Submarine Suspense and Humor

Another great submarine suspense novel by former nuclear submarine volunteer Todd Tucker. It is the ongoing story of cool guy Danny Jabo on a new submarine—not a Trident, but an attack submarine. If you do not know the difference between the two, do not worry. The author will bring you up to snuff in a good way, guaranteed to educate you as an equal, and not just to prove to you how smart he is.

That said, I will admit that I could not put "Ghost Sub" down. I loved the characters and the setting. It is a genuine peek into a nuclear submariner's experience. And, well, that is pretty amazing. If, like me, you are fond of this genre, you will be satisfied by your read.

Very Good Book

Only found one typo, that's good. One complaint and it is only because I was a Submariner and served on a Fleet Boat and the USS Sturgeon SSN 637. There are no un-rated enlisted men on any Submarine. You can't be "just out of Boot Camp." There is "A" school and then Sub School, if you are a nook there is one year of schools there. To a non-bubble head it is not important, Just like a torpedo is never "fired" it is shot.

To all targets this is an excellent book. To bubble heads it is a very good book.

I enjoy books about submarines, more non-fiction, but this was a good novella. I just wish I had read the first book about the main character before this one. I even had it on my Kindle and didn't check. I'll be reading it very soon. I think you'd have to enjoy books about submarines and submariners to really enjoy this, but maybe this will whet your interest. I have a feeling his first gives more time for character development and has more action that this one, but I still enjoyed it.

Excellent

enjoyable to read a novel that was complete. Does not mean that there cannot be another, but at least there was an end, unlike some who plan sequels and leave you hanging

The story generally works but I felt like the plot was given away in the middle of the book. After that the ending was a foregone conclusion. I would love to see that reworked some how.

Great book but the story truly left me wanting more. Love the characters and the writing style and detail. Hopefully there will be another Dan Jabo series book in my future with real adversaries.

Good plot and flow of the story. An outstanding tutorial on the functions of a modern submarine. Roles were interesting as well.

Excellent read

Again, excellent read, however, a little on the sad side. Killing one of your own can t be an easy thing to do.

Ghost Sub opens with a scene reminiscent of "There Will Come Soft Rains": an automated environment, eerily chugging along through its pre-programmed routines, an imitation of life in the midst of death. The USS Boise has gone silent, her crew unresponsive, the ship steaming toward the coast of Hong Kong. Lt. Danny Tabo, whose heroics helped saved the Alabama in Collapse Depth, here returns with his XO to track and intercept the submarine. It's a daunting technical challenge, though the mystery of what happened to the boat is not for Tabo and the others to solve, but is instead directly revealed to the reader through flashbacks and hinted at to shoreside medical authorities who hasten to squelch a dangerous and incredibly virulent viral outbreak. The only weakness in the novel is that part of the initial setup is made by two characters being irrational, one of them so incredibly so that it nearly disrupted my immersion.

Poignant, and timely - Tough decisions made by tough men of The Silent Service

Another great read about the character of men. The story was both fast paced and NOT predictable. Characters are well drawn and the tension is light years ahead of
The Cassandra Crossing or The Andromeda Strain. However...
Like those stories I would love to have more pages to read. The author is so good at Bri gung me in but then ....it's over.
The author is great and he needs to know that in this regard, for me, it's ok to add 150-200 pages with no arguments.
Excellent again , thank you for sharing. Buying the next one .... You should too.

How you can live with yourself

I enjoyed the way you brought about the submarine
The men you put into each work area and there job and how they handled there job. What a story about a sub that ends up with the whole crew dead
And this other sub has to destroy her. What an ending. 🤕🤠

A good read

A solidly written story. Enough detail to make you feel like you’re there without going overboard. The main character is like able and the storyline keeps you wanting to get to the next page.

Out standing Sub story

As a Navy Vet. I have always been interested in Sub. Service. As a youngster I remember watching the "Slient Service" series on TV in the 5 0's. I read this book in one sitting it was so interesting.

Not close to as good as the first book. The plot was given away in the middle of the book. All suspense was gone after that. Was the book about submarines or a copy machine (to many details about a broken copy machine that had nothing to do about the story).

Great story but a. Little short

I really enjoyed the book but it seemed to end pretty quick. Is it because I am used to reading book sets with 3 to 4 books or because it was good. A very different take . Off on a submarine story made it all the more enjoyable.

Gripping Sea Yarn and a Good Read

Well plotted, interestingly written
Taut and a bit too believable. Unencumbered by the usual cliches of the genre. Looking forward to reading #3 in the series: Zulu Five Oscar!

A great book to read.

You will be taken on a journey that will wonder if this could really happen. The story was told with a lot of care on what had happened here. The author did a good job with the book , you will have a hard time putting the book down.

Another super submarine story. Great story-telling by author. I could not put the book down. The people interactions are real and very interesting which makes the reading very enjoyable. Very simple plot - very plausible - very good. Looking forward to more by this author.

IT was an ok book, did not read the first one. I did not care for most of the characters. The concept was neat, but the stakes seemed not to matter much considering a nuclear sub is awol. Just not my type of book i guess, wont be reading more in this series.

Decent read however, I wouldn't call it an edge of your seat kind of book. There was no real danger or plot line that made me feel as though the main characters were in any kind of peril.
