Nancy Pearl can do no wrong! This is an excellent reference book for booksellers, librarians and bibliophiles.

Look, Now Read This II is the best argument I've read against trying to be everybody's friend. Nancy Pearl makes the case that deep friendship needs time, honesty, and a little bit of inconvenience, and that our "wide but shallow" social lives leave us oddly empty. The chapter on showing up for hard moments hit hard, especially the story of a man who drove six hours to sit in a hospital waiting room without saying much. The back third gets repetitive. For anybody who wants closer, realer friendships. Skip it if you're looking for networking tips.

Kept me hooked in one sitting, which is wild since I'd been in a reading slump for weeks. Now Read This II: A Guide to Mainstream Fiction, 1990-2001 is built like a good thriller even though it isn't one, and Nancy Pearl knows how to end a chapter on a hook. A tad overstuffed near the finish. Perfect for slump-breakers, not for minimalists.

This is a great resource. I found a bunch of books to put on my to-read shelf, that I somehow missed out on when they were published. I'm astounded at how Nancy Pearl can compile so much information about books.
