The things that did not work for me in this book:
(Contains spoilers and direct quotations)
The hero:
Vasilije is a 400yo vampire whom we first meet in the prequel to this series. He is arrogant, hedonistic and a bit villainous and it worked for me then. However, the same characteristics do not endear him to me when he is elevated to the hero status in this book. For over hundreds of years he’s main focus been making vampires
” Did you make him into vampire? Why?
I am a vampire, love. It’s what we do”
Vasilije rushes in to New Orleans to avenge the death of Teagan, one of his vampires, and apparently so overcome with grief in the loss of one of his own that he ends up having sex with the killed vampire’s girlfriend just hours the after the murder! (Obviously, respect for his dead friend is not a concern). He then proceeds to make another vampire, a total airhead, because he reminds him of Teagan. A bit later in the book we also find out that his sire, the woman he loved, was killed centuries ago but he obviously was not in a hurry to avenge her death (Priority issues or it did not mean that much to him? Needless to say, all that did not make Vasilije appealing to me)
The heroine:
Sasa is 27yo empath. She is a devoted daughter who looks after her ailing mother. Her first encounter with the vampire, Tatiana, is extremely traumatic.
“Her growing fear exploded in to terror when the blond opened her mouth and with a sharp click flashed two white fangs”
It is obvious that Tatiana is up to no good.
“Never before had she sensed such rage and hatred for another.
“I want him dead, but first I need him to suffer”
Tatiana wants Sasa’s help with this revenge, but of course Sasa is a moral person.
“I can’t help you to kill someone. Even my mother’s health isn’t enough to make me do that”
But on the next breath we get:
“But I’ll help you if you help my mother. Make her a vampire” (WHAT!!!???? You are asking that terrifying murderer to turn your mother???)
Tatiana agrees to “help” Sasa’s mother
“After I sire her, she’ll be as healthy as a horse; as long as you give her the blood I gave you to help her through her first days as a vampire.”
“Is that it? What about after that?”
“That’s what people are for”
And finally:
“Vampires aren’t monsters. They eat and drink just like us – well, except for the blood” (This is where this book totally lost me)

The relationship/romance - there is none

After their first sex romp
“Sasa knew it wasn’t the type of love found in tender love songs. She wasn’t a fool (Oh, yes, she was!) He barely knew her and this was result of too much alcohol and his need for of someone, anyone, to take away the pain of losing his friend”

“Please” she begged in a voice that matched the pathetic look in her eyes”Don’t leave me alone now”

When Vasilije calls for Sasa, he knows that
“…as one of his vampires she’d have no choice but to obey his command. Whether she wanted it or not”
And when they are re-united, he greats her with:
“Sasa, come” (Is that suppose to be masterful? Well. Maybe it is, after all, that’s how I call in my dog!) To me,this is not love but ownership.

The plot:

Trough the book we get the glimpses that there is more to Tatiana’s attempt to kill Vasilije then the personal vendetta, however it is only in the epilogue that we get absolutely bombarded with information such as what the Son’s of Novarus are suppose to be, Order of Macaria, Prophesy, no less than 7 new characters and a lead-on to the next book. Sorry, but for me it is too much too late.

I want my hero to be someone I can like, respect or admire, flawed, but with redeeming features, a hard-ass, not just a jackass. I want my heroine to be strong, smart, and feminine and not a wimp with maturity of a 5yo and an IQ of the guppy. There are a lot of excellent paranormal/erotic romance books around; however, for me this one did not qualify. Hot sex – yes, everything else that, for me, will constitute a good read – no.

And for all the readers who rated this book highly – I might not agree with you, but I respect your opinion, and I hope you will grant me the same curtsey.

BRIEF SUMMARY
Vasilije is vampire who answers to no one and does as he pleases. This produces one of his own to be killed. On a quest for revenge in New Orleans, Vasilije, crosses path with Sasa, who could be his downfall.

THOUGHTS (May or may not contain spoilers)

Bravo to the author, Gabrielle Bisset, on what was the most anticipated conclusion to a fascinating villain, and the beginning, to what I can predict to be a great start to a series. In ‘Vampire Dreams’, though, Vasilije was not the main character, he left a lasting impression that you were unable to get out of your head. As a result, reading his story was exciting and it was everything I thought it would be.

