Ken Akamatsu (赤松 健, Akamatsu Ken, July 5, 1968 -) is a Japanese mangaka from Tokyo.

In his teenage years, Akamatsu failed the entrance exam to Tokyo University, and applied for Film Study instead (it is speculated that this is where he got the idea for Love Hina). Eventually, he became famous as an illustrator featured in Comiket (short for Comic Market, a comic convention bi-annually held in Japan). He used the pen name Awa Mizuno (水野 亜和, MIZUNO Awa). Akamatsu, still in college, then proceeded to win the Weekly Shonen Magazine award twice. His "A Kid's Game for One Summer" was awarded the coveted 50th Shonen Magazine Newcomer's Award soon after he graduated.

After a big hit with A.I. Love You, he finally made a grand success with his new manga, Love Hina. The series appeared in Weekly Shonen Magazine and has been collected in eleven volumes (with fourteen volumes in total), which have sold over 6 million copies in Japan, and received the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen in 2001.
Akamatsu had added elements of his own life experiences to the story, and this was said to have induced a unique feeling to the manga especially for Western readers, whose lack of familiarity with Japanese culture for the most part added to the effect. The series, published in America in 2002, was especially well received in many overseas countries - Akamatsu was surprised that even foreign readers found Love Hina to be "cute" and to their liking.

He is now married to his wife 'Kanon' Akamatsu, who was previously a singer/idol. He is currently working on his latest manga series, Negima!: Magister Negi Magi, which is his longest running manga so far. Like Love Hina, has also been made into an anime series. A second independent retelling of Negima was made called Negima!?. Both series were produced by XEBEC (Negima!? was produced by SHAFT).

Najzad upoznajemo jos jednog muskog lika koji ce imati veceg znacaja u prici. Woohoo. Plus prica se polako nastavlja i borbe postaju sve interesantnije.

I ovo je poslednja knjiga koju imam posto posle 5 delova su odlucili da vise ne prodaju ovaj serijal u Srbiji. Boooo.

We are beginning to learn some of the history behind Negi and his students. The books are slow reading because of the amount of material packed into them. I appreciate the helpful data included in the appendices.

Negima!: Magister Negi Magi is a highly entertaining manga series. In fact, it is one of the best ones out there and is in my top three favorite manga series. The action is fast and furious and there is always a lot of fun to be had. What makes the books so good is that is is always highly entertaining.

I had a very hard time putting this book down, especially when there were battles going on.

I was disappointed to find that Peter David was no longer doing the adapting of the story, but I found that Douglas Varenas seemed to do a fine job.

I really enjoyed the new sorcerers that attacked Negi and Setsuna. Personally, being a huge fan of Fantasy novels, the big magical battles are something I highly relish. Of course, the artwork is still excellent and the storyline is both exciting and chocked full of amusing circumstances.

Overall, Negima!: Magister Negi Magi - Volume 5 is another excellent book in this wonderful manga series that should not be missed by anyone. I can't wait to see how the field trip continues in Negima!: Magister Negi Magi - Volume 6. Maybe Negi Springfield will finally find his father.

I rated this book a 9½ out of 10.

When ten-year-old prodigy Negi Springfield graduated from university with a degree in magic, he never imagined he would soon be teaching English to a bevy of gorgeous high school girls. Now Negi’s old friend Chamo, a lecherous weasel from Wales, and student Asakura have arranged a competition among the girls to see which of the lovely students will be the first to kiss the teacher! Sure, a kiss will strengthen Negi’s magical abilities, but doesn’t this contest just support Chamo’s voyeuristic proclivities? On the other hand, Negi needs all the help he can get when the magical creatures of western Japan strike!

Ok. Here's what happens. There are five Negi's because the real Negi himself was trying to make a replace of himself, but made four mistake selves, and all five of them came to live, and caused havoc, making the game crazy, and the fake Negi's disappear after they have been kissed. Then the real Negi comes back, and then there's more. I'll stop there.

The first half of this is more ridiculous hi-jinks a la Love Hina and it wasn't until the second half that I actually was enjoying this volume. A contest for a bunch of girls to try to be the first to kiss a 10-year-old boy was a bit unappealing for me, but the battles in the second half were a lot more interesting. I loved Sakurazaki, again, in this volume, especially when she dresses up as an ancient Japanese samurai!

At any rate, it was more of what I expected from this series and it was decently fun.

Finally a solidly enjoyable volume witha a minimum of the perverse fan-service. In some ways this issue plays like a good old fashioned screwball comedy with misperceptions and character hijinks. It's just a shame you have to work so hard to get here.

My favorite volume so far. And, much unlike Akamatsu-sensei's other volumes, there is very very little fan service (No bath scenes, only a couple of panty flashes). I found that I like it better this way. More story, less fan service!

I was happy this volume got back to the magic of it all. And Nodoka's partner power is pretty awesome! I'm excited to see her in action more.
