Rounding up a star for the art. Have read this up through Vol. 11, mostly as e-manga from my library, most convenient. It's not done developing, so I can't really make a conclusion on the storyline. Very shojo, reminiscent of both Fruits Basket and Kamisama Kiss. Girl inherits (maybe) a remote country house rumored to be haunted, actually occupied by supernatural entities charged with maintaining the boundary between our world and the Other. Hijinks ensue. A little bit Beauty and the Bishonen Beasts. Lots of eye candy.

This was a really intriguing, cute, sometimes over-the-top introduction to a series that I feel like has a ton of potential and I can really foresee myself loving. There's a lot of lore at play here that I'm assuming we've barely scratched the surface on, and it doesn't hurt my excitement levels any to realize that my library's app has the next dozen-ish volumes, so I know I have a lot of story ahead of me! Oh, and the artwork is beautiful!

This was enjoyable enough. It definitely reminded me of Kamisama Kiss where we have a main character that encounters paranormal entities in a house that she's supposed to live in. In series like this, I'm always interested in seeing the paranormal characters; however, the structure of the story can sometimes get a bit redundant. I'm not even sure that I will be able to continue this series because the first few volumes are impossible to find. I really did enjoy the artwork, but this isn't necessarily a story that captured or kept my attention even if it was a quick read.

I'm going to be honest with you ... I 100% picked this one up because the guy on the cover reminded me of Shiro from the Red Winter trilogy by Annette Marie ...

unfortunately ... Shiro he is not ...

This manga was ... well ... silly dramatics

and let's just say if I walked into a house I inherited and there were squatters there ... much less larger male squatters ... I'm pretty sure I wouldn't deal with that shit on my own and just hang with them ... even though (as the MC says way too many times really soon) they are gorgeous ... um ... gorgeous people can be murderers too ya know ... police maybe?

I guess we will see where the story goes because it intrigues me ... minus the meeting story which was not handled well at all I think.

also we have this falling in love thing coming into play WAY too fast and ... a bit creepy but in a lighthearted way ... which actually does not make it any better to me.

On her 16th birthday, orphan Himari Momochi inherits the ancestral estate she’s never seen. Momochi House exists on the barrier between the human and spiritual realms, and Himari is meant to act as guardian between the two worlds. But on the day she moves in, she finds three handsome squatters already living in the house, and one seems to have already taken over her role!

The art drew me right to this volume! (Take a look at that cover! It is only a taste... and the black and white drawings are just as gorgeous...) Of course I was intrigued by the premise as well, but the art was perfection, it is too luscious and rich! I LOVE clean and crisp art that is easy to understand and decipher what is going on even during fights. Their expressions are quite telling. I did miss some of the typical background textures... but I almost love the clean design more?! #mangaloverconflicts

I was a little unsure of Himari in this volume. I had volume 2 that I could delve right into and have that uncertainty relieved... but if you are only going off this volume then do not fear! She seems like your stereotypical manga female at first but quickly we see that there are depths hidden by her wonderful nature. That depth is hinted at in this volume when she doesn't hesitate to "throw" them out of her house. I really appreciate the idea that her personality has two sides!

I was in love with the duality of Aoi and Nue right from the first! I LOVE that they each take their own form and yet their retainers see them as one. There is a truth hidden in that relationship that I found intriguing. I really hope we learn more about these two as well as the little Ayakashi that are roaming around the house!! At this point Aoi and Nue are a mystery as we focus on Himari settling in... but we are given a hint as to his situation by the end.

This was not the most nail biting of first volumes. I was captured by the characters and I want to know more but the plot was silly and stereotypical in a way that was worrisome. I could have guess everything that was going to happen and did happen. It wasn't bad but it could be improved. The premise is so, so smart that I wanted a little more from the mangaka. This house on the border between the earth and spirit realms can and should be more unexpected and different.

⋆ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Authenticity
⋆ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tension
⋆ ⋆ ⭐⭐⭐ Plot
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Art

BOTTOM LINE: A series with SOOOOO much potential... I'm going back in for volume 2!

*Review based on part of the series (ch. 1-15) since it is still ongoing

Clearly the art is nothing short of gorgeous, but unfortunately this is the only redeeming quality about this manga so far. The female protagonist is completely helpless and unbearable, each chapter is incredibly repetitive (the first volume especially), and the overall plot is lacking (not much happens in all four volumes honestly).

I've caught up to however many volumes is serialized in English, but I'm not that eager to continue with the rest of the series for now. However, Aoi's past and Aoi's relationship with Kasha has made me somewhat curious-maybe enough to potentially pick this back up someday (I feel like these mysterious arcs won't be explored in the story any time soon anyway).

Full series review to come soon!

Why I read this: I has a pretty cover and I was in the mood for some shoujo.

What I thought:Nothing really life changing in this book. But I didn’t read it because I thought I was going to get much out of it. It’s fun fluff with tiny, cute monsters.

