Welcome to volume 23 where OMG KAIL NEARLY KILLS YURI?!
Naaah. She is totally perving on him Edward Cullen style and he's like 'WHO DARES?!' and the realizes and they make out. A lot. For a while.
Except apparently Yuri is way more disciplined and forces him to get out of bed the next day because he has RESPONSIBILITIES. For which Ilbani is very grateful because he's tired of lay about royals.
So a shit ton of battling happens in this volume. Now that Ramses is back to being General he's leading the charge against the Hittites and Kail refuses to back down. Its actually pretty tense as tactically Kail and Ramses are pretty evenly matched (this apparently matches history?), but Ramses, unlike Kail, is stuck with an incompetent glory-hogging ruler (his Pharaoh) and he basically botches everything you possibly could.
Meanwhile Yuri is nearly taken down (and Aslan! Omg Aslan!) by some idiot from Egypt who took exception to Yuri giving him the balls to start a rebellion then fleeing when she would die. Because that's reasonable. Way to go man you totally have the moral high ground here.
Yuri & Kail's reunion was ok. But the best part was when Yuri reunited with the 3 sisters then overhear the men teasing Kikkuri over Ruri's baby when in reality it is Shala who is pregnant; shocking the men. It seems Kikkuri couldn't tell the twins apart. Hadi insisting that Kikkuri look after both her sisters, which of course he agrees to escape her wrath. I also liked when Kail & Yuri's allies starts showing up especially Princess Alexandra & her pestering Il Ban scene.
I found this series on a mere coincidence but it quickly became one of my all time favourites. I read the entire series in 1.5-2 days. It was truly wonderful and a joy to experience.
Overall Rating: 2..../10 I re-read from teenager to grown up. Not the best idea...
This may be my third re-read of this series. I am pretty sure I read it twice in the first two years of it's release. I was young, I loved it. It was romantic. But after reading it this year (maybe +15 years later....), I was wrong. I just saw wrong turns, within wrong turns. Maybe as an adult, you see things differently.
If you,ve read a manga or book during your early years and end up reading them much later in life, you may end up like me- loving a series in the past and ruining it as the adult in you laughs for once enjoying them... :(
Do I recommend this: Unless you are under the age of 20 honestly...