This story was great for me, but although I was enjoying it, it is one of those stories that grips you with each chapter as the story develops. Vasilije’s character in ‘Blood Avenged’ was sensual, erotic, and dangerous. Often times when he got angry, it brought me back to the Vasilijie I remembered. As his character seeks revenge, he crosses path with, Sasa. Sasa is an empath, the gift of sensing ones emotion. Although Sasa and Vasilije’s coming together was one of deception, their chemistry physically and emotionally was unforgettable as well as the scenery the author created in New Orleans. Vasilije was also given a nemesis that was selfish, evil, and vengeful, that later gave us an excellent climax to the story.

Now, I have to admit, the epilogue was a bit funny and left an alluring cliff hanger to what will be an Archons and Sons of Navarus war that is brewing, which will be explained in the story. We are introduced to all eight of the Sons of Navarus and were given a bit of their personalities. With each character that I have read, I am now a little impatient for the next book in this series.

Storyline: GOOD
Intimacy: (D.R.I.P) Don’t Read In Public /GOOD
Enjoyment: GOOD

Oh. My. Goodness!!!!! This is the hottest book of Gabrielle Bisset's that I've read yet! Vasilije is a positively hedonistic being and I couldn't get enough of him!

A while back I read a book called Vampire Dreams. While I enjoyed the leading couple, the character that really snagged my attention was Vasilije, Brandon's sire. He was totally in control and the power just radiated off him. Apparently I wasn't the only one interested in Vasilije because Gabriel Bisset wrote his story just to answer her fans questions about him.

Vasilije has been around for over 400 years and totally loves his life as a vampire. He totally revels in the power that he wields. He takes what he wants whether it be a woman or a person he's chosen to sire. It's the latter that caused him so much trouble in this book.

Being the vampire that he is, Vasilije didn't hesitate to satisfy his desire to take Alex and make him one of his own. Unfortunately, another vampire had called dibs on him. Alex was dating a vampire named Tatiana and though he had broken no law, Vasilije had really ticked her off. It didn't help that Vasilije and Tatiana had a nasty past and unfinished business between them. This little incident brought all those unresolved issues to the forefront of things, Needless to say, a battle between the two vampires ensued.

Sasa was an empath who put her life on hold to care for her mother. In a desperate attempt to help her, Sasa agreed to aid Tatiana with her revenge on Vasilije. She was supposed to get close to him so she could be Tatiana's secret snitch. To bad for her that Sasa got a little "closer" to Vasilije then she planned. ;o)

Blood Avenged is yet another example of excellent writing by Gabrielle Bisset. She always makes the emotions of her characters palpable. Though Vasilije is quite a "closed off" type of guy, somehow Gabrielle made it easy to feel his wistfulness for something, though he wasn't sure what that something was until Sasa came into his life. Sasa is such a loving soul. She was truly devoted to her mother. It was great to see that and I totally got her. My own mother is disabled so that part of the storyline particularly resonated with me.

This book is grittier than Gabrielle's other works. I must say, she does gritty good. The darkness in this book was great. Vasilije's hedonistic ways brought us some Extremely Hot sex scenes. The steam of them frequently had me sweating.

Yet another great part of this book was the suspense. You never knew when Tatiana was going to show up or what she was gonna do next. I was filled with anticipation. It was like I was watching a soap opera or something lol!

OK. By now you've probably figured out that I really liked this book. I just can't seem to say enough good things about it so you'll just need to grab yourself a copy of Blood Avenged so you can experience it first hand!

Exciting and Hypnotizing!

Wow what a great story filled with excitement at every turn of the page. A story filled with the drama within a vampire world between America ways and England’s old world ways. Usually we read about the hunt between human and vampire but not in this twist of a story. Here we have vampires hunting and killing their own kind for power, revenge, hate, jealousy, and for love.

I was totally glued to the story, the characters are well connected, and you can literally feel their emotions coming off the page. The writing is excellent with details that grasp and entice you to feel what the characters are feeling.

