This just did not click with me. This is NOT what I think of when I hear Teen Titans. What I see is Raven and Beast Boy and Cyborg and Nightwing and Starfire and maybe even Aqualad. Not...whatever this was. Prime Earth, man. It'll be the death of me.

Most of the time Tim was being a completely self-centered ass with a 'holier-than-thou' complex, which really pissed me off because usually I love him. Bunker & Kid Flash were cool characters, and generally amusing which helped make this tolerable. Is it sad that out of everyone, my favourite character was Danny, who was on panel maybe 8 times and had no spoken dialogue?

This was part of an attempt to ready every #1 issue of DC’s New 52 Relaunch.
Any video or article about the New 52 will talk about how bad of a misfire the Teen Titans was. I don’t have much else to say here that hasn’t already been said. I really like Brett Booth’s art. I don’t know if that’s controversial or not; but I think he draws really cool and detailed and art that looks fresh, colorful and dynamic. The team consists of Red Robin, (changed now so that he was never a Robin to Batman, he was just always Red Robin; a decision I also think sucks: and he’s got falcon wings). Then Superboy, Wonder Girl, (not Donna Troy though, Cassie Sandsmark. In yet another kind of weird costume that probably wouldn’t work well to fight in; you’d be forgiven for thinking she wasn’t at all related to Wonder Woman). Also appearing is Kid Flash, (Bart Allen, but not Bart Allen? I think he’s like from the future but is in a witness protection program in the past and THINKS he’s Barry’s grandson? It’s idiotic) Then Bunker, Skitter and Solstice get added later. This was basically just Tim Drake bringing the team together. It wasn’t terrible, people hate this though because it basically erased all previous incarnations of the team which really made fans hate it; and all the new characters and the omission of members such as Beast Boy and Raven really brought this down for most people. All in all, probably just forget that this existed.

”Teen Spirit”

Kid Flash comes across a raging fire and asks what he can do to help?

”You can sit your super-fast ass down and shut up.

Of course, Kid Flash makes it a LOT worse!

Elsewhere Tim Drake (Red
in) is doing that thing where he’s watching 20 different holographic screens telling various news stories about out of control teen age super-heroes.

He is then confronted with a group from a clandestine organization (called N.O.W.H.E.R.E. What was that marketing meeting like?) that has been picking up super-powered teenagers.

Red Robin turns down the offer to work for them and says he’s going to bring them down. And that he is going to blow up the penthouse they are all in. Which he does and then he jumps out the window. He uses glider wings to survive the fall.

I guess Red Robin is starting the fires that Kid Flash is making worse?

Red Robin finds Cassie Sandsmark (Wonder Girl) in a car she has stolen and gone joyriding in when someone disguised as police try to grab her. Red Robin intervenes just in time and tries to talk her into going with him to fight N.O.W.H.E.R.E.

Then, an attack helicopter comes and attacks them both. And Red Robin abandons her.

So she has to take out the helicopter herself. Which is a fully automated drone.

Turns out Wonder Girl is as much a jerk as Kid Flash. Red Robin tries to get her to join him.

”You were home schooled, weren’t you?”

The art is good. Not my particular favorite kind of style. I don’t know what you call it.

I think it’s a little too predictable and has a been-there-done-that to it so far.

And I think every kid being equally snarky will get old fast.

I’ll give this two stars but give it another chance.

DC isn't normally my cup of tea. I tend to avoid them and stay with Marvel, First Second, and some smaller imprints. Every now and then I'll venture into DC owned imprints but rarely the DC world itself. Teen Titans just looked too interesting to pass up and I'm glad I didn't. This was fun and full of great characters. There were some things that bothered me - the writing was solid but not genre bending, a couple of times there were characters who just seemed to come out of nowhere (pun intended ^_^), I'm not a fan of love triangles and there is one the horizon, PLUS, this is my biggest beef - what the hell does Solstice do? I go no real feel for her character and I wanted one.

I'll pick up the next book though for sure. It's fun, colorful (a must for me), with great characters and potential.

This first Volume was just okay for me. I'm going to at least continue reading this title through volume 3 so I can get all the Bat-Family tie-ins. I found the antagonists to be kinda pushovers with the exception of Super-Boy, who we all knew was gonna end up on the team or and ally one way or another. I'm not 100% sure I'd continue this series as is. Hopefully the storylines get more cohesive as they move into the tie-ins with the Court of Owls and Death in the Family.

My favourite of the three team books I recently read from the new 52. What makes this one work the best is that the team already has some promising chemistry, making me want to see their relationships develop. Also, there was some really nice are in this one, particularly the numbered spread for Kid Flash. Another book that I will definitely continue to follow.

The New Teen Titans from the 1980's is what got me reading comics, so I was excited to pick up with the new team in the latest reboot. I really enjoyed this collection. The pace was good, the dialogue snappy, and the art was amazing. I love how the characters were drawn. Volume 2 was disappointing considering how good Volume 1 was, but that's for another review.

Love the artwork, and the story is OK. A bit cliché here and there, but it isn't being billed as a serious comic either (which can be OK).

Not what is expected from the legacy of the "Teen Titan" name which kind of hurts it, best to approach this as its own unique series and not as a part of the past series.

This was a pretty cool new origin and some of the new characters are pretty cool. I really like Cassie, Tim, Bunker, and Bart.
