Jameson's love knows no end, it shows no fear, and it won't accept defeat. It is for these reasons that Jameson has infiltrated the ministry in search of Jocelyn, the woman he cannot live without. While locked inside their enemies headquarters, he witnesses the stark reality of their desperate situation...The Sevens are ready for war; Jocelyn is their pawn to move as they wish; and time is running out for Jameson to free her and rebuild his army before The Sevens strike.
As their entire world hangs in the balance, Jameson and Jocelyn must find the strength to meet their destinies and fulfill the prophecy that has led them to this point. The time has come. Jameson must find a way to unite their world against The Sevens in one final stand. Jocelyn must accept her fate and take the Nobilis's life. But can they do it and survive? Can their love really conquer all?
Told from Jameson's point of view, this achingly poignant finale will show to what extent Jameson and Jocelyn will go to preserve their love, and each other's life.
Laury Falter is a bestselling author of young adult romantic suspense and urban fantasy. She conjures worlds in which love is born and tested against seemingly insurmountable events.
She has three series out: the Guardian Saga, the Residue Series, and the Apocalypse Chronicles.
....I am not quite sure what to say about this one....I liked it, there was a lot of action and it was intense and caused a lot of anxiety over certain events......but unlike the other 3 books, Jocelyn didn't have a POV, so it was all Jameson - I didn't really think it bothered me, but, this whole book was Jameson trying to keep Jocelyn away from EVERYTHING. He would have kept her in a nice little bubble if he could have.
Its like she wasn't really a main character at this point...Eran and Maggie [whom I love more than anything] had more of a part in this last book than she did. I was actually kind of disappointed....yes, the action was great, the storyline was pretty good.....but I didn't have a connection with it.....and the Epilogue...??? seriously!? That wasn't an epilogue, it was more of a prologue, and it wasn't even in the present starring Jocelyn and Jameson......I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM AFTER THIS STORY, I didn't get that, and this book was....not up to par. Sorry.
I had a little deja vu reading this book. The author concentrated so much on the violent resolution to Jameson and Jocelyn's conflict with the Sevens, just as she did with Maggie and Eran's conflict with the Fallen Ones in Reckoning, that there was not enough room for much of the love story. I did enjoy the collaboration between J&J and M&E to finish their "missions" however and I am glad both couples are getting their happily ever afters.
One question I do have is what happened to the rope of the Sevens that Jocelyn had? It was not mentioned at all in Prophecy and I don't remember what, if anything, happened to it in Savior. That's not to say it was taken care of, it's just that I've read many books in this genre that I may be forgetting some of the details.
Finishing this book was bitter-sweet. It was a well written, enthralling series that I couldn't put down. I loved every minute and marvel at Falter's ability to make everything seem pretty plausible in a world of witches. The ending to this one was a smidge anti-climactic, and I feel like (spoiler) having the "actual prophecy" revealed at the end was a shortcut to get around actually having to follow through with killing Jameson, but I enjoyed it all the same. Falter is a great writer and I will most definitely be reading her other series. But, as is common for end of last books, I was sad to finish it. Not only do I know have to say goodbye to Jocelyn and Jameson, but I also must leave Maggie, Eran, and all my supporting Alterums behind as well. :(
as much as i love maggie, i didn’t love how her presence essentially made jameson (and especially) jocelyn background characters in their own story. maggie has her own series to be the hero in. jameson has at least some use, but jocelyn, the alleged most important person in their entire world was completely useless. the relicuum and the nobilis served no purpose and the sevens would’ve been defeated without them, because the great magdalene tanner was there. it felt more like a celebrity cameo in a tv show than a combining of worlds.
taking down the fallen ones is something maggie does all the time and serves no real significance for her, but the sevens had been terrorising the witch world for centuries, and the two people foretold to bring an end to their reign pretty much had nothing to do with it (and yet claimed all the credit). maggie wasn’t mentioned at all in the records (real or fake) and yet she was the one to bring about their deaths.