The erotic love scenes between the vampire Vasilije and the human empath Sasa is incredibly passionate, fiercely dominating, and Hot! Hot! Hot!

I must say I loved the historical mixture in the paranormal world and that some of the humans experienced paranormal abilities such as voodoo magic, empathy, and psychic abilities.

The ending was surprising and unexpected after everything Vasilije and Sasa went through, however the ending revelation made sense as it introduced The Sons of Navarus Series which is the spin off from this story.

I look forward to reading more about this vampire world and learning more about this historical prophecy to unfold as the battle between the Sons of Navarus and The Archons seek to eliminate each other to remain in power. Great Read!

(4.5 Star Top Pick for Night Owl Reviews ~ reviewed by Talina Perkins)

First Lines:

The beat of the music slammed into his body like crushing blows from an angry attacker, each note reverberating in his bones. He sat perfectly still and let the beat thrum through him as he picked up the seductive scent wafting across the crowded room, carried by a thick cloud of cigarette smoke. Undetected by all but him, its subtle sweetness teased his nose with a promise of what was to come.

Teaser:

Vasilije answered and the voice on the other end of the phone spoke one word and then there was silence. Turning to Sasa, a knot formed in his stomach as he repeated what his spy had reported. They’d chosen the next one of them to die.

Plot:
A very unexpected book in every sense of the word! Given how many vampire romances I have read I'll say it takes a lot to get me absorbed in a book that I forget all others until I reach the end. Blood Avenged is one such book and was impossible to put down. Not because of it's high octane action or thrilling suspense, but because of the gut wrenching moments of passion and fear. Both elements were tastefully woven throughout the entire novel between Sasa, an empath human and Vasilije, a six hundred year old vampire. Page after page I was drowned by wanting Sasa to do anything to save her mother from death by sickness, but at the same token wanting her to grow a stronger backbone and fight for what she actually thought to be right. This point was a tug of war through two-thirds of the books all the while I completely understood her actions.

From the start Sasa is forced into one decision after another that takes her into a dark world that she knows very little about. From working with a voodoo queen to help her ailing mother to accepting the help of the treacherous vampire, Tatiana, Sasa is sucked into a whirlwind of deceit, lust and power.

Bad blood never dies and when Vasileje accidentally sires one of Tatiana's human 'pets' Tatiana finally acts on a six hundred year old grudge that propels the story forward by taking them from London to New Orleans and into a cat and mouse game of murder and justice with Sasa thrown in the middle. Playing as spy for Tatiana at first, Sasa uncontrollably falls for the one vampire that could kill her if he finds out who she is working for. Danger set aside, the thrilling lust and passion shared between the two dripped off the pages and seeped into my every pore, becoming my very own brand of heroine! You've been warned! And when you too become addicted to Ms. Bisset's vampires you'll understand.

When the ending approached and I found the satisfaction all romance readers love to read, the fun and excitement didn't stop there. No, more deceit and a deeper mystery is partially unveiled giving me a taste of who Vasilije really is and who the Sons of Navarus are. And beyond that, an exciting glimpse into the next installment of this new series!

Writing:
I really enjoy reading indie published books, but I am very strict in needing them properly edited. Ms. Bisset is obviously like minded in this regard and holds her readers in high respect, because each of her books provide readers with clean and well written stories. She also writes with great attention to the emotions of her characters which always pulls at mine own, making me want to scream one minute with frustration and cheer the next as her characters grow into the 'people' I know they can be. Couple that with smooth flowing prose and you have Ms. Bisset's writing style.

Summary:
A very well written and emotionally exhaustive paranormal romance book! I loved it! I love finishing a book and thinking, "Wow, I've got no more left"! Bisset is rapidly climbing up in the world of PNR and is a definite must-watch-for writer! I can't wait for the next book in her new Sons of Navarus series!

I loved this book and am excited that it's a new series. I will say this upfront, this is very erotic stuff so if you are not looking for a generous helping of cayenne heat, keep moving. I am not sure where I found this other than it was mentioned on a blog. I am going to have to pay more attention to that detail in the future.

