Wall Street Journal & USA Today Bestselling author, Nana Malone writes Sexy Feel-Good Romance and loves of all things romance and adventure.
That love started with a tattered romantic suspense she "borrowed" from her cousin. It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She's been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.
Book two in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Stilettos is lovely and fun. Our heroine is a bit shy but comes out of her shell when she dons the magical shoes. Soon she is dressing to be noticed and speaking up for herself. Meanwhile, our hero, who has only thought of her as his friend, begins to see her in a whole new light. Adorable book with wonderful characters.
What a fun, sexy read! I didn't read the first one, didn't even realize this was a book two until I was a quarter in and got the tiny feeling it may be, but it can stand alone. I didn't feel as though I was missing anything major.
Basic story: woman love man, man loves woman, but they need a nudge in the right direction, each other's direction. This comes in the form of an old rich woman and a photographer. But, see, they're best friends, and by having sex and stuff, they'll be messing that up. Add the fact they both work for the same company and are vying for the same job, a VP job...eek. Oh, and I mention his brother is her ex? LOTS of trouble ahead.
LOVE the heroines in this. Sassy, smart-assy, sexy, and their confidence is just hot. Also appreciate the humor.
"Who the hell was she kidding? His mouth should have come with a warning label. Warning: Sid effects include scorched lips, flushed skin, an inability to stop picturing your best friend naked, along with sleepless nights. Please see your battery operated boyfriend if any of these symptoms occur."
The big question is will Beckett realize he is good enough for Ricca? Will Ricca allow herself to step outside her little box and love someone a little unsafe? Meanwhile, the company they are not only vying for the same job, but someone is trying to kill someone on the set of their fantasies. (They work for a company that makes people's fantasies come to life.)
The second story of of this series gives us insight on Beckett and Ricca's story which is just as intriguing as Jaya and Alec's. However, this may end up being my favorite couple of the series because Ricca & Beckett are very good friends that realize that they are meant to be more than just friends. Again, as with all of Nana Malone books the storyline and Character Chemistry is on point.
I had lots of notes in my brain about how this book was basically the same book as the first one. Jaya was an event planner; Ricca and Beckett are both event planners, too. Alec was a semi-dilettante rich guy who was semi-obsessed by rally car racing; Beckett is far less rich, apparently, but still gets to actually drive rally cars in the story, twice by the point I gave up. Why am I reading about the same characters with only slightly different personalities?
The plot is definitely different, I'll give it that. The first book was a fling-turned-real, whereas this is best-friends-to-lovers. Fair enough.
And the "mystery" subplot at their job is new, too, but badly executed. The culprit is so obvious I don't even need to read the rest to know I'm right and the leads suspected the wrong character.
I could say more about that, but it's not the reason I dropped the story when I did. Let me give you a quote:
"I'm almost done. You might as well come in and not waste your workout time. We're headed to "Morocco landmark" at nine, and we'll want to make sure we confirm the rest of the day."
This book isn't finished. The author left in a "fix me later" note from the drafting cycle. I said about the first book that it needed much better editing, and here's the eventual culmination of it--a missed research tag that never got resolved. The work up until that point had the same sloppy, needs-editing quality as the first one, but this moment pushed it over the edge for me, it's simply unprofessional to publish something that clearly isn't finished.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but this one left a lot to be desired. The story was just extremely boring. The Fantasies that Ricca and Beckett put together were the real star of the book, and even those were just not that interesting. There was very little mention of the stilettos which really should have been a focal point like they were in the first book. This book should have probably just been titled Fantasies Inc. The info about Serena was pretty obvious after the 2nd incident, and very anticlimactic when finally revealed in the last pages of the book. The only bright spot in the book for me were the sex scenes with Beckett and Ricca. They were very sexual and erotic. The storyline and everything else in the book was just sub par. This doesn't even seem like the same writer as Sexy in Stilettos.
Sexy In Stilettos Sultry In Stilettos Sassy In Stilettos By Nana Malone Narrated by Traci Odom
I read all three back to back and was rewarded with a fun, sexy, sultry and sassy good time. The friends each have their own book starting with Jaya who meets Alec who is best friends with Caleb who fancies Micha and rounding out the trio is Ricca and Beckett who fancy each other. I enjoyed the friendships, great to see the supportiveness among these six characters.