jocelyn never bothered to learn how to fight and nobody ever took the time to teach her, so all she does in the conflicts between maggie & co and the sevens is stay back with theleo (who also served virtually no purpose in this book). in the end she picked up all four abilities and barely used any of them. the one weapon she has at her disposal, the rope of the sevens, was not mentioned at all in this book. the relicuum was supposed to be their savior, so why was she not part of their liberation at all?
how did they figure out which seven was weakened by which affliction? they never showed how they came to the conclusion of which bowl would kill each individual for the big fight scene at the ministry, and didn’t maggie say sartorius was resistant to fire? how was THAT what killed him in the end?
the “real” records being revealed at the end was clearly a rushed way of laury justifying not killing jameson off.
the storyline was incredibly rushed and anti-climactic and it would’ve been a lot better without maggie dominating the story. it’s clear as day that maggie is laury’s favourite character, and because of this, prophecy suffered.
it was nice seeing how jameson’s point of view differed from jocelyn’s but i did miss hers and it was hard to get used to his, especially because he apparently just sees her as a weak little girl who needs his protection, rather than the way that she sees him, as an equal.
laury falter has a habit of writing her characters as realising things that they’ve already realised chapters (or books) ago and acting as if it’s a new revelation that brings about a whole new change for them which is irritating. i’ve been able to look past it for the first 3 books in the residue series, but coupled with the rest of this…i’m afraid this isn’t a very good book.
I’m not going to rate this book because I don’t feel my rating would be fair.
I stopped reading when I started having my kids in 2014. This spring, I finally started getting back into it. This was one of the books I had preordered years ago before it even came out. It has been years since I read the first 3 in the series. I did go back and refresh myself on the previous books but once I started this one, I was just bored. I tried giving the first quarter of the book my attention, but I was so checked out from the series and I just couldn’t connect with it again, so I decided to skip ahead to the last quarter. Even when I started there, I still found myself not caring. It ended up with me skipping to the last chapter, reading through it, reading the epilogue (which spoiler alert is NOT an epilogue 🤦🏼♀️) and then shelving the book away.
I would rate this a 1 star based on my opinion of it now, but perhaps 6 years ago when I was more fresh in it I might have given it a better rating. Maybe one day, when I run out of new books to read, and I need something to do, maybe I will come back and re-read the series in its entirety. If I ever do, I’ll come back and more accurately rate it. For now, this goes on my too dull to finish shelf.
I found this series to be a bit bland. Nothing really stood out for me. I loved the author’s Apocalypse Chronicles but this one was just okay for me. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t amazing either. It’s a good read but I probably won’t be rereading it.
It's...all over? I'm going to miss these characters so much, this setting, everything. I loved this book to bits and pieces, loved the series as a whole. if you are looking for closure and the resolution of all conflict, and I mean all, then you will be so very happy. Personally, I was so pissed that But I'll be alright. Why did I give it 4 stars? Because I felt the resolution of some problems were too easy. But the characters all evolved in a lovely way (even Charlotte, who I mentally stabbed multiple times). The addition of Maggie and Eran did wonders, especially with the adjustment to Jameson's POV. I always thought of M&E's relationship to be very much like Jocelyn and Jameson. But they are different when put side by side, and their differences made them very strong characters, both in the literary sense and in the novel. I'm afraid of spoiling the ending, so I'll stop here.
Oh My Freaking Amaze-balls!! This was sooooooo fricking awesome and I liked the way it ended and the insight to the prophecy. I loved the prologue that you wrote which gave you insight on the originality of the prophecy. This book was beautifully written (just like the rest).
I loved the way you managed to bring both Eran & Magdalene into this series also. When I finished the Guardians trilogy I thought to myself....This can't end here and I was proven that it didn't with this series!
It's always sad for a series to come to an end but I am truly happy that I stumbled upon this series as from the 1st book I was glued and forever anticipating the sequels release.