The bold hand Ms. Bisset commanded in creating the hero, Vasilije was pure magic. He is an Alpha male that was not looking to become a hero or to fall in love with our heroine, Sasa. The heat between these two nearly melted my Kindle. The banter was priceless as well. Vasilije was really unrepentant in his deeds and had no problem with the 'love them and leave them' approach. Unlike most long lived vampires, Vasilije's boredom did not make him a whinning poet. He was full of piss and vinegar, not willing to explain himself to anyone. Sasa was unexpected. She made some difficult decisions that led to her becoming involved in a centuries old mess. Sasa was human but she was no wilting flower. She handled herself quite well and she handled Vasilije quite well too.
Their meeting happens as the result of one of Vasilije's children being murdered. Vampires in this series can teleport immediately to anyplace they have been. Vasilije arrives upon the heels of the murder to find the crying 'girlfriend' of his now dust child. The 'girlfriend' was Sasa and she offered to help in his search for the killer. From this initial meeting, a mystery unfolded that wasn't really a mystery at all. Prior to Vasilije arriving in New Orleans, he was threatened by someone in London so he had a pretty good idea who was behind the event. This is not a very long novel but it's not a novella either. The ending introduces a prophecy and a group of guardians of which Vasilije belongs. This revelation leads to the introduction of future books. The next one is due in 2012 and I will be on it like a fly on watermellon.

Although I am going with 5 stars, it wasn't perfect. A few times I had to fill in a detail in my mind like Vasilije entering a home of a snitch without a stated invitation when it was needed for everywhere else. I didn't understand why the antagonist did not enter the place Vasilije was staying and stake him. The antagonist had been there before so no invite was needed. These were not deal breakers just irked me that I had to provide my own explanation.

If you call yourself a vampire fan, you need to grab this one. If you like erotic paranormal romance -- you need this on your TBR pile too. It's so good!

Blood Avenged is a sexy vampire novel that started off with a lot of promise. Vasilije is a vampire set on revenge. He is dark and sexy and doesn't care about or follow the rules. For me, all that changes once he's in New Orleans and meets Sasa. Once he's fully wrapped up in her, the sex appeal waned. I wanted Vasilije to be utterly and totally ruthless and I didn't get that from him.

If you're looking for hot sex, then you will definitely find it in Blood Avenged. The hot sex is what kept me reading once I no longer cared about the plot or the characters. Sasa was a character that did not pull me in. I found her actions dumb and selfish even though her intentions were good. But throughout the book, she kept doing dumb stuff and it drove me crazy.

There were some aspects of the plot that were not fully explained. One in particular involved the voodoo priestess and her using a spell on Sasa. We never find out the hows and whys. If the author wasn't going to expand on that aspect, it should have never been brought up.

I found the ending predictable. I didn't care about the characters or their HEA. The ending was kind of abrupt and then there's an epilogue that sets up the next book(s) in the series. The information that was provided in the epilogue, I wish was provided in the beginning or throughout the book because all of a sudden we find out that Vasilije is part of an Order that is being targeted. When I read that, I was like what? Since when?

Blood Avenged was not a terrible read but I found that I could not get lost in the plot or care about the characters. The sex scenes were hot and steamy and that's what kept me reading. I don't think I will be continuing on with this series.

An OMG amazing erotic vampire novel by Gabrielle Bisset that's guaranteed to keep your interest as if it's the first vampire story you've ever read! I highly recommend it to be read by any and all fans of vampires (especially if you like the good looking alpha types).

Sasa has not been able to have much of a life since her mother's illness. She has no social life what-so-ever and basically revolves ALL around her mother. That is until she makes a deal with a female vampire to help her save her mother's life and stop her suffering.

Vasilije is a very old vampire that really is hot stuff! He is very powerful and knows exactly how to get what he wants. When he wants it! But what happens when he becomes unsure of what he wants? The unexpected that's what :)

This story I had everything I want to see in a vampire story, it was fantastic. This is the story of Vasilije, a vampire who is hundreds of years old. In the society of vampires it is illegal to sire new vampires without the permission of your sire. In fact, its impossible to do a lot of things without your sire’s permission. That’s why Vasilije is different, he no longer has a sire. With no sire left on this Earth, he is able to make his own decisions about everything. And he decides he wants to sire many new vampires. And he does! It almost seems like he creates a new sire whenever he gets bored. The story starts with him following Alex, who he has been drawn to for some time. Finally the time comes and he is able to change Alex into an immortal.

