I really enjoyed this book. The author did a great job of creating one of the sickest serial killers I can recall any fiction author creating and it gave a bigger chill because sadly, such a sick, mentally unstable killer can exist. The relish the killer took in his kills and rapes had me on fire and wanting to get the guy myself. What he put his victims through no one should be put through and it made things all the sweeter later on.
I liked Skye's character as well as Josh's. They both were a great compliment to each other's differences and it made them a more complete couple by being able to compensate for each other's, what some might consider "weaknesses". I also enjoyed the Native American portions of the story that helped explain some of the things that were going on. I have a great respect for the True Americans of this continent and it's always fun to learn more about their traditions and beliefs.
"The Bones Will Tell" by Vickie McKeehan is another gripping and gruesome story about a man killing helpless victims. When 5 single attractive women are found murdered one after the other in their homes close vicinity to each other the police finally bring in Skye Cree as consultant, an intuitive Native American, whose visions have helped the police in the past. Skye is helped by her spirit guide, a silver wolf named Kiya, and her boyfriend/ partner Josh. The investigation is complicated by the tension between the couple and by family secrets that Skye uncovers along the way, which make the book rich in story lines and creates interesting sub-plots beyond the investigation. As the two of them try to uncover the identity of the murderer, the killer keeps at his evil game. McKeehan does a great job at showing us the killer and his life, she takes us into his evil mind. If you read any of her other work you'll know that she portrays evil uncompromisingly as such, pure evil. We learn about the past of the killer but this is not used as mitigating circumstances. "Who knows and who cares" why he did it, is an apt quote from the novel. The book contains some explicit scenes of violence but in creating a character as strong and positive as Skye we are left elevated by the strong female character that takes on the cowardly killer of innocent and helpless victims. It is a joy to read more of this great series, Skye is a great character that will hopefully carry many more books in the series.
I ADVISE NOT READING THIS BOOK WHILE HOME ALONE. I GUARANTEE EVERY LITTLE SNAP-CRACKLE-POP-GROAN YOU HEAR WILL HAVE YOU JUMPING, THINKING SOMEONE IS BREAKING IN. YIKES! THIS KILLER WAS UNBELIEVABLE, A REAL SICKO AND SCARY-TO-THE-MAX! SKYE & ANDER HAVE THEIR WORK CUT OUT AND TAKING HIM DOWN DOES NOT PROVE TO BE EASY. THE NEWLY FORMED COUPLE ARE ALSO HAVING SOME MAJOR PERSONAL ISSUES TO DEAL WITH WHILE TRYING TO CATCH HIM. I LOVED THE STORY, THE TOUCH OF FANTASY AND ROMANCE IT REALLY ADDS TO THE STORY LINE. I NORMALLY WOULDN'T GO FOR THE FANTASY PART BUT MS MCKEEHAN BEING A GREAT WRITER MAKES IT ALL WORK TOGETHER. THIS WAS GREAT I REALLY ENJOYED IT. ;>
A serial killer is on the loose in Seattle; his MO is stalking women, B&E, followed by sick & twisted sexual deviance, ending in murder.
The talented Skye Cree is called to assist with tracking down this killer; but will she prevail and bring the killer to justice before the body total tips the scales? Or will the killer prevail and turn the tables to make Skye his next victim? An amazing read! 5 stars!!
The Bones Will Tell (Skye Cree #2) by Vickie McKeehan 4.5 stars M/F Thriller Triggers: Violent murders, rapes, evil serial killing I used my own personal copy to review for Wicked Reads.
This is the second story in this series and I did not read the previous book. However, despite not reading book 1, I didn't ever feel truly lost.
Skye and Josh make for a strange couple. While they are certainly passionate, they also have this strange barrier between them. The Native American aspects of this story are very interesting and I think, add to the story line a lot. There are definite twists in the lives of Skye and Josh that I wasn't expecting.
The true story lies in the serial killer who is terrorizing Seattle. The killer is the epitome of evil. There is something about how McKeehan can write such evil that is truly a talent. The killer's MO is so distinctive and so chilling. You definitely will want to read with the lights on.
