Masashi Kishimoto (岸本斉史 Kishimoto Masashi) is a Japanese manga artist, well known for creating the manga series Naruto. His younger twin brother, Seishi Kishimoto, is also a manga artist and creator of the manga series O-Parts Hunter (666 Satan) and Blazer Drive. Two of his former assistants, Osamu Kajisa (Tattoo Hearts) and Yuuichi Itakura (Hand's), have also gone on to moderate success following their work on Naruto.

Kishimoto's first work as a manga artist was Karakuri (カラクリ?), which he submitted to Shueisha in 1995. This earned him the Weekly Shōnen Jump's monthly "Hop Step Award" in 1996, granted to promising new manga artists. This was followed in 1997 by a pilot version of Naruto (NARUTO-ナルト-), published in Akamaru Jump Summer. In 1998, Kishimoto premiered as a Weekly Shōnen Jump artist with a serialized version of Karakuri in Weekly Shōnen Jump, but it proved unpopular and was canceled soon after. In 1999, a serialized version of Naruto began publication in Weekly Shōnen Jump and quickly became a hit.

A bit more saviour!Naruto than I really would've liked but the killer in the hospital and the Bee storyline were pretty great. Especially the former. :) If only Kishimoto would remember how intelligent Sakura is more often. Give the girl things to do, she manages so well when you give her just five minutes. 3.5 stars

Finally, away from the B teams and on to the A team. Naruto has joined the fray and I can't wait to see what he has in store.

Too bad he has to prove his worth to the Raikage first, eh? Enough stalling!

I can't stand the "chosen one" trope, especially when it's used as a way to excuse lazy writing. The whole convincing the Raikage thingy was the point where I couldn't stand our main character anymore in the anime, and the manga is no exception. Too bad, I actually liked him a lot more than his anime counterpart.

All the credits to Tsunade for once again being a good leader and excellent tactician by allowing Naruto and Bee to go to the frontlines. The Jinchuriki should've been allowed to join the fight from the very start, but of course, we needed a reason to drag out the story for a while, didn't we?

This is the first taste of Naruto literally becoming Jesus Christ. Not a huge fan. This arc goes to some truly puzzling places. This series was perfection for so long. I don't know what happened. I think that Kishi was overworked. He deserved a lengthy hiatus before this arc so he could relax a bit and prepare for the last stretch. I feel so bad for Mangaka. They are worked to the bone week by week.

Irka fails to persuade Naruto not to join the fight. Naruto is unable to stand by while people die for him. Bee follows to help him. Zetsu continues to battle the mizukage protecting the nations' leaders. Madara summons the Gedo statue to attack Shikamaru's group.

Naruto tells the Nine Tails that he will stop the war, save Sasuke, and maybe even end the hatred inside the Nine Tails. Meanwhile, Itachi and Nagato have been commanded to attack somebody, but they don't know who yet. Some of the white Zetsu have taken on the appearance and chakra of shinobi. They are infiltrating and killing the ninja, especially the healers, who think they are allies. One impersonates Neji and tries to kill Sakura. It is revealed that Sakura is still in love with Sasuke. (So telling Naruto she loved him was a lie?)

Tsunade and the raikage try to stop Naruto and Bee from helping the shinobi and putting themselves in danger. However, Tsunade changes her mind and she, Bee, and Naruto persuade the raikage. There is also a long flashback about the raikage and Bee.

Madara has taken the resurrected jinchuriki hosts and replaced their eyes with one sharingan and one rinnegan.

This is a review of the entire series.

Once upon a time, the spirit of an evil Nine Tailed Fox wreaked havoc on Konohagakure; the Village Hidden in the Leaves, killing hundreds of honorable ninja in the skirmish and leaving many children without homes or parents. The Fourth Hokage (leader of the village) unleashes a forbidden jutsu (magic spell/ninja ability) to seal the spirit of the evil fox into the body of a newborn baby named Naruto at the cost of his own life. He did this in the hopes that the boy could one day learn to master the power of the demonic spirit and use it to protect the village and become a great hero of the people.