What drama that brings! You’d think it’d be no big deal, I mean Vasilije is this big tough (and sexy!) vampire. Except Alex was the boyfriend of someone from Vasilije’s past, which would probably be good information to have ahead of time! And she is not exactly happy about his decision to change Alex. Meet Tatiana. Tatiana is… well, she’s a bitch.

In the revenge struggle between Tatiana and Vailije a young woman named Sasa comes into play. I really liked her character for the passion she had, but some of her decisions were a bit lacking in general logic. She gets herself involved in a battle between two vampires – not too smart! Granted, she did it for the most unselfish of reasons, but you’ve got to know that it is not going to end in roses and sunshine (haha, when does a vampire tale ever end in sunshine??) And that goes doubly so when you fall for one of the vampires. Even so I found her to be likable - even more so when she was with Vasilije, who was about as hot as can be!

Lets talk about the two of them together. The sparks between Sasa and Vasilije are infuriating! The chemistry was so great that I was eagerly waiting for more intimate scenes with them. The down time was infuriating LOL. Sasa is an empathy and Vasilije is a vampire whose every sense is heightened. When they get together the words practically burn the page with the sensuality of it all. And the feeding scenes, woooooooo boy! They make me want to rush out and find Vasilije and just hope he picks me! The man has definitely got some skill – a lot of skills!

So Sasa is working for Tatiana and then falls for Vasilije. And he falls for her. And I was so sad knowing that when the truth came out of this little secretive triangle, it would just break both of their hearts. This takes everything that has happened and just shatters it and sets it on fire. I want so badly for them to be together, but with a secret like this, how can you move forward? *Sigh*. I guess that is why you have to read the book, right?

On top of it all, it turns out there is really something much bigger going on here than a revenge scheme between the two vampire rivals. Something I totally did not see coming, but I am so excited for because it means there are definitely more books in this series!

This was my first novel by this author and I will definitely be reading more by her. Vasilijie is everything I look for in a vampire. He makes no excuses for his behavior. He is what he is and enjoys every minute of it. This story is fast paced and doesn't waste any time with extra "fluff". Sasa was put in a terrible situation when all she wanted to do was save her mom. She's pulled into Tatiana's plot for revenge without knowing the true implications. The author wastes no time jumping right in to hot scenes between Sasa and Vasilijie and the whole time you worry how she will hold onto him when he learns the truth.

The epilogue was great, introducing you to a whole new cast of characters and sets the stage for her next series following the Sons of Navarus. I can't wait to read it!

Blood Avenged was just ok I didn't dislike and I didn't really like. The story has no depth of character. The world in which the vampire Vasilije and Sasa are living has no depth its just says they are in Louisiana. Ok what did the place look like? what kind of clothes? were they wearing or what color in the furniture? Something to give it a surrounding. The Vampires have no real paranormal abilities. Yeah they can vanish they can enthrall, but thats it. There is noting to set them apart. There's nothing special or new about this storyline. But It was an Okay story. I just wish it was more!! I did listen to it on audible book, maybe if I had read it, it would have been better. The narrator John Lazaro was not very good.

WOW!!! After reading this book that's the only word I can come up with. ;)

This book was great and I absolutely LOVE Vasilije!! He is hot, sexy, and everything a woman hopes for in a vampire. The story and world that Gabrielle creates in this book is one that I deeply enjoyed. It is great to find a series where the vampires are strong, sexy, dark, powerful, erotic, and preferably don't sparkle. ;)

I am so excited for the next book in the series "Blood Betrayed", and I've already purchased it. I can't wait to start it so that I can go back into Gabrielle's world and fall in love all over again. <3

Absolutely amazing series. This is the first book of 8 in a continuing series. I highly recommend this series to everyone.

This kept my interest from beginning to end. Hot Alpha Vamps that are loving and protective of their mates while fighting off the ones that threaten all of the "Sons" existence. The story will leave you breathless and panting for more. Cannot wait for the next in this series!!

