Maybe 3 1/2. It had two difficulties: 1) even for this "Christian" series, it was a little preachy; and, 2) for a person with a black belt in martial arts, the heroine was remarkably unable.

I give this book a shaky 2 stars (rounding up). Warning SPOILERS and RANTING!
I have many an issue with the storyline of this novel. First, the main gal is a woman named Mallory who is an interior designer for a major company with a black belt in Taekwondo. Automatically, having an interior designer for a friend and another friend who has the same black belt, I’m thinking super smart lady with the ability to kick some serious butt.
It starts off well enough, with her being smart enough to wake up, decide someone is in her cabin without stupidly walking out and doing the Horror Movie “Hello, is anyone there?” auto-death move. She chooses flight because she knows flight is safer then fight and beelines out the window and heads for the nearest highway. She also smart enough to sleep fully dressed in dark clothes with a hood in case of such an emergency taking place. So I was thinking “YAY, smart person, FINALLY!!!”
Nope. All downhill from there.
Next, the main man: kind, overly caring, and smart...until he contradicts himself and becomes stupid. For example:
“Stay in the car, I don’t want the desk clerk to be able to identify you”
Okay, smart, good thinking! 1.5 pages later…
“Hey want to join me for lunch in the diner?”
A whhhaaaaa???
I take it back! You are even bigger a moron than I would have thought you were had this sentence popped out of your mouth first!!! Like flicking a switch from smart to stupid… if you’re smart first, common sense says for the duration of the same situation or similar situations occurring, you will continue to be smart.
Next, turns out what was supposed to be a kick ass main character gal is claustrophobic…with no explanation as to why,and gets queasy at the sight of blood. Okay…it could work…I guess? Only she starts to panic in a corn field! Little weird when you can just push the corn over until you have a nice big comfy space to hang out with open sky over head…no? Plus in my experience playing in corn fields as a kid, they aren’t that terribly dense and have nice long rows that can go on forever.
AND THEN, there’s the ‘oh no you want me to jump ON a train' moment. Daunting, yes. ‘You want me to come over a car and let go of my death grip even though I know you got me’ daunting, uh no. ‘You want me to jump off this moving beast before it even slows?’ Yes, but totally do-able.
Female protagonist respect level falling rapidly!
This girl is a black belt and you’re telling me she hasn’t perfected the basic tuck and roll maneuver? What kind of martial arts do they teach down there???? And how on earth would someone with that kind of training just let ‘the man’ do everything…GUH!!! Dude has a massive hole in his chest! Oh look she beat up and over weight pig of a man…but not taekwondo style, but rather self-defense style. Honestly, I don’t think of her as a black belt. And what’s with the going faint when she finds out her ex-boy-toy really is a murdering sleazy bag she already knows him to be? Hanging off cop boy like it’s just a huge shock…she barely knew the guy! They dated for a month!!!
Not to mention how she has low self-esteem…let’s recap what we learned about her so far. Claims to have a black belt (Bought it online?) but is completely useless so far, wants to puke and pass out at the sight of blood, magically comes back to faith, claustrophobic, one giant chicken, is a black belt that doesn’t know who to tuck and roll, has boyfriend issues, is dumb as a post when it comes to keeping other people safe, replays compliments in her head like she’s never ever received one before and low self-esteem… oooookkkkkaaaaayyyy. How is she still living?
Oh and that chest wound…has this guy never heard of butterfly bandages or even in a pinch…crazy glue? Honestly.
Four days before the kissing began, or three? Hmmm… these romances always go at top speed. I would love one of them to be more realistic and have the epilogue set two or three years later and THEN have them get married, not three months or two or whatever.
Traumatized….really? You use the word traumatized to describe a person’s reaction to the death or someone she barely knew? "“I don’t want Kate anywhere near them"…Jonah knew Mallory was traumatized by Abby’s murder and put a reassuring hand on her arm.” Not like she witnessed it, just read about it in the newspaper after knowing her for ten minutes the night before.
Traumatized : to cause somebody to experience severe emotional shock or distress, often resulting in long-lasting psychological damage.
To cause physical injury to somebody or something.
Doesn’t seem to fit eh?
Let's skip ahead a little to the end...Mallory gets herself caught and stabbed and can't pick up a small piece of crate to use as a bat???? I'm sorry, but again black belt...you could disarm the bloody guy if you wanted to if you're a proper black belt!!! She should ALSO be in half decent shape, not subpar to a normal human being. Oh and the dude saves her again! GGGGUUUUHHHHH!
While I in general enjoyed the plotline, the preaching, magical conversions, the useless excuse for a woman who should be competent, and overall inconsistencies and disappointments with the characters I cannot say I would ever tell anyone to read this book...probably tell them not to bother and try certain other Christian fiction/romance writers.

i love this book i also have the regular book and i just got very interested and she was trying to be found and how this man helped her took her to a motel to live in but the it gets burnt up omg so much problems but not have yet read the rest i think she trys to find her twin and they just jump off a train it just amazed

Religion, romance, suspense and drama don’t seem like they mesh well with each other but in book two Laura Scott manages to bring all those together and then some.
Captivating is the only true way to describe the pages of this unique story

I loved it. As much as I loved the books that follow. I read the last one first this one before the first one. I read them backwards it knowing there was , while series.. Well worth reading.