Unknown to the citizens of the Leaf, the Nine Tailed Fox was being controlled by an even more powerful adversary, a legendary rogue ninja that plans to wage war against the entire world from the shadows. The identity of the mysterious ninja that attacked the Leaf Village using the Nine Tails died with the Fourth Hokage, and he used what remained of his life to gift Naruto with the power of one day being able to stop this evil ninja and a clan of outlawed S-rank criminals called the Akatsuki from committing mass genocide against the many hidden villages and clans of the world.

Because of the evil spirit sealed inside him, Naruto grew up hated by the other children of the village because they believe him and the Nine Tails to be one and the same. They believe he’s a ticking time bomb waiting to go off, waiting for the perfect moment to kill them all just like the Nine Tails killed their parents and families. Shunned, dehumanized and treated like dirt, Naruto vows to become the greatest hokage the world has ever seen so that he can receive the love and acknowledgement he never got as a child.

On top of the Nine Tails power and the will to never quit, Naruto also possesses the uncanny ability to turn everyone he meets into a potential comrade. He brings out the best in his peers and tries his hardest to make his enemies see the errors of their ways. He disobeys the rules and ignores cultural traditions to try and make changes to the world and break the eternal cycle of war and hatred through his own methods. His determination is infectious to friend and foe alike. He earns himself the respect he deserves by overcoming one impossible obstacle at a time.

Naruto encounters many fascinating and terrifying ninja over the course of his journey to become hokage. Among them are Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto’s best friend and rival who is driven by the vengeful lust to murder his elder brother after he wiped out their own clan in cold blood. Sasuke warms up to Naruto, but his hatred and trauma are dangerous forces that threaten to break his moral code as a ninja and destroy his reputation among his peers.

Kakashi Hatake is a notorious copycat ninja that survived one of the most brutal and devastating wars in history as well as the Nine Tails attack on the Leaf Village. He becomes Naruto and Sasuke’s mentor and teaches them a great number of valuable lessons about surviving in the dangerous world of rogue ninja, bloodthirsty assassins and clans ruled by corruption.

Jiraiya is a perverted yet wise sage who taught the Fourth Hokage everything he knew and he’s regarded as a god among shinobi that’s famous for his heroic actions in the second great ninja war. He takes an interest in Naruto and raises him as a father figure to carry on the legacy of the Fourth Hokage to prepare him for the many dangerous people that want to use his power for their own nefarious purposes.

The Akatsuki is one such group of wicked ninja. Among them are Sasuke’s brother Itachi who murdered his clan and possesses many dangerous techniques involving illusions, psychological torture and elemental manipulation. Sasori who controls poisonous puppets with magical threads, Orochimaru who mastered the forbidden arts of reanimation and quasi-immortality, Deidara who fights from afar using detonating clay and many other deadly foes.

The entire series chronicles Naruto and his fellow ninja comrades growing through countless trials and tragedies. There are hundreds of unique jutsus, clans, and techniques which lead to some very intense, creative and strategic battles between skilled ninja with diverse abilities that don’t always match up evenly. There are clan based abilities such as the Aburame clan’s ability to control insects, the Yamanaka clan’s ability to jump into other people’s minds and control their bodies and the Inuzuka clan’s ability to bond with wolves that learn to mimic their master’s battle skills. Then there’s ocular genetic abilities such as the sharingan which allows the user to create psychological illusions, copy their enemy’s abilities and manipulate elemental energy. The byakugan allows the user to read their enemies vital points and detect their spiritual energy from faraway. The rinnegan grants control over space and gravity and so on.

On top of having countless unique abilities, nearly every character has a tragic backstory that makes them sympathetic and relatable, even the nastiest of the villains have well-explored reasons for following the paths they do and becoming the way they are. One of my favorite aspects of the series is how well it explores the physical, emotional and psychological effects war can have on society and culture as well as the survivors and future generations that are forced to live in them. How it breeds racism and cultural disputes, how it inspires hatred in orphaned children and war veterans robbed of their homes toward foreign nations, as well as how this eventually leads to further death, war, poverty and destruction. Learning to forgive the ones you hate to prevent further conflict and damaging the world for future generations even further is a major theme throughout the story.