I'm not even sure what to say about this book. I was so glad when i was able to finally finish it. Sasa annoyed the ever living hell out of me. I mean really girl? You didn't think getting involved with Vampires was a bad idea? Just the idea that she thought her Mama would be fine made me roll my eyes. Vasilije was just lame, for lack of a better term. The plot dragged and it wasn't interesting for me.

I'm always interested in trying new-to-me authors and their books which hopefully will become a new favorite author who has introduced me to a new character or new creative make-believe world. While this book offered a decent general plot and I liked where it was going with some of the characters, I just couldn't seem to feel a strong connection.

The story opens in present day London with an older vampire, Vasilijie, cruising a bar for some new blood. He has spotted a human he thinks will be a great addition to his vampire line. When Vasilijie takes Alex, he learns after the fact that Alex was the human boy toy of another older vampire and enemy, Tatiana. Tatiana demands that Vasilijie give Alex back to her, but he decides to keep Alex as a small first step of revenge he feels toward Tatiana who killed his sire. Tatiana promises revenge for this slight by doing something that will hurt him personally.

Not long after, Vasilijie feels the death of one of the vampires he has sired. He races to New Orleans to investigate Teagan's murder and finds a human girl on the scene who claims to have been Teagan's girlfriend. Vasilijie is a tad suspicious, but he is strangely attracted to Sasa.

Vasilijie is right to be suspicious of Sasa because Sasa has made a deal with the devil in the form of an agreement with Tatiana. Tatiana sired Sasa's sick mother in exchange for the human empath's help in spying on Vasilijie. Sasa is reluctant to get into the middle of two vampires, but agreed so that her mother could be healed.

What Sasa didn't expect was that she would develop feelings for Vasilijie and finds it harder and harder to conceal the truth from him even as she dreads what will happen when he discovers it.

While Vasilijie and Sasa are dancing around each other as Vasilijie hunts down Teagan's killer, other forces beyond even Tatiana are at work.

As I said, I thought up front that the plot offered a lot of promise- a vengeful vampire and the woman sent to spy on him falling in love and waiting for him to discover her deceit. I think the story started to fall flat for me was when it struck me how incredibly dumb I found Sasa. I was all on board with her desire to have her mother healthy and whole, but her snap decision to have a vampire who she already sensed was evil (Sasa's an empath so she knows these things) change her mother into a vampire just seemed the height of stupidity. She didn't even check into what having a vampire sire another vamp would mean or whether her mother would want such a life changing thing to happen (I'd be nervous if Sasa cared about me for fear of what she'd agree to on my behalf). Then I didn't buy into how quickly Sasa fell for Vasilijie. Other than a quick tumble in the sheets, they really didn't have any sort of connection. And then it was followed by several other tumbles in between aborted attempts to 'help' Vasilijie get Teagan's killer. Her bouncing back and forth between smart punky comments to be taken along to hunt a vamp killer and then acting all 'I didn't know it would be this way get me away from this' (they're vamps, honey and Vasilijie warned you), was annoying for me too.
I didn't find the storyline very fluid either; I felt like I was jumping roughly from scene to scene with little transitioning taking place. It did have a fairly even pacing until the climactic meet between hero and villain, but then a rushed ending.
I also felt like the contents of the epilogue introducing the Sons of Navarus order and all the background of the vampire world stuff would have been better infused throughout the story or given in the form of some sort of prequel story or something. It just didn't feel right tacked to the end like that.

The epilogue did introduce a whole new plot thread that I am interested in pursuing plus I want to see if I find the sequel a better read with a different hero and heroine involved.

This story would appeal to the paranormal romance lovers who like a bit of intrigue along with lots of heat in the romance.

Blood Avenged is a vampire story that caught my interest with sizzling romance, a vampire brotherhood, and a feud activated.