I look forward to reading more of Laury Falter's books'.
Jocelyn and Jameson's love reaches no end and that is continually proved throughout this book. Separated, tortured, captured, etc. is what their love has put them through and it seems here that they have had enough. I got a little bored in this book just because there were so many parts that I didn't want to read because it either made me sad or bored. Maggie and Eran ally with Jocelyn and Jameson. i enjoyed reading them plan out how they were going to take down every seven. We know find out that they are more than human, more than the supernatural. Jameson and Jocelyn finally take their love to the next level, thinking it is surely their end.
I really enjoyed the Residue series, but felt pretty let down by the ending. When I put it down, I thought, really?? That's how you're going to end their epic love story?? Couldn't it at least have ended with a REAL date? A proposal? Something?! I thought it was odd that the last piece was about Maggie and Eran. Don't get me wrong, I liked their series, but give J&J their moment! Also, Jocelyn seemed different in this book -- the way she was written as a character, I felt, was weaker. In all, this was a great series and worth reading :)
Great idea to make the final book written from Jamesons POV. He has to rescue Jocelyn from the sevens where she is being held along with Maggie. They have to fulfill their destiny and the prophecy has to play out. I love the way Jameson believes in Jocelyn even though she is destined to kill him to stop the war. But as always things are never as they seem. Love maggie and eran in this story they made it a whole lot more interesting. It brings a new element to the story we have come to love. Great job. Couldn't put it down.
Overall, I enjoyed this series, having read the Guardian series first. My biggest problem with this book, and the reason I only gave it 3 stars, is that it is stated in this book that the term Nobilis had morphed from the original wording of the prophecy "noble lass". A lass is a girl, and the Nobilis is a dude. Every time I saw the word Nobilis after that revelation, I found myself totally distracted and trying to figure out which chick in the book was really the Nobilis. SMH.
I could not put this down. It is by far the best one in the residue series. It took a little adjusting to get used to Jameson's POV, but in all it turned out great. I like the fact that you were able to integrate Maggie and Eran into the story. I was not ready for their story to end, I am still not. : ( Laury you have done a wonderful job with the ending of this series. You brought each scene to life and make you feel like you we're part of the story. Great Job!!
I think, if possible, I loved this series even more than the Guardian trilogy! An amazing series that I'm astounded hasn't been found more fame. I also loved the characters from the Guardian Trilogy playing a part of these books to be delightful. I am always so sad when the books are done. Another delightful and imaginative read by the talented Laury Falter.
First, let me say that I enjoyed this series as well as other books by this author and I would recommend them. My only complaint is that it is written from Jameson's point of view and I found that confusing at times throughout the book. I prefer to be introduced to the alternating POV in some way in all of the books rather than all at once in the end.
I thought it was odd to switch to Jameson's POV, and it made me nervous after the Veronica Roth tragedy. But after adjusting it was enjoyable! I liked how Maggie, Eran and the forsaken intertwined in to the story. The ending was admittedly a little lack luster. Four books in and the end was wrapped up in the last 10% of the story. Still I do like laury's writing for a bit of brain candy!
Jameson and Jocelyn join forces with Eran and Maggie and become an unstoppable force. The threat of Jameson's death still causes tension and leads to fight amongst their families. And true to their housekeepers words....things aren' t always what they seem.
I loved this book. I found it all tied together so well, even adding Maggie and Earn back to the show made perfect sense. I was very happy to finally tie this book up and move on to. long live Jocelyn and Jameson!
I feel that this wasn't as climactic as I had hoped. I mean I felt that she defiantly could've pulled it out or killed Jameson and then miraculously brought him back to life. It just wasn't as heart wrenching and eventful as the guardian trilogy.

It was interesting to read from his pov. They shared a good love and it was a good book. Just wish the epilogue was different but it was still an awesome ending.
Great set of books, however they didn't keep me as interested as I hoped they would but so glad I finished all for of them. they turned out really good.
