This companion volume presents how the Panzertruppen fought during their defensive struggle with details on the units, organizations, types of Panzers, and tactics.
Jentz Panzertruppen books are unique in their scope, very specialized and, considering the amount of work they represents, can only be rated as excellent.
The books (I only own the second tome -1943-1945- for the time being) cover what can be best described as the most accurate order of battle of the German armored troops during World War Two available today, at least that I am aware of, down to the number of available machines and tactical formations employed by units. For this reason, I give it a four-stars rating: no other book offers such a reference.
Yet, it must be said that the editing of the book is among the poorest I've personally seen. Text is an inextricable mass of bold, italics and normal fonts, with next to no paragraphs or any sort of layout. Most maps are from archives and either poorly reproduced or just unclear in the first place. Captions aren't of the best quality either.
Yet, again, this is secondary to the provided information, which is very thorough.