Being a massive 700 chapter series, it’s not too surprising that there’s some plot holes and consistency issues. A rule might be stated regarding the requirements and usage of a certain jutsu or ability only for that rule to be repeatedly broken 400 chapters later. Sometimes the characters and rules contradict themselves, sometimes the chronology of certain events and historical facts don’t match up perfectly, the lore and general backstory go through several retcons that change the philosophy and power scaling of the characters and the scope of world-building; the final arc especially drags on and breaks a lot of the logic and rules that the story spent the whole series setting up, etc...

Naruto’s far from perfect, but I remember it very fondly for being one of the first series that introduced me to things like manga and Japanese entertainment in general. It was one of those childhood classics like Dragon Ball, Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin. The series grew up with me and I can’t help but feel grateful to it for introducing me to hundreds of other franchises that I’m still a huge fan of to this day and I continue to find many new ones on the regular. Naruto's journey from a clownish, disrespected outcast into a talented, well-loved and admired hero is a memorable one.

This was absolutely incredible, the events were amazing and truly enthralling, I liked Naruto’s clash with the Raikage even though I don’t like the Raikage very much and i find him extremely annoying, but still it was always great to see Naruto convincing even the most stubborn ninjas with his determination. I also liked Bee and Raikage flashbacks they were heartwarming and gave depth to Bee’s character, whom I’ve always found somewhat superficial. Also it’s always great to see Minato he’s one of the coolest characters in the entire series and he’s scenes are always interesting.

I liked the parallels between how Iruka views Naruto and how the nine tails views him, Iruka is always heartwarming and one of the kindest characters in the series i never get sick of him treating Naruto like a little brother, on the other hand nine tails is always trying to bring Naruto down and reveals to him the hatred he carries in his heart and this creates a perfect setting for Naruto to challenge his beliefs.

My only complaint is the whole Neji’s subplot with the medical department was boring and truly disappointing, i mean they could’ve went further with it and challenged Madara’s scheme in a more tactical way than what happened, although i liked the bit where the patient tried to confess his love to Sakura it was cute and showed a side that isn’t usually dealt with in the series.

The beginning of this volume struggled to hold my interest, but the last two chapters were beautiful and are an excellent example of why Naruto is such a good series.

Naruto is a series I will always love. It is my favourite animanga series and it's not all nostalgia. I can clearly see every fault, discrepancy, plot hole and character fail in the series. But it cannot take away from everything I love about the series. The biggest thing has always been its heart and emotional impact. Where I'm meant to feel sad, I felt it. Where I'm meant to feel joy, I felt it. Anger, confusion, disbelief, all of it hits every time exactly as it should.

One character who perfectly encompasses the heart of Naruto is Iruka. He makes his appearance quite infrequently as the story has progressed, but it's always for an emotional delivery. In this volume, he's come to remind us of where Naruto started and why he's gonna fight. He just can't stop, he's got loved ones to protect now. The message was very simple "come back alive!!" I'm sure every shinobi hears that when they go on a mission, but not the boy who didn't have anyone to come home to. That Naruto eats the message has to have meaning. It's not because there's no bin around. He takes the words into himself. As he has carried Iruka's words for almost 5 years. "That is no longer your demon fox. He is a citizen of Konohagakure village - Uzumaki Naruto!" He's fought hard to be a citizen and to have a family. His big brother, his clan. "Why should you continue to bear the burdens of everyone else?" I'm glad he said it. But, boy's gonna do it because it's his fate to "face eternal hatred…the pain that does not heal" and eradicate it. Only he can.

I love Sage mode. The orange eyeshadow is gorgeous and it always gives Naruto a kinda pretty-boy look that he must love because his great idol Sasuke is a pretty boy. But, seeing the toad eyes up close on page 16 was kind of disconcerting. They look like goat eyes. The most horrifying of eyes in all nature. Arachnid eyes aren't that bad, they just have lots which is creepy. Goat eyes, even 1 single eye, are the worst. From far or in smaller panels, it doesn't look so bad, but close up is a bit much.

Where did those random French people at the border come from?

Seeing the Gedo statue actually fight was very interesting because it looks like a person and I used to think it was the Sage of Six Paths. It/he was chained up so I thought maybe he was the "God" of shinobi and the shinobi all became corrupted and they locked him up after he shared his power and grace with them. I later found that this theory was not right. So at the time I thought Madara had enslaved him to fight.