A great finish to these books about twin sister Alyssa and Mallory. I enjoyed both stories and loved the message of Gods love and faithfulness to ALL! Great job Laura Scott!

Mallory's story
First we had Alyssa's story, now it is Mallory and Jonah's story. The story of the crazy twin and her run from her ex-boyfriend. Plus it wraps up some of the mystery from the previous tale. Really interesting.

I liked book two way better than book one, which is unusual for me. I was more surprised with the twists and turns of book two, whereas book one was pretty easily predicted. I rated book two four stars because of a couple of basic weaknesses (3 1/2 stars would be more accurate). The most glaring weakness was how helpless Mallory was considering she was supposed to be a black belt in martial arts. Having been in martial arts myself, I know the training it takes to become a black belt. After so many years, the training just kicks in almost without conscious thought. No way would Mallory be helpless. Another weakness, I thought, was Logan, the FBI agent. I liked the idea of the FBI becoming involved, but I don't see that happening "off-grid," as the author puts it. No way would Logan be able to act on his own; if he was months on an assignment undercover, he would never chance blowing his cover. Another thing: the other FBI guy working in Salvatore's resteraunt - why was he undercover working the Salvatore angle, but reporting to Caruso? My imagination can connect those dots, but the author never does. One more weakness: if Mallory STOPPED being religious at age 17 because of what happened to her at that time, that would mean she was raised a Christian and therefore already knew about the things written in the Bible - especially forgiveness. Yet it appears she knew nothing. That didn't mesh for me. I think 3 1/2 to 4 stars is generous, considering the points I've raised, but I do like the author's writing style and the surprises she throws in. Overall, I enjoyed the read.

I'm a fan of Laura Scott's books, so after reading IDENTITY CRISIS I was eager to read its sequel, TWIN PERIL.
The second book in the series starts with Mallory being on the run from hit men. Jonah Stewart, a handsome detective with Milwaukee Police Deparment, finds her just in the nick of time to save her life. Thus starts their journey to solve the crime while also escaping dangerous traps.
While Alyssa and Mallory Roth are identical twins, their personalities are completely different. It's no surprise that Alyssa has faith, but Mallory is a non-believer. Mallory blames herself for the mistake in the past that shaped her attitude to men and to her own identity. It takes an amazing man like Jonah not only to save her from criminals but first and foremost to help her find faith. Mallory's growth as a person is clear throughout the book as she learns to forgive herself and those who harmed her and to realize that she is more than worthy of Jonah's love. In his turn, Jonah also has to come to terms with his own choice to save a kid that had cost his partner his life.
TWIN PERIL is a beautifully written Love Inspired Suspense. It is a fast-paced story, and I like the theme of acceptance and self-forgiveness.

This book is a sequel to: "Identity Crisis." I highly suggest reading it before tackling this book.

The action he and Mallory face will not help him heal at all. The author wrote a book that kept me on my toes the entire time wondering how in the world they were ever going to be safe again! I liked Jonah from the first book and knew I'd love him having his own story.

I just completed this book. It caught my interest at the very beginning. It was fast-paced at the beginning and at the end. My main complaint was that it became very slow and dragged in the middle. This author can be hit or miss with me. Sometimes she can tell a really good story without becoming preachy. She lost a 4 stars rating because she became too preachy in the middle which caused the story to drag.

Laura Scott tells a fine suspense story. Was looking forward to this story after reading about Mallory in the previous story where her sister took on her identity. And I have a feeling there might be another story coming in the form of Logan and Kate?
This was a page turner. Enjoyed every bit of it.

A little too "Christian" for my taste. I thought the first book was better in how it handled the religion and belief part; but I think it also handled the heroine's "coming around" very well. Might have been able to go into her not feeling good about herself in a little more detail with a little more drama and story.

not awful but the author was so devoted to her religious message that she basically beat the readers over the head with it. towards the end of the book the story itself seemed to take secondary prevalence to this message to the point where it became less of a book and more of a sermon...if I wanted a sermon I can read the bible any time I want. Bottom line...don't spend money on this book...

So, this was the sequel to identity crisis. Couldn't wait to get it and then couldn't put it down. Laura Scott writes a fast paced action book. My one regret is it is so fast paced there is not room to deeply develop character or relationships. I have to admit I loved the ending but start looking for a follow up with Logan and Kate. Quite a teaser...

Another Christian romantic suspense novel with believeable characters. Mallory has run away after being chased by a killer and she knows that her twin is also in danger because he may think that Mallory has told Alyssa what she heard. Without the help of a hurt police officer, Mallory may not live to see her sister again.

I appreciate that Jonah sees his role in Mallory's life as bringing her to Christ, and then their relationship progresses from there. It makes the twins distinct individuals and creates a fun two-book ending.

Running from a hit man because of something she overheard is getting old. Mallory accepts help from detective Stewart but they are mostly on their own. Who can they trust.
