One of the world’s most celebrated mediums, Doris Stokes brought joy, comfort, and fascination to thousands of people during her lifetime. From families wishing to contact departed loved ones to police forces trying to solve murder cases, the uncanny accuracy of her psychic powers were universally acclaimed, while her readings and performances in Australia, America, and at home in Britain were received with adulation. This unique collection includes the two best-selling books in which Doris Stokes shared her remarkable experiences with readers throughout the world. In Voices in My Ear, she reflects on discovering her extraordinary gift. More Voices in My Ear recalls how Doris helped the family of one of the Yorkshire Ripper’s victims, enabled the late actor Peter Finch to communicate with his wife, and gave hope to the parents of missing children.
Doris May Fisher Stokes (January 6, 1920 - May 8, 1987), born Doris Sutton, was a British spiritualist and psychic medium. She first came to public attention in 1978 during a visit to Australia, when she appeared on The Don Lane Show. In the wave of interest that followed her appearance, she played to three capacity audiences at the Sydney Opera House. She was also the first medium to appear at the London Palladium, with the tickets selling out in two hours. In 1980, her first, written with Linda Dearsley, autobiographical volume, Voices In My Ear: The Autobiography of a Medium was published, pulling her further into the public eye in the UK. Over two million copies of her books were sold.
Doris Stokes was not just a medium, which is what people remember her for, but she had a varied life, she was also a nurse, granted it took her a long time, but she was determined to follow that dream. Doris saw Spirits or Ghosts, from a very early age, and though her mother didn't believe her, Doris's dad did, as he too was Psychic, This is an omnibus of two of her books, and gives hope to all those who have loved ones on the Other Side, Tender, spooky and also funny in parts. a great books, about a very much loved medium.
There are so many mediums books but none that I’ve read that touched me so much. I laughed and I cried. It truly illuminated what a wonderful woman Doris Stokes was. Her humility and love is on each and every page. She spoke about her many trials and it broke my heart to read the passing of her son. Truly a beautiful book and I hope she is well rested as she touched so many people. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved this book,I was given this book by a elderly man I went to Art group and his wife recently passed over and this was her book,I thought I was not sure if its something I would read, not sure what it be about,But I decided to start reading this book when we was in Covid Lockdown Aug 2020,I have been reading it when I had time and most lately each morning when I first got up,its a great read and starts when Doris is a little girl, how she felt and how she was treated,I think anyone with an interest in spiritualism or what happens when we pass over,it answers questions that were in my mind..I was sorry to finish it as I enjoyed it so much, even looking on the internet when Doris Stokes passed away..and her family..
I listened to Doris Stokes' Desert Island disc interview and she sounded so lovely that I had to get her book. I didn't want to finish this as I loved every single page of it but now I'm going to chase up everything else she wrote. It certainly helps if you believe in the Afterlife and mediumship although, even if you don't, this is still a fascinating and gloriously easy read. I found it very comforting too.
I would read this book over and over. I found it fascinating. I loved reading about her life. As a Spiritualist I was always curious but this book gave me comfort as a child. Very interesting for any reader.
Such an amazing story loved reading it would recommend it to any one! Although anyone who is mildly against the idea of mediumship will surely hate this book and will be unable to take this book seriously. This book deals with such serious events, serious illnesses, deaths. People who are on the fence about their beliefs in mediumship then they should definitely read this book it will surely give you one of the best insights in to the world of mediums and spirituality.
I enjoyed reading this book her life was full of things it goes up and down..I wish she added Joan Michal's picture how she described him he was an angel thats why he didn't stay on earth .I don't now about the spiritualism but I believe there are ghosts and few people see them and she was one of them .