Vasilijie is an old, unsatisfied vampire who continually creates new vampires. It seems that he sires new vampires out of boredom. When Vasilijie turns a vampire who belongs to someone else, his enemy Tatiana vows to get revenge and kills one of Vasilijie's vampires in return. Tatiana does not work alone, she coerces a human empath, Sasa, into helping her. Sasa is supposed to spy on Vasilijie, but she can't help her attraction to the dark and dangerous vampire. When Vasilijie discovers Sasa's treachery, Sasa and her mother are both in danger.

I have to admit that it took me awhile to really get into this story. I had a hard time relating to both Sasa and Vasilijie. Their connection was almost instant, and their relationship heated quickly, almost too quickly. They had barely met before they were warming the sheets (so to speak), but I didn't understand why they connected so quickly. I didn't feel the emotions attached to their relationship, in the beginning, so it took me some time to understand the characters and get into the story.

However, as the story went on, the characters began to open up a bit more and as I understood them better, I enjoyed their story more. I am not Sasa's biggest fan, the girl seemed very naive to me. She was working for two vampires, and didn't think about the consequences. Sasa had no idea what she was getting herself into, she didn't think things through and it showed. This made it very difficult to feel sympathy for Sasa and her situation. I did like Vasilijie, however. As the story went on, his true character showed more and more. He began to open up and overcome hurts from his past. The relationship between Vasilijie and Sasa may not be the strongest I have read, but the sex is hot and the pacing of the story was good and kept me reading.

I loved the ending of the book. The action picked up, and the story went in a direction I had not remotely expected. Vasilijie's conflict with Tatiana becomes only a small piece in a bigger puzzle as a new and bigger conflict arises. The stage is set for future installments in the series. Future heroes are introduced, and I am very intrigued by them.

While I would have liked a bit more explanation of the characters actions and emotions in the beginning of the book, I did get into and enjoy the story in Blood Avenged. By the end of the book, I was hooked and the set up for future books is very promising. Because of this, I rate this book almost 4 stars. Readers who like paranormal romance and vampire novels will enjoy this book. I enjoyed reading Blood Avenged, and I would read more books in this series in the future.

As this is the first book in the Sons of Navarus series this story is excellent. It kept my interest throughout the whole book and I did not want to put it down. If you love to read paranormal romance then you really need to read this book.

Sasa Lambert is an empath who has watched her mother suffer with pain daily and has done whatever she can to try to ease whatever pain she can, including giving her potions from the local Voodoo Priestess. Coming up with the money is becoming harder as time passes and she agrees to help the priestess read her clients in exchange for the potions her mother needs. What she didn't realize is her time of being undiscovered is about to end with a female vampire set on revenge. Making a pact with the vampire to save her mother she has no idea what she has truly agreed to.

Vasilije has been a vampire since the early 1600s. He is powerful because he has sired many, and answers to no one since the death of his sire not long after he was turned. When he no longer senses Teagan, one of his own, he transports to New Orleans to find out why and set forward his revenge. When he arrives he discovers Sasa in Teagan's home and believes she belonged to him, but he has no time to help ease her pain.

Sasa did not realize the female vampire meant to murder another, so she must make sure Vasilige never finds out her involvement. She offers to help him find the murder to keep herself from being discovered. He has not had feeling for anyone in centuries, but as they work together their feelings for each other start growing and he is closer to finding the truth.

Can he forgive Sasa of any involvement when he finds out? Will he decide to protect her or walk away? What will he do when he finds out the true reason the female vampire wanted him dead?
Join Sasa and Vasilige as they search for a murderer and discover new feeling neither of them expected and whether it is enough to keep them together or separate them forever.

What can I say about this book? When I started reading it I thought that it would be another usual paranormal romance, more erotic, but the same as many others. I’m glad I was wrong! I enjoyed this book very much and I have to say that it contains the best erotic scene I’ve ever read in a paranormal romance!

The story is about Vasilije and Sasa. He is the definition of a vampire: sexy, arrogant and dangerous. She is a simple woman who will do anything about her mother and who is kind of insecure about herself. Vasilije wants to create more vampires and his attitude isn’t the best. Basically, he things high of himself and he does always as he pleases. At the beginning I couldn’t believe that it’s possible for him to love someone besides himself but miracles happen! Unfortunately, he does a mistake and now he has to deal with an old enemy of his. Soon he will learn more about himself. He is not only arrogant and dangerous. He is also caring and forgiving. OK, not with everyone, only with the woman he loves. He is very lonely until then and he thinks that he likes his loneliness but I think that it’s a lie. He wants to be with other people but he’s afraid of showing weakness.