It’s standard fair for shoujo. There is a girl that lets herself get wrapped up into a weird situation by gorgeous boys. They boys each follow a type (sweet boy, reckless boy, and smart boy). The difference this time is that the girl is picking the sweet one. Thankfully!

All in all, it’s good for what it was. I wanted fluff and I got it. I’m going to continue reading it as well. The art is beautiful and I enjoyed all the traditional Japanese folklore that crept in.

Interesting premise, pretty good execution, but this definitely felt like a series starter. I’m intrigued enough by this volume to pick up the next one, but it’s not a new favorite... yet.

Take some Japanese mythology, a hefty helping of saccharine fluff, some romantic undertones, a dollop of angst, and a few ghosts and blend them together on the ice drink setting for two minutes. Pulse twice, then pour into a chilled glass and top with whipped cream and sprinkles. Congratulations, you've just made the first volume of The Demon Prince of Momochi House.

The art is beautiful and the story, while fluffy and not containing much substance yet, does have enough to it to keep me interested. It's light-hearted and doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's kind of what I want right now. Sweet, cute, and with characters who may not have developed much so far but have a lot of potential in them. For now, I'll be moving on to the next volume.

It's cotton candy, but I like the flavour.

I watch animes more than I read mangas. Especially if there's an anime for a manga, I don't want to spoil the surprises that I'll see in the anime.
Since there's no anime for this, I can read this series.😊
Though, this kind of looks similar to something I've seen before.....🤔

Lovely art, I particularly like the transformation into the nue. It's such a well done protector. Enjoying the story although I want more about who aoi was before entering the house and why he can't leave.

3.5*

I was not expecting much, when I started this one. But, I was pleasantly surprised by this story of a haunted house that seemingly must be kept in the family. The cliche' about several handsome guys protecting the normal-looking girl is a bit overdone, but it is still enjoyable.

I will definitely be reading the future volumes to see if the romance becomes more pronounced. That aspect is hinted at in this volume, but not pursued much at all.

I’m kicking myself for not requesting at least up to vol 3 or 4 when I picked up vol 1 from my library. I did really enjoy this, and the art is absolutely stunning! Himari Momochi was a little annoying (?) at times? I don’t know if annoying is the word I want to use but sometimes her approach to the boys bothered me. Now I have to patiently wait for vol 2-6 to be available at my library...sigh.

What happened in this manga? I remember some vague pictures, I think the female protagonist was doing some cleaning and there are three supernaturals in the house that she inherited. But I took no notes so I barely remember anything. Apparently I rated this book as ok… well I cannot remember disliking it, I think it simply wasn't memorable.

Unique concept about a sixteen y/o orphan who inherits a haunted mansion that turns out to have been built between the human and spiritual realms, is being guarded by a demon prince and his three shifter companions, and is full of cursed creatures that try to trick her into stealing her soul at every turn.

I love that this first installment kicks off with a ton of action and triggers a lot of curiosity about the characters as well as the house itself. The story is fast-paced, and relationships develop quickly, which makes it interesting but at the same time hold on?!? We barely know this guy Aoi, and already he's getting attached to our girl Momochi. Hello, she's only 16, and we have no idea how old this demon prince is he could be centuries old.

Also, this series is an anime, too?? That just makes it even better and I can't wait to see how they interpret the manga on screen.

Some quotes that made me smile:

"It's obvious boys live here. Just look at this mess."

"If I can't save her... there's no reason for me to keep living!"

"...seeing you smile... makes me feel better. So... smile." :)

This manga was really interesting I love the story the take on ayakashi the characters are great too looking forward to reading more. The characters were so very fun to read about especially Himari and Aoi one being a girl that inherited the momochi house while the other is the mysterious boy living there. What I really liked about Himaru is her tenacious spirit her want to help and not be a burden to Aoi I loved Aoi for his mysteriousness looking forward to where a romance between them will go. The plot is really interesting it starts with Himari inheriting the house with Aoi and company trying to drive her out because of the danger Himari finds things out really looking forward to reading more soon.

*Read as part of the 25 Days of Manga challenge for December 2020.*

So, while I don't think this first volume has so far lived up to the hype that surrounds this series online, I do have to say that I very much enjoyed reading it. The art is gorgeous and while the characters so far don't feel very fleshed out, it's clear there's room for growth in each of them. I think if you're a big fan of Japanese mythology and supernatural stories, it's worth a read anyway.

I do hope to continue with this series in the future, but at present, I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about it, given the sheer amount of hype about it and the fact that when I read this volume it just was largely just okay in terms of writing.

I guess spoko wstęp do serii. Trochę przygłupia protagonistka, jak w wielu mangach, które miałam okazję czytać. Zobaczymy, co reszta tomów ma do zaoferowania, bo jest tu duży potencjał na rozwinięcie lore.
