Three monumental CDs... Three consecutive sold-out world tours... One of the biggest fan bases the music world has ever seen...
And they simply vanished.
What become of the 'biggest pop band in the world'?
They let go of the fame, and went about their lives, out of the spotlight.
However... just as it has done twice before, Destiny is about to draw the members of Audio Distortion back together, to do what they are amazingly good at ...
The third in the series of, what has evolved into a cult following in the UK although mainstream novels in the US. Having borrowed my copies of books one and two I have three friends arguing over who will borrow this one first. Buy your own copies guys!!!
The band have scattered across the globe and have matured, as has Morgans writing. Written in a more grown up manner it reflects beautifully the maturing of the band members. As with the style of the others in the series it sometimes takes a few lines of each chapter to work out whose voice the words are written in.
As happens every book, I get confused and conned, but in a nice way. There are a number of musical experiences through the novel, in the US and in Europe and you (as in I) think, great, if this is recorded I can't wait to hear it. And then you remember it is a novel.
Will the individuals gravitate towards to each other and, if so, then aided or unaided? Will aspiring bands be helped on their way? Waiting for this third novel was worth the wait and the end sheet advertises a fourth to come "All About The Music". But if “Begin Again” is new to you then be sure to read “Replay” and “Journey’s End” first.
The gang from Audio Distortion is all grown up, well mostly, they're at least all adults now, and moving on with their lives, or are they?
This series is very consistent so far in that it switches between characters for each chapter. As the characters grow up its getting easier to tell which characters head we are in for each chapter because the locations and people around them are vastly different now (also several of the chapters start out with a phone call to another band member, making it that much easier to get in the right head.)
I was quite anxious for Audio Distortion to get back together and loved the ah-ha moment when I figured out who Emma's traveling partner was. This is definitely a great series for younger readers, with short chapters that make for good stopping places.
This was a First Reads win. With that out of the way, I'd like to say that this series is good for younger teens with an interest in music, i.e. all teens. It tells the tale of a band's striking rise and sudden disappearance from the music industry, followed by their eventual return. While it did not do much for me personally, I can see where it would certainly attract teenagers, what with its similarities to such bands as the Jonas Brothers, One Direction, etc.
O_O Wow, just wow. Words fail me, I cannot even begin to describe how much I love the third installment of Audio Distortion. Just because I can though, I will say that this was EPIC. Seriously, if you weren't hooked with the first novel, you will be after this one. I also wish that this series came with soundtracks, I would love to hear the music of Audio Distortion. L. Gryphon
