Linda Formichelli is a freelance writer in Los Angeles. She spent 25 years writing for top publications and brands, from Good Housekeeping and Inc. magazines to Best Buy and Intel. She's also the author or coauthor of a dozen books, including the classic The Renegade Writer: A Totally Unconventional Guide to Freelance Writing Success.
Preachy and annoyingly chipper while pushing the author's own paid services, like her $99 find-writing-gigs website. Too many quotes, too many references to "late in the book you'll..." and not enough good, useful, practical, pragmatic suggestions for going freelance. Lots of step-by-step lists about things someone should already have a grasp of before even considering a full time writing career. Not useful to me at all. By chapter 5, I was skimming paragraphs, then whole pages, and finally quit reading.
Lots of useful information. Chock full of interviews from successful writers on how they got started. The beauty of this is that it's also a workbook, so I'm most definitely going back to work through them.
