Clearly, I’ve fucked her brains out,” Cooper said and she gave him the pissed wife look.
Sighing, he lowered his gaze and mumbled, “Yes, ma’am.”

It says that this book is a novella but there are something like 39 or 40 chapters. It reads like a novel so don't be put off by it saying novella.

Lark lives with her mother, step-father and step-brother and until recently her sister, Raven. The stepfather is a controlling ass. Her mother is only happy with the step-father and could really care less what her children need. Lark and her sister had a brother who died when they were suppose to be watching him. So it really left an impact on Lark. The step-father and step-brother square off with Lark’s sister, she gets into a physical fight with the step-brother and decides it time to leave. Lark has lost her best friend and has to endure living there without her. Lark wants to go to college to make something of herself and not end up depending on a man as her mother does. She doesn’t want to be a waitress and have nothing. So she goes to college and pays for it by working in Dennys. Her step-father has his son watching her every move (it’s weird) because he has a thriving car business, is somewhat wealthy, and is respected in the community so his step-children will obey and live the way he demands. So … even though the step-brother works and has a career, she follows Lark around. The only way Lark can stay in school is by living at her step-fathers house. She cannot afford to pay for school, apartment, food etc. So she deals with the unhappiness to meet her goal.
Lark first met Aaron at Farahs rehearsal dinner although they didn’t get the chance to speak to each other. Then at the Wedding reception, Aaron shows up with a date but only has eyes for Lark and she wants desperately to speak to him and get to know him. It doesn’t happen because fate keeps getting in the way. When they finally get the opportunity to talk they are really smitten with each other. (They fall for each other really, really quickly). The obstacle is her step-brother and step-father. If they want to be together than Lark has to make some decisions. Will she decide to be with Aaron and stand up for herself or will she cave and hope to meet Aaron again after she completes school.
This is there story. It’s cute, loveable and as a couple they rock. They are little mushy but there are really funny parts in there and I enjoyed the story. I look forward to the next.

Lark & Aaron's story was rocky at first but smoothed out towards the end. I've loved all the books in the Damaged series. I believe it's due to the fact that I get a HEA. Granted, Lark didn't have it nearly as bad as Farrah & Tawny, she did have some shit to go through to get to Aaron. Her creepy step-brother & controlling step-dad weren't making it easy. Aaron had an issue thinking his Muse was going to hurt him like a former bitch did. That was squashed, though. I really enjoyed this book. There wasn't a back & forth at ALL, like in the previous two. What Lark & Aaron have is real. There's two songs that kept playing in my head while reading their story. First song is Mariah Carey's Love Story & the second would be Neo's Lazy Love. For obvious reasons, haha. I am glad to see Tawny & Farrah with their loves. Coop still runnin' things, like the Boss that he is. (Yum) I love Lark's sister, Raven. I think her & Bailey are going to be the bestest of friends. I love this series. Happy for the Artist & his Muse.
