This easy-to-read book is the best all-round introduction to homeopathy available. Dr. Dooley intersperses stories from his twenty years of training and experience as he explains what homeopathy is, how it differs, when to use it, what to expect, how to get results, and what is needed for success in treatment. Highly recommended by homeopathic practitioners. The second edition includes updated resources and research sections.
Dr. Dooley is a licensed medical doctor practicing classical homeopathy, sometimes known as constitutional prescribing. It is a system of therapy in which very small non-toxic doses of natural medicines are prescribed to stimulate a healing reaction in a person.
A basic intro to homeopathy, I didn’t learn anything new. But it was a refresher. It would be a good, quick book for somebody who wants to learn the basics of homeopathy. It is 100 pages and very quick. This book does not teach about specific remedies, or anything like that. It’s just to learn what homeopathy is and how it works. It would be a good option for somebody who is skeptical, the author is a true M.D. and Naturopath, and homeopath.
Concise, easy-to-read book that gives the background of Homeopathy, how patients are treated using this modality, what the prescriptions are, etc. Lots of interesting case stories interspersed between the studies and other medical information.
This is a very nice introduction to homeopathy written by a medical doctor. It covers all the basics of classical homeopathy including their many assumptions of the fragility of remedies and the need of a homeopath for successful treatment. It is written very simply and clearly so people who may be skeptical may understand the principles.
Simple book to understand for those new to homeopathy. Well written and easy to read but lacks depth (which it's perfectly ok if primary interest is healing)
Tried to keep an open mind but the comparison of modern medicine to the flat earth theory lost me (page 4). Riddled with inaccurate science and grammatical errors. However, I do appreciate how the author acknowledged many (not all) shortcomings and fallacies of homeopathy. I wasn’t impressed with his justification of “yeah it’s weird but it worked in this one patient I had in 1979 soo..”. In general, I felt that his ‘evidence’ - if any was even provided - was entirely anecdotal, and he never cited any empirical studies to reinforce his claims.
The philosophy of homeopathy is not at all disagreeable, but it’s irresponsible to act as if the patient’s best interests are not also held in “allopathic” doctors. There are many instances of fear-mongering and sowing seeds of distrust in the medical field in this book, harbouring an animosity of modern medicine in a population that is already so opposed. To me, it’s negligent and unethical, but to him it’s another penny in the bank I guess.
Worth noting I fell asleep for a good hour or so at 12 pm while reading this. I’m not entirely sure of the purpose of the book, but considering there is very little actual science or theory, I’m going to assume it is entertainment / leisurely rather than educational. As such, this book was awfully boring and I wish I’d watched a good movie instead.
An interesting introduction to the philosophy and practice of homeopathy. Written in the 90s, I think it may not be as true of some modern allopathic practitioners as it was then. I’ve been to many conventional doctors that are attempting to be more “whole person” focused instead of just shoving pills at you as quickly as possible to get on to the next patient.
Anyways, homeopathy is an old medical practice based on giving patients a remedy that causes the same symptoms they’re experiencing if a healthy person takes it. So, if a healthy person takes this herb, they get dizzy. Homeopathy finds that giving someone struggling with dizziness a very diluted amount of that herb, it triggers the body to heal itself.
It’s all a very cool idea that makes sense from an ancient herbalist sort of way, yet it’s too bad we pushed it into obscurity a few generations back in the US, so we don’t have the research and infrastructure in place to have even further improved homeopathy here.

I have recently decided to look into homeopathy for myself, before making an appointment i wanted to have a bit of knowledge of how it works. This book is very easy to read & understand
A brief explanation of homeopathy and how it works, in easy to understand language. Great introduction book, and even better that it's found free online. I didn't learn a lot, but appreciated the simple explanations.
“The essence of illness is a disorder in the vital force…Whne the vital force [chi or prana] is restored, the whole organism recover health and the disease is cured.” Such an amazing read, easy to digest and understand. It teaches a simple holistic view of homeopathy.
A great introduction to homeopathy. I recommend it to anyone who wonders what homeopathy is. The book is available as paperback or free online at http://www.beyondflatearth.com/