Kakuzu really was pissed about being killed wasn't he. "Um, we just won." So petty at his grand old age.

We learn that in 1 day, half the shinobi population, or those in the main force, have died. That's a hell of a lot of people. They're also losing people to treachery because of Zetsu's spawn infiltrating their ranks. A problem to which there is only one solution. The hero must sniff out the importers with his new ability to sense bad vibes.

Lucky for them, Naruto's on his way and he's got Bee's help. He's also got some of the Kyuubi's chakra, but not the Kyuubi himself. On his way to the battlefield, the Kyuubi calls out to Naruto, offering his help. He tries to entice Naruto, but Naruto's grown up and doesn't fall for it nor does he think he needs the boost right now. Once again he taunts him with the burdens of war and hatred, of what it has done to dear Sasuke. Sasuke who's hatred Naruto has seen since his youth. This flashback of Sasuke's hatred towards the other children who he saw as frivolous and weak, the same children who treated Naruto like he was the problem. And Naruto's main problem? That Sasuke wasn't acknowledging him. Such words fall on deaf ears. Naruto will never be swayed off his path, he is determined to carry burdens for everyone because he knows how hatred feels to carry. Even the age-old hatred in Kyuubi. "I'm coming after all that hate inside you too someday." Don't know if the art changes or my perspective, but the Kyuubi was really starting to look cute in this volume.

Tonton saved the day. It was the lack of his hands that helped Sakura defeat a zetsu spawn. Everyone else is finally seen and pulling their weight in this fight. "If you love him he must be a good man" and then the flash of Sasuke was so funny to me. I wish she'd left that behind for good. It would've done her so much good.

Another obstacle Naruto and Bee face on the way to the battle is the Raikage and Hokage. Ay wants the jinchuriki locked away, but Tsunade changes her mind when she hears what they have to say, there was never really any doubt, she's always been one of Naruto's biggest supporters. Was the whole "you shall not pass" thing a LotR reference? I hope so. Naruto is not going to allow people to sacrifice themselves for him. As he has time and time again told us, taking on burdens is his thing. To be honest, he's messed up. He had no love in childhood, only hatred, so now he's made it his life's goal to not allow anyone else to experience that pain by taking it all on himself like a sacrificial lamb. It is the lot of most heroes.

I had issues with Minato's decision to leave it all on Naruto, but honestly at this point I'm going with it. What's done is done. Naruto will not have anyone slander his father. His dad did make the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of the village he ruled and it was noble for a leader and Naruto who aims to be an even greater leader is very much willing to follow in his footsteps. Minato was the saviour of the Hidden Leaf and he made Naruto the chosen saviour of the entire world. But the word "sacrifice" gets bandied around alot. Kishimoto once spoke of an old idea he had to have Naruto die in the war, sacrifice himself, and Sasuke take on his dream of Hokage. Whilst this would have been interesting and I absolutely love a tragedy, the boy who was chosen by fate and his predecessors to be the saviour is the sacrifice, I also cannot bear to see a character who suffers so much have to bear that final burden. Naruto is the kind of hero who would do it, but I really wouldn't be able to take it as a reader.

The only one who can really change Ay's mind is his brother Bee. It is so sad to see Ay spew that political sh*t about Jinchuriki belonging to the village and not being free. We see where it comes from, he is a political leader after all, but he wasn't always like this. Ay and Bee had such a beautiful bond. Bee was definitely insufferable with his raps, but he was so cute as a child. Ay trained him and cared for him, helping him become his equal, his partner in their ultimate tag team. And he gave Bee that elusive bright love that jinchuriki's find so hard to obtain in their lonely path as the bearers of the monsters that destroy their very own villages. Even Minato saw it and remarked on what Ay had achieved before even he saw it. But little brothers won't always be little. He's got to grow to become a fully realised person, and he's desperately going to want freedom. Which Ay takes from him when he takes up the Raikage mantle, because now he can't think as Bee's brother who wants the best for him, he's also Kumo's leader and has to do what he thinks is  the best for the village, even at the cost of Bee's happiness. In banishing Bee from his side, he failed to see him grow stronger. He didn't even realise why Bee could be locked away to become strong enough to protect the village, because he knew he was someone special to someone.

