The Real Story of Judge Roy Bean

Rate this book
Judge Roy Bean was one of the harshest judges in the Wild West, and some of his rulings took on a comical aspect although they usually brought the criminals to heel.Judge Bean kept all the fines, which were usually established by the amount of money the person being tried had in his pockets. The judge had been on the wrong side of the law himself, having murdered a couple of renegades. When he got into the dairy business, he was accused of diluting the milk with creek water. The milk buyers were finding minnows in their milk."I guess I'll have to stop letting those cows drink from the creek," was his answer.Judge Roy Bean is a delightful story that will both amuse you and taunt your wisdom.

Some of this is amusing but the amount of corruption in this area at this time was unbelievable.
