Like the captain of a vessel, there had been one man that charted the course of Amelia’s life, her grandfather, and now he was gone. Just when she was learning to navigate on her own, along came Gabriel.

What began as a job interview for small town college student Millie Anderson turned out to be so much more. Upon sight of her future boss, she was captivated. Was it the thrill of young love, forbidden fruit or was Gabriel Hewitt the moon to her tide? The pull toward him was undeniable. Gabriel was older, wiser, more experienced in the ways of the world and unlike any of the college boys. He was a man, a real man.

Some books are Southern Satire, some are Romance, but Port Honor is the blend of both. Port Honor is the story of first love and rising to the occasion when it comes to the challenges life presents in the South.

Excerpt from the book...
My pulse had quickened at the sight of him and the sound, the demand in his voice urging the door to bend to his will. The blond hair, the blue eyes, the build, the height; he could have been Hitler’s wet dream. He was the very definition of easy on the eyes.

The door was not the only thing that might have been about to come undone. I was incredibly nervous with being late and then the agony of sitting there waiting and now the sight of him. My mind had roamed to the thought of whether this was a test or punishment for being late: if I waited then I had the job or had he just hoped to keep me waiting until I gave up and went away. Had I not taken the hint and now I was just wasting more of his time? Was he pissed? He had just cursed at a swinging door. I gathered my nerve and stood as he came toward me. I was still trying to decide whether to make my apologies and run or to stay when he started to speak.

“Miss…” he trailed off snapping his fingers trying to recall my name. Right, I suppose a man that looks like this has never bothered to remember a woman’s name beyond that of his mother or perhaps even his grandmother, but that may be stretching it.

I extended my hand to shake as he approached. “Anderson, Millie Anderson,” I said as he took my hand. When our hands touched for the shake, I could feel a current run through me. My heart pounded and the room was suddenly hotter. Our eyes locked for a moment and he suddenly broke the connection, eyes and hands. Had he felt that as well?

I love a book with lots of depth and this one delivers. The story has charm, wit, plot and history. The characters are well developed and believable. This book has the potential for being a five star but I have to give it three as the writing style needs more polish and editing. I understand this is Ms. Dawson's first publication so I'm starting book two with expectations of improvement knowing that writing is an ongoing learning process.

Storyline is compelling but......

I did enjoy the plot and do want to read more about Gabe and Millie; but for me the book is too long for the content. It does have a good depiction of rural southern life; but there is just too much unnecessary to the plot information. In spite of this I will read the next book.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

What an ending. I really didn't expect it to end this way, not at all.
Port Honor is a very long book, with lots of descriptive detail that gives you a very well defined story that was written from one view point, Millie Anderson.
Through her eyes, the author created an interesting and lively character in Millie as she explore the new world of golfing and its people. Meeting Gabriel Hewitt was the highlight of the book, the two really taking a while to get together. But once they did, you couldn't stop them. The intensity between them was electrifying. Right from the start they had a spark, a spark that drew them together as they learned more about each other.
Her musical talents were extraordinary in every way, making her a remarkable character in her own right. Through it all she had to adapt to her new life; inheriting a fortune that stunned her and left her clueless but with good friends she kept her feet on the ground, doing what was best for her and them.
Her different relationships with her friends and Gabriel was interesting, but I must admit at times a little bit to much. Their support and care really touch me, since you don't find this often in reality. They did everything together and always had each others best interest in mind.

Gabriel's character was also very strong, doing what is right even if it was difficult at times. I really admired that about him. The way he kept himself in place, taking her in consideration also stood out and at the end their union was wonderful.
In the end a good story with an interesting plot.

I fell in love with T.S. Dawson's writing style when I read her book When I was Green for a review group. When she contacted me and asked if I would like to read Port Honor I jumped at the chance! I was so excited to dive right in and I must say I was not disappointed! Being as this book was quite long it took a few days for me to read, and a few nights without sufficient sleep. I was drawn into the world of Amelia and Gabriel, and fell completely in love with them, as well as all the supporting characters. Their love story is not simple, and it was fought on many fronts. Gabriel, being Amelia's older boss, did not believe it would be appropriate to be with Amelia but soon realized the pull was too strong. Grappling with her own confusing feelings and keeping a secret about who she really is make Amelia question who she can trust but she ultimately gives in to love. Outside complications try their damnedest to break them apart and we as the book ends in a cliffhanger we find ourselves not knowing if Amelia and Gabriel's love is one for the centuries.

I wrote this book. As of the time I am leaving this message, I have 16 5-star reviews on Amazon. The book is about a young college student, who after the death of the grandfather that raised her, has to essentially find a new way in the world. She takes a part-time job at a country club and falls for her new boss. He is a bit older than she is, but has his own damage and baggage. Angst ensues and the book culminates with an explosive ending. This is a romantic coming of age book set in 1995-1996.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

I couldn't hold on to one piece of event or dialogue, as seemingly endless surges of reminiscences kept dragging me away. It made me realise how crucial is the role of a professional Editor or an experienced Beta Reader in making a book readable.

This book had me from the beginning. I could not put it down. It had a couple of type-o sort of errors, but other than it was as good as anything else out there right now.

Loved that this book is set in an area that I know very well. It helps to really get into the story! Can't wait to see what else is in store for this couple!