I really enjoyed the depravity in this story and thought that it was well developed and intriguing. McKeehan has a talent for letting you in to the killer's mind and once you're there, it's hard to get out.
Another great addition to the series. I have to say Skye irritated me a bit in this book when she acted a little immature but she did get some pretty devastating news and the diminishment of Kiya who seems more bonded to Josh was really weighing on her. The revelations at the end (setup) was great, I guessed one part but not the other they put in place to catch the killer.
This is the second book I have read by Vickie McKeehan, and first one of this series and I really enjoyed it. Liked the characters and on the whole found it really interesting.
Skye Cree is part native american. Her parents died when she was very young so she was sent to her aunt & uncles and had a torrid time whilst growing up through her teenage years, not only this but she was kidnapped by a peadophile.
From the age of 13 she had a spirit guid with her which is a wolf called kiya.
The book starts with Skye been called in to look at a murder scene and Harry the detective asking her for help finding the murderer.
Skye struggles as her spirit guide is now also with her boyfriend.
The story unfolds as more and more murders take place with Skye trying to find out who he is, along side this she also finds out Travis her parents friend is really her father and she struggles to come to terms with this.
Lots of twists and turns, a lot of brutality is committed by the murderer but he didn't realise that Skye would be a bigger match for him
Great book, loved the characters and look forward to reading more of these
This book was even better than the first one. I am totally hooked on Skye and Josh! The villain in this story was beyond creepy and beyond sadistic. I love that the action in this series is believable (other than the paranormal aspects, of course...however, the author writes so well that even those begin to seem real). The chemistry between the couple and their back and forth banter is great. They are very sexy without having to be graphically sexual. I can't wait to grab the next book, and I am so thrilled this series is a part of kindle unlimited!
I actually liked this and kind of wish I'd read the first one before, but I got it as a free kindle book on a bookbub deal and the first one wasn't part of that. Skye Cree is a consultant with the cops, one of who she's on the outs with due to something that happened in the first book. She was placed with fanatics after her parents died in a car accident and ran for it at 18, spending the rest of her time trying to save people from the very thing her aunt and uncle blamed her for: being kidnapped and abused by a pedophile. Except she doesn't do things the normal detective way, she has a wolf spirit guide that helps her find these abused women and fight their attackers. Now she's on the case of the sickest sexual abuser she's ever encountered. Some. Pampered prick with serious mommy issues is not only raping women, but stalking them and brutally murdering them. If they dare to fight back against such a worthless little boy, he flips his shit and makes sure it's evident afterwards that he won't tolerate a woman thinking she's human like him. Skye, her boyfriend Josh whom she met/rescued in the previous book, work with Harry, the cop she's on the outs with, to bring the sicko to justice with the help of their wolf before he kills more, and discover all the kills he's done before that set him on this path, unknown to almost all but him originally. Skye was a little bratty at times, throwing temper tantrums when Josh dared to bring up marriage and refusing to admit why. Mad that he asked, mad that he didn't ask properly, mad that he didn't like her telling him to kiss off for asking. It comes out eventually why she's being so petulant and distant and makes sense, but still a little childish and annoying at times. Overall, I liked this one and will have to look into the rest of the series when I can.
Explicit scene content of serial murder victims. How many will die before they can identify this rage filled serial killer? He thinks he is so much smarter than everyone else, he'll never be caught. He meticulously plans for each kill doing extensive recon of each victim. A secret comes out that Travis has hid for over 20 yrs. Skye feels uneasy and feels she no longer knows her path because she can't feel Kya as strong as she has since she was young. Is there a way to get Skye's spirit guide in sync with her again or has she lost it to Jake? As Skye and Josh uncover info on the serial killer and find a few victims who were not much more than bones, the serial killer becomes enraged with Skye and Josh. Now Skye is in his sight to become his next victim. Intense, nice twists, on the edge of your seat crime novel!
Skye and her boyfriend were trying to track down this serial killer who liked to spy on woman and get their schedules down and absorb everything he could about the girls he was going to get. He even surveyed their apartment , how built and where each room was etc. Skye had a spirit who seemed to be getting weaker since she meet Josh her boyfriend , but Josh seems to be acquiring Kia , the spirit. Kia helped find info about this killer. Skye would go out at night and search for him. Josh didn't like that. They finally got some good leads this time. Her and Josh set it up because they knew it was a guy named Frank and he was coming to get Skye, He raped , beat , and cut up the women before killing them. Skye was all ready for him.