Sassy In Stilettos (Micha and Caleb) is my favorite even though it was book three. It was the most relatable to me and Caleb was just plain old sexy.
Sexy In Stilettos was book one and even though I liked Jaya, if I was her friend there were several times I’d have pinched her....her family .... I’ve no words for them....Alec was a God send to say the least.
Sultry In Stilettos was just a sweet story and I rooted for Ricca and Beckett to communicate and get it on!
All three books had a criminal element in them which enhanced an otherwise fairytale love story.
Traci Odom’s narration was great. She added layers to the characters, and there were a lot of them, yet she managed to give them individuality and I was never confused as to which character was speaking. Well done Nana and Traci. I will dive into the rest of the Stilettos series.
I was so excited to read this that when I got my hands on it I wanted to start with the first book and then its second part of it in the stilettos series. Something about delayed gratification and all. But when I finally read this it became very disappointing by 40% of it. As I went through it, it became all the more disappointing read. I understand when the characters are shown flawed with many things but when the important things like best friendships and romance is shredded with lack of character instead of strength and are totally ruined, I don't like it a bit. And yet the author try to justify their relation with such action . This story was such a mess and not an interesting plot at all. I had my suspicion in the first book and its hero which solidified in the second book i.e. stilettos#2. Such a waste of time but I had my hopes high because I have read some previous books by this author and found them good. But this one wasn't good at all and to think I was anticipating it to be an exciting read. Delayed disappointment but disappointment nonetheless.
This is another interestingly funny story from Nana Malone. Ricca Munroe is a shy Fantasy Event Planner. Beckett Mills has never been in love. He feels like entanglements are a recipe for disaster. Ricca and Beckett are Best friends who met in college. They are both vying for the same job and are put on the same project by their Boss. This is an interesting and amazing romantic Rom-com. I laughed and I was upset for both of them. The story starts out with Ricca's boyfriend dumping her in the middle of Westhorpe Gala and as only a best friend can Beckett is there to help pick up the pieces of what her jerk of an ex-boyfriend did. It is really an interesting and funny and different type of romantic comedy that leads to a relationship. I would highly recommend this book 📚📖 and I can't wait to read the next book 📚📖 in this series. This was a good read.
This time, Ricca is in trouble. Her company plans “fantasies” for clients and a big one has been brought to her firm. Her and her friend Beckett are both up for a large promotion, based on whoever does the best with their half of the fantasy.
I had a few issues with this book. Fantasies – I understand why the author used this word but it made me think of sexual fantasies, not the kind the author meant. The company plans proposals, weddings, sweet 16’s, that type of thing.
Section Breaks – I found the section breaks weren’t always clear. Maybe I missed them somehow or it could just be odd formatting on my kindle (I didn’t remove marks for this)
Shoes – With the shoes being a plot point, the person wearing them getting strength and confidence, the shoes seemed to be passed on later in the book than I thought they should have been.
Ugh... this book. I wanted to like if far more than I did. I just couldn't care about a bunch of stuff going on. Ricca was kind of annoying with her sensitivity and blatant obtuseness regarding what her boss was telling her in reference to her attire. Beckett was fine but I feel like the book could have discussed better things than they did. I liked Ricca and Beckett getting together but there really wasn't a lot going on. There was no real strife either. As others stated the "mystery" really wasn't a mystery at all and an unnecessary addition. And can I just say that it was bugging the crap out of me that Beckett dislocates his shoulder, yet days and weeks later it's all good for him to lift Ricca and do all kinds of things people with dislocated shoulders wouldn't do SO soon after the incident. Arrghhh...
Being best friends can be a positive thing as well as a negative thing as demonstrated in this book. Feeling were being bottled up so much I was wondering when they would finally just erupt and sprew on everything around them. I will say this some of those erotic scenes probably scorched my eardrums but I enjoyed every moment they competed against each other and those crazy little accidents that happened along the way. What I didn't appreciate was missy trying to bargaining with him say that if he stayed quite that he would get the promotion. I was livid on all sorts of levels.
