There is quite a bit of repetition in the Life and Art section and the description painting wise. Also the author repeats the caveat multiple times that it's not possible to ascertain whether a painting is a portrait in constume or it depicts a historical scene. However the plates are adequate for making some studies of his work.

Ottimi gli apparati di Roberta D'Adda e ancor più l'introduzione di Giovanni Arpino (un marziano nel panorama spesso astruso della critica d'arte); il tutto a giovamento di un pittore eccezionale, oscuro e misterioso come pochi, che non ha finito di stupire.