Bee and Naruto are not only fighting for their villages, they're fighting for the ones who give them the strength to fight, their loved ones, dead or alive. Bee likens them to suns. The source of power beyond the beasts within them. Ay and for Naruto there are two: his Ma and Pa. Favourite panel of the whole volume on page 174. It's a goddamn mural of his parents, his suns, and their glowing son between them. Naruto's happy he at least got to meet his mum and he's too cute in his joy for anyone to deny him. He looks wonderful in that glowing onesie.

Next volume we've got then running into a reanimated Nagato and Itachi which is going to be great and the jinchuuriki are revived. How dare Madara kill them and then torment them after death. No peace in life or death for jinchuriki apparently.

This book is already out on Mangafox and I honestly really enjoyed it. I used to think that Naruto was just some continuous manga with no plot but it really did prove me wrong. The characters have stirred up many feeling in me, from love to hate, showing that it really is a good series to read. Naruto has grown so much since the beginning. But considering that, the beginning of the series was less then ideal but later on I thought about it with fond memories.

Good book in a good series, can't wait for the next one!

Naruto volume 57 was great!!!! So much action with the atkatski and the forth great ninja war. Killer Bee helped Naruto so much. I recomend this to action lovers and thank you Kishimoto there is NO LOVE STORY!!!!!!! It is mainly about the forth great ninja war. (They are ninja) Tobi (obito uchiha) plays a great part in this of coruse he is the second best villan to me. So I would recomend this book also to manga lovers.

Still not a Naruto volume that is making me excited for this arc. So far vol. 53 was the only volume in this arc that I loved (I rated it 5 stars), but I haven’t found anything close to that in the couple of volumes before that or the ones after. I still regret buying the whole series (almost whole series, I still have a few left from the beginning (vol. 17-24). This series better get good again, otherwise I might just read the chapter summaries for all of them and then just read vol. 72 or vol. 71 and 72. There’s so much action going on in these last few volumes but I was so bored. This one did get a little better and I liked some chapters better than others.

First I will talk about the things and chapters I liked.
I enjoyed the mystery of who the mysterious killer in the medical ward is. Sakura also got a chance to shine a bit. It’s things like this where we see glimpses of how strong Sakura really is (despite those stupid memes about how weak she is, those just make the poster look dumb and weak, not her, people forget that just because she isn’t seen fighting against many strong opponents doesn’t mean she’s weak) and how useful and smart she is. She’s not one of my top favourite characters from this series but I don’t hate her. Anyone who says she’s useless is an idiot or hasn’t read/watched the series. Did they forget that she was the only one who was able to create an antidote to cure Kankoro of Sasori’s poison? That she killed Sasori? Also, there’s something I’ve been spoiled of from one of the later volumes where she keeps an important character alive. Apparently, to some of the audience, healing isn’t important, only fighting is, which is so dumb because without healers, the fighters won’t be able to get back up. Healers are so under appreciated, in fantasy and in real life😔 Anyways, I wish Kishimoto would remember to show more of her intelligence and strength instead of just showing us her crying about Sasuke or getting mad at Naruto over everything or just sitting there doing nothing while the others are fighting. So far in this war, I’ve only seen positives of Sakura’s character but who knows how long that will last.
Another thing I liked in this volume was Bee’s back story. Bee and Amy’s relationship is so cute and Bee was so tiny, so adorable. But he’s loved singing terrible rap since the beginning😂
I can’t think of anything else that I really liked and enjoyed in this volume.

What I didn’t like was the rest of it. I’m so tired of his hero complex. I don’t know why it doesn’t bother me when other characters like Ichigo from Bleach is like that but it bothers me when Naruto is, maybe it’s the difference in their attitudes? Not exactly sure🤔 Savior Naruto just annoys me while no other main character in a similar role has, since I usually love the chosen one trope. I think it partly might be because as a 30 year old, I understand the political side and why it wasn’t smart of Tsunade to always listen to Naruto (still love her and it’s still a toss up between her and Kushina on who’s the best female character in this series in my opinion).

Overall, I’m not sure if I will keep reading the volumes or just read the chapter summaries on the wiki until vol. 71 because so far I’m not enjoying this arc except vol. 53. I know it’s hard to top the Pain arc, that was so good but at least be as interesting as some of the other arcs.