Skye Cree and Josh are one of my favorite power couples to read about. This book was like a roller coaster and you got this psychopathy killer running around. Vickie did a amazing job on writing the murderer in this book. He is one cruel, sick monster. I kinda feel bad for Harry Drummond, the police detective. For trying to keep up and understand how Skye and Josh just know what has happened before anyone. Then Vickie goes and throws some stuff about Skye's life in this book and what a curve ball!! You got to read the book, to know what that curve ball is... Overall I did enjoy reading this Skye Cree Novel!! It was an awesome read!! Thank you Vickie for another great read!
I really enjoy these books. They have romance, suspense, supernatural and twists and turns to keep you reading past your bedtime! Skye Cree is a very tough woman who has met and overcome many spirit breaking life challenges. She's physically strong, as well as mentally. Like all of us she has her insecurities to overcome. She also is on a mission to clean the streets of pedophiles and this is intense and intriguing. Give yourself a present and treat yourself to Vickie McKeehan's series of books.
What a great weekend read. A serial killer is loose in Seattle. Josh and Skye work with the police tactical team to find him before he kills every single woman in the city. A good murder mystery will keep you going, make sure your doors and windows are locked. Oh, wait that is of no help, he gets in anyway and he knows more about you then you know yourself. Leave the lights on.
A well written mystery featuring a bit of the Native American mysticism. A serial killer is on the loose in Seattle and soon his sights will be on Skype Cree. Can Skye help her long time friend Detective Harry Drummond solve this horrific case before Skye becomes the next victim?
This is an excellent book with a great storyline and characters. This is the first book i have read by Vickie McKeehan and I am now a big fan. I am looking forward to reading the crest of her books. I will defiantly tell my friends and family about her. I highly recommended this book.
This is the third Skye Cree novels I have read so far but not in numerical order. I have to say you can read them out of order and not miss anything. I have two more to go. I love this series. Great writing, entertaining. Love Kiya. Another Bravo, Ms. McKeehan.
Author Vickie McKean has done an outstanding job painting a picture of a serial killer, keeping me awake at night thinking about the book. Also I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the Native American aspect to the book
Good storyline. Kept me interested all the way through. The ending was definitely unexpected but good. Also like it does not contain much unnecessary language as so many books do.
There’s nothing I hate more than figuring out where the story is going 1/3 of the way through. I was pretty annoyed with this book – it seemed obvious and then… Things took a turn in a different direction. Nice twists – some unexpected turns… I’m happy I stuck with it,
American Indian spirit animals, a PI and detective try to combine their skills to find a serial killer. All the victims were blonde, small and less than 30 years old. This was a fast-moving, couldn't put it down until I finished (but then I couldn't sleep) book. I rate this a 5.1
A graphic telling about a serial killer that feels he will never be caught. Skye and Josh make a good team in solving the present as well as a few cold cases.
Wow!! Vicki McKeehan can write quite the edge of your seat thriller. The storyline, writing and characters all meshed really well, combining for a really engaging read. Definately a series all should read
I find these books horrifying, but addictive. They scare me and yet I have to keep reading to find what comes next. The characters. seem to grow a little each book as well as a it more fantastic. The books are a good read.
As intricate and enjoyable as the first book I read.
The story was interesting, well told and had plenty of action to keep one involved throughout the entire story.Skye and her guy are a tough pair who do great battle with the bad guys.
It s been a while since I read a book I liked as much as I did this one. It had a strong woman main character who kicked ass. It had romance and a serial killer. My kind of book for sure with a satisfying ending. Loved it.
This is a great read. Fast paced yet the twists and turns fantastic. I loved how there is nothing but love between the main characters, aside from the killer, of course. It's great to read a book so well written. Thank you
read book 1 to learn back story of Skye and Josh. interesting approach to crime solving. The aspect of Skye's native American heritage plays a big role in the storyline.
