大正から昭和初期にかけて、無頼派文学の代表的な作家として活躍した、織田作之助の短篇小説。初出は「新生日本」［1946（昭和21）年］。「聴雨・螢 織田作之助短篇集」［筑摩書房、2000（平成12）年］に収録。スタンダールの充実した生活に比べて、煙草に浸って軽佻や倦怠の中で彷徨っている自分の平凡な人生について書いている。
