Lo! A mad experience resumes!

Things have changed for Edgar and Ellen. With Augustus Nod back from the dead and the Knightleighs in disgrace, the good citizens of Nod's Limbs don't merely tolerate pranking, they embrace it. They've even made the troublesome twins local heroes. Great, right?

Well, maybe not. Edgar and Ellen could be losing their edge just when they need it most. The outcome of the first-ever Nod's Limbs Knightleigh-less mayoral election is in their hands...and perhaps of slightly greater importance, the future of the planet. Humanity's safety rests in the secret of the balm, which may have just fallen into the wrong hands. Is it the twins' old nemesis, The Mason? Or the mysterious Man in the Paper Bag Mask? Or someone even more frightening?

This book is basically set up for the rest of the Nodyssey series, but it's still a solid Edgar & Ellen book. I don't think I've really mentioned this before, but the illustrations within each book are great and the way some of them are laid out are eye-catching. There are a few illustrations in the early books of the series which are too dark to see what's going on, but they right themselves.

“‘Between Eugenia Smithy trying to sabotage Blake Glide, and Blake Glide trying to sabotage Eugenia Smithy, and Nod trying to sabotage himself, this has got to be the dirtiest election on record,’ said Ellen.

‘And in our own little Nod’s Limbs, no less,’ said Edgar. ‘And we’re not even among the candidates! The times—how they change.’”

Just the quick and silly read I was looking for. This “Nodyssey” series is a spinoff, but I didn’t have any issues jumping in without reading the original Edgar & Ellen series.

I love this type of nonsensical universe + whimsical tone (Kate McKinnon’s Millicent Quibb book is a great example and India Holton’s Dangerous Damsels series is a fabulous adult version).

This book is very awesome and interesting! In the beginning of the book, Edgar and Ellen becomes the best pranksters in the town called Nod's Limbs and everyone in the town are celebrating them. They also think that their jokes are funny and entertaining. After the big celebration, things start to get worse. A lot of things start to collapse and a lot of accidents are occurring, which injured many people in the town. Eugenia, a candidate in Nod's Limbs, wants to be the mayor, and thinks that it's Edgar and Ellen that did all of the disaster. Another thing that happened is that some of the Nod's journals and letters are robbed by someone. The Nod's journals and letters are important because they have the secrets of how to stay alive for a long period of time, or in other words, the balm's secrets. Edgar and Ellen decides to investigate this serious case to see who did this horrible robbery. They are wondering that the robber might be Stephanie, Eugenia, or Blake. Edgar and Ellen knows that either Eugenia or Black is not the robber or stealer of the Nod's letters and journals, because they want to be mayor and not want to know the balm's secrets. Another time, there is going to be an election for who is going to be the new mayor of Nod's Limbs because the old mayor, Augustus Nod, is too old, and it got ruined by many ferocious rats. Everyone hates Edgar and Ellen after that situation happened because in their minds, they think it was them that did this. Then, there is another robbery of the Nod's journals and letters and Edgar and Ellen finally finds out who is the robber and the person that creates all of the disaster. The robber is Stephanie and at first, they catch her, but then she escapes from them and now, they needs to get her back. Stephanie creates all this problem because her family gets kicked out from Nod's Limbs and she wants to take back revenge for what Edgar and Ellen did to her family. This book fits in fantasy fiction section because of its unrealistic world and situations. I like this book because there are many actions and dramatic scenes. I also like this book because there are many parts that gets you to infer and do some deep thinking. I can connect to this book to an enemy that I used to have in elementary school when I was a little kid in fourth grade. My enemy was just like Stephanie in this book, "Hot Air." He feels angry at me for having better grades than him and whenever I don't have time to help him, he just gets more angry, so most of the time, he would be thinking plans to take back his revenge. For example, he would take my homework and ruined it by crumpling it. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes to read Edgar and Ellen books and likes real fantasy and also likes to know how to prank.