Sasa is a young woman who didn’t want to see her mother to suffer and she does a deal with a devil. She has to spy on Vasilije but soon enough she finds herself in love with him. I liked her but I didn’t like the fact that she thought that he has to forgive her no matter what! She did a huge mistake and my opinion is that she had to be apologizing all the time! But other than that, she was very nice. I wasn’t expecting the outcome with her mother and it made me sad.

This book is a very good start for a series and it’s very well-written. I will definitely read the next one and I totally recommend this book to all the fans of this genre.

Blood avenged is not just another vampire novel! I read a LOT of paranormal romance books and this is on my list to read again. I was completely taken in from the start!

Vasilije is a 400 year old vampire who's sire was killed in an act of vengeance and jealousy. With his sire gone, he has nobody to answer to. He has lived for centuries doing what he pleases. He has sired many of his own vampires in that time, so when he turned another young man, it was really no different then any other time. That is, until he finds out that this young man has connections to Tatiana. They have a history and it's an understatement to say that there is some bad blood between these two. From this point on their rivalry sets fire to the pages.

Sasa is an empath who is a human. She is taking care of her sick mother and would do anything to see that she is safe and not in any pain. Unfortunately, she gets caught up in the middle of Vasilije and Tatiana's conflict and she just doesn't stand a chance. She wants to do what's right but she must protect her mother at all costs. Talk about being caught between a rock and a hard place!

This book is HOT! Vasilije is everything you could ever want or dream about in a vampire! He is seductive and cunning. He has a very powerful and commanding presence. He is mysterious, dangerous and dominating. If you are looking for a dark and erotic romance with a sexy and fiercely passionate vampire, then you have found exactly what you are looking for right here! I look forward to reading more books written by Gabrielle Bisset!

Vasilije is known for his less than honourable ways among his brethren. He is manipulative, powerful, answers to no one, and seeks his pleasure above all else.
When tragedy strikes at his very heart, Vasilije is hell bent on revenge and nothing will stand in his way.
Vasilije heads to New Orleans with murder in his sights, but he is not prepared for his encounter with the lovely Sasa and the potent effect she has on not only his body, but his emotions.
Vasilije has seduced hundreds of women in his lifetime, but Sasa is not merely another conquest for this self-proclaimed womaniser, she has suddenly become his everything.
Sasa has managed to bring the ever aloof Vasilije to his knees and have him question whether his all-consuming desire for vengeance is worth the risk of losing the only woman to rouse the most insatiable passion he has ever felt.
Blood Avenged will draw the reader into a world where in the mists of a powerful struggle for dominance over an entire race, a hardened hedonistic Vampire is forced to look into his soul and question his very existence.

This was the first in the series "The Sons of Navarus". Just a warning if you don't like awesome, hot and steamy scenes, this is not for you. But if you love that, I highly recommend Blood Avenged. My interest was held throughout the entire book and left me wanting lots more. Vasilije is a strong, dominant and arrogant vampire. His story is fast paced and hardly slows down. There are twists and turns that you will never expect. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. Blood Avenged was a great start in the beginning of this series.

The ending increased its star rating

The book itself was good, the characters were diverse and intriguing. I just wasn't in love with the plot. It seemed shallow. I found my mind wandering trying to figure out how it could carry a series. Then all of a sudden the storyline had depth and a plot that made it more of a series than a standalone. I also love that that V and Sasa (while still may be important in other books I have to continue reading to be sure) storyline is complete making room for a supporting character to have his chance to shine in the next book.

Impassioned! Raw! Salacious! Blood Avenged by Gabrielle Bisset was one seductive read. From the very beginning readers will be given a taste of what made this book an erotic winner. This story of lust, revenge, and ultimately love never had a dull moment. Vasilije portrays the master vampire in a very magnetic way, and readers will be turning the pages to learn more. Great read, I hope to read more from Ms. Bisset!
