CeCe Monét is a best-selling author, copy editor and owns indie publishing company C-Verse Productions, formerly Diva C Publishing. Since writing her first short story for a school assignment at age 10, she’s always known that she wanted to grow up and be a writer too! Her early writing influences include: Judy Blume, Charles Dickens, Paula Danzinger, Toni Morrison, Alice Walker, Harlequin and Silhouette romance novels and various storytelling genres from Disney. CeCe’s goal with her work is to entertain, educate and enrich her reader’s lives by engaging them in engrossing stories. Her end objective is to get people thinking about what’s really happening out in the world through private relationships so her readers can decide for themselves if they’re happy and comfortable with the status quo, or if they are going to become social change agents…
CeCe is a veteran writer having covered a myriad of topics and genres from blogs, to articles on global food politics, to self-help guides, to business plans to poetry, to interracial romance novels.
She is a Los Angeles, California native and also the mom of one amazing son, an avid reader, foodie, paranormal enthusiast, knitter, overall art lover, introvert and a self-professed nerd with a sharp wit and awesome sense of humor. She enjoys wine, the beauty of sunsets at the beach, romance, and is obsessed with all things diversity, hence the reason her romance novels primarily deal with interracial relationships.
Major Themes, Subjects and Plots of the Author’s Fiction Work:
Most of CeCe Monét’s fiction deals with love, loss, changes in human nature given different circumstances and thus situational ethics, greed, grief, and lust, essentially coping with everyday real life through the lens of characters involved in various types of romantic relationships.
She utilizes her characters and story lines to examine how people deal with their emotional baggage, and how they handle the most random situations in their lives, especially since the author herself constantly experiences some very strange real life occurrences. Through her characters, she is interested in exploring raw, real human emotions and what people learn along the way as they move along their life journeys.
Above all, what CeCe most wants to convey to her readers is that men and women are all individuals and that we should embrace our diversity, but also celebrate that we’re all interconnected. Basically, she wants people to realize that love truly does conquer all and that this life is all about synergy, as both sexes really do need each other.
I enjoyed the stories by Pepper Pace more because she integrated her other stories into this anthology. Beast, crash etc. I usually don't like anthologies because story is too short. I really didn't care too much for the other authors stories hard to follow. But if you like pepper place you'll enjoy this collection.
I really enjoyed every story which often ended with a happy ending. I will surely continue try to read more reads from these authors there story lines take you into different direction of love but gives you a nice story line leading up to somewhat happy endings. Non traditional stories giving me a simple hope for great reads.
Okay I've based my overall rating for this book, only concerning the last 2 stories here. Out of all 6 stories, the last 2 were the ones with the most thought out and well developed characters and plot, IMO. So I enjoyed those the most.
"1-900-Brown Sugar" by Pepper Pace: 2 Stars
I liked the beginning and the ending with this one. But it was the middle where the "meat" of the story was supposed to be, that was dull for me.
"Fudge Brownies 2:Besties" by CeCe Monet: 1 Star
Didn't enjoy this one at all. The characters, their plight, nothing. Nothing about this short novella grabbed me.
"Wrong Turn Towards Love" by Pepper Pace: 3 Stars
This one was definitely better. It had the makings of an intense story/ plot. And a little intrigue concerning the main characters. But I was hoping for a little more of that Pepper Pace intensity, but I didn't get it. But it was still a decent story.
"Lucky" by CeCe Monet: 3 stars
I liked the characters here. The plot was light but still refreshingly intriguing. I just wished for a lot more heat when the deal was closed concerning these 2. And their ending kinda left me wanting as well.
"The Delicate Sadness" by Pepper Pace: 4 Stars
This was by far THE BEST one in this volume. I loved every single thing about this story, the characters, their chemistry, everything. I truly wanted to stay with these 2 a little longer. it ended too soon for me. It was romantic, heart breaking at times, sexy/erotic & real. I really liked this one.
"The Question" by CeCe Monet: 3 Stars
From the get go this one had my attention. The lead male Kazuki, kept it. So therefore I was a little disappointed that I didn't get enough time with him or enough of his POV. Though I still loved him just the same. Though you do have dual POV's here. I just was ultimately in the end, not feeling his choice of mate. Something with her personality or constant inner whining, I don't know. It rubbed me the wrong way. And I wasn't crazy about how this one wrapped up. Many avenues could have been taken with this one, I was hoping certain things played out a different way, but it was still a pretty decent & semi erotic read.
Based on the last 2 stories alone, I would recommend this read. But don't expect to be blown away with the others.
I genuinely enjoyed this anothology by Pepper Pace and CeCe Monet. My favorite stories from both authors were The Question by CeCe Monet - featuring JR and Kazuki and A Wrong Turn Towards Love - featuring Shaun and Bodie. If you are looking for a few short, spicy stories, this is the book for you!
I only read PP stories. I liked the first two well enough (2* for each) but the third one, "The Delicate Sadness" was my favorite (5*). I could really feel the characters' chemistry, which made it that much more better and interesting to me. 9 ÷ 3 = 3*
