Rate this book
"I've always said that the best teachers are storytellers, and in the financial world, there aren't a lot of good storytellers! Jim Paris is an exception. In How to Pray for a Financial Miracle, Jim hooks you early with his personal story of financial success and failure, showing how God met him at the bottom and walked him into a whole new understanding of money, humility and, most importantly, godly stewardship."  Dave Ramsey - Author Of "The Total Money Makeover" and "EntreLeadership"

"I rarely have time to read books anymore with my intense schedule of media and speaking all over the world. But I was a guest on Jim's radio show. Next his book arrived in the mail. I was moved to bring it with me on my book tour. I read it on a flight to New York. It was marvelous, touching, spiritual, and inspiring. Jim has been through it all and come out on the other side. He has not only stayed positive, faithful, and inspired, his story will inspire YOU! I highly recommend 'How to Pray for a Financial Miracle.' The title is quite misleading. There was no prayer to be found. This was more of an autobiography and a sales pitch more than anything else. He provided guidelines on how to pray -- which I think most people know how to do -- but no actual prayer. I skimmed thru most of it. What a waste of 90 min.

beautiful

This book felt like exactly what I’ve been missing from my money story. I’ve taken so many courses and tried manifestation techniques but I think at the end of the day the only one that can make my story beautiful and worth is God. I’m so glad I found this book. Thank you!

Inspiring story and practical guide

I truly enjoyed the book for its practical guide to pray for financial help as is similar in Ignatian spiritual exercises. Plus the totally unique but relatable story he shares of his life was helpful.

I read better autobiography

If I wanted to read a motivational book I get Tony Robbins. I was expecting a prayer guide book not an autobiography about someone's personal financial failures.

I am a natural speed reader, so this book was a very quick read for me. An "average" reader can probably read it in a couple of hours. This is no "Trinity Broadcasting Network - Pentecostal 'name it and claim it' Prosperity Gospel" type of book. This is a book written by a Christian man who was a musician, moved into many businesses outside of music, was bankrupted by his own biological brother's embezzlement...and survived with a loving wife and three loving children. Times of trial, times of depression and suicidal thoughts. These events were so traumatic he was diagnosed with PTSD. But when times were the "best" or the "worst" he always went to God in prayer. He realized that GOD ALWAYS ANSWERS PRAYERS...and sometimes that answer is "NO". But he gives great Biblical advice in proper stewardship of what God gives you financially. I could not recommend this book more.

Plus you can't beat the price. As I am writing this it is FREE FOR PURCHASE (not a "Kindle Prime Borrow" book), but free to anyone who goes to Amazon and clicks "Buy" if you would like the Kindle version...and the print version is not too expensive either.

I am not an "e-book" reader that much because of visual problems related to reading an electronic format (with my vision I can detect the 60 cycle "flicker" in American Alternating Current, and I also have photophobia)...so I prefer the "printed page" whenever possible. But even enduring that for the half-hour or less that it took me to read, was not too unpleasant.

Nobody has an excuse to at least read this book. It is not "preachy", this is a "financial adviser" who happens to be Christian and believes in a "higher power"...he is not a "Pastor". So even an Atheist/Agnostic/Secular Humanist could gain major financial perspectives from this book. Faith is not a prerequisite, but it helped him in the darkest of times, so that is why it is geared to a more "faith based" audience, no matter what faith that may be, or what you call your "higher power".

I just realized the time it took me to thoughtfully write out this review, was longer than it took me to read this well written and easy to understand book. Think of it as a "mini-biography" of a man, that co gains lessons that you can learn from.

Again, I could not recommend it more.

I highly recommend this book.

It is:

1) Easy to read; not a lot of erudite financial terms
2) Easy to follow his thought process
3) Filled with anecdotes
4) Believable
5) Entertaining
6) Backed by scripture
7) A quick read
8) Riveting -- that is, if you have ever faced really serious financial issues
9) Relevant

10) And this is why I'm not giving it five stars: It is in serious need of a go-over by a competent editor. Sorry, Jim. Your business partner Bob Yetman may know money, but he is not an editor. The editorial problems in this book are like sitting in the front pew listening to your favorite evangelical speaker, but throughout the entire sermon his fly is open. When the sermon's over--no matter how enlightening--all you remember is the squirm factor.

This is a great resource.

This is a great book to give people hope in the future. Mr Paris lost everything and through his faith he was able to regain sanity and happiness.

Worth reading whether you struggle with finances or not.