This was a cute and fun read. But for being best friends for so many years, one would think that Ricca and Beckett could talk to each other and be honest. That was the biggest turn off of the book. The story was nice and all, but it dragged on because BFFs couldn’t tell each other the truth. I also listened to the audiobook. Don’t waste your time, unless you’re a huge fan of The Chipmunks. Ricca’s voice was enough to make you want to put an ice pick through your ear. Horrible!
While I enjoyed the story and characters, I had been interested in this book because the description in Amazon is that the author is interested in exploring interracial relationships. Yet, I found very little of that here. Aside from the minimal physical descriptions and a scene where she is preparing Trinidadian (?) comfort food for him (which he loves) after he is injured, there is no mention of it. Complete acceptance on both sides, no discussion (aside from the one food scene) of cultural differences, not even mention of language, etc. Kind of disappointing, to be honest.
A rollercoaster ride: sometimes soft and gentle; other times harsh and brutal: almost a romantic thriller. Miscommunication is rampant between Beckett and Ricca. A mean girl colleague, Angel, and their boss, Serena, play significant roles in the main characters' relationship. The story has a satisfying end, but it's not a HEA. The epilogue is not directly related to the story but is a preview of Micha's, Ricca's friend, story.
Entertaining. Great world building. Haunting. Romantic. Scary. Steamy. Tear-jerker. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.
Ricca works at a fantasy event planning business and keeps dating Mr Wrongs. Best friend Beckett also works there.
After being dumped at a high profile event, Ricca is trying to hold her head high. A fashion photographer pushes her and Beckett together to get an amazing shot for her article.
Needless to say sparks start flying between them and they both try to remain in the friends only category. They realize that isn't possible so they move to friends with benefits.
During a series of "accidents" that happen during one of their events, they realize they actually love each other
This one was better than the first. The author needed to better outline timelines in both books because I know things happened over a course of time. The first it the series was over a longer duration. Longtime lobes Beckett and Ricca had both loved each other for a long time and had been friends for years. Funny how they were oblivious to the others actual deep feelings for the other. Liked the story. Looking forward to the next in the series.
Sometimes it takes a little outward makeover to let your self confidence shine to others. I liked that she had supportive friends. I really don’t care for all the designer name dropping. Sadly, I think her representation of mean girls/guys is still all too correct. One glaring error, in my opinion, was how Ricca missed the blatant indication of who the bad person was. I was all “What?!?! How could you miss that?!?” Otherwise it was a good read.
I like of the books that I've read from Nana Malone and she did not disappoint in Sultry in Stilettos! I kinda saw myself in Ricca you know, the one that doesn't get noticed. Was glad to see her go for her job and man (not me lol)! I like there was a little mystery in it as well, a little bonus!
Rica and Beckett are on their own way your ideal power couple. Fierce and careen center and their love story stems from friendship, in my opinion the best way to start any relationship. The author will take you in the most sensual and fun journey to the cusp of this wonderful love story
I was really hoping for a better ending for Ricca a d Beckett, a huge grand gesture since there was such a back and forth with these two. To be honest, the ending felt kind of rushed and thrown together, I always expect better from this author. So that's why I gave it a 4 out of 5
This is a nice and steamy rom-com. I was a bit surprised by the ending, but I liked it. This is second in the series about the stilettos and I enjoyed reading it, I think you will enjoy this book too. There is a nice HEA at the end that I liked and I am sure that you will feel the same.
This is a story line with very strong willed characters in Ricca and Beckett. Even the supporting characters Micha, Jaya, Carter, Serena are lively in the plot of the story. This is an all around romantic comedy, its relatable. Its wonderful how a friendship can bring you the love of you life.
It was an entertaining quick read. I like the characters. I think it ended a bit abrupt. They are probably going to fill us in a bit on their story with the next book but I still would've liked a bit of an epilogue.
I really enjoyed reading Ricca and Beckett's story it was great. I remembered when I first read the first one in this series. It was so nice to catch up. It was nice to see what's been going on with everyone else too!
A steamy romance novels with explicit language not for a young girl to read but to those of you who likes steamy romance this is the book abt mix feelings and mix communications which works itself out
