Good things don’t last forever. For Cherish Jackson, she quickly realizes how true this statement is when her stepfather dies. It is then that her life takes a turn for the worse. Her mother, devastated by their tragic loss, begins to neglect her children. Soon after, she turns to drugs and another man for solace. This leaves Cherish in charge of her three younger sisters, one of which is pregnant. It becomes especially hard when they stop receiving food stamps and the bills are piling up. Subsequently there is the abuse that she suffers from the hands of her mother. Cherish feels like the weight of the world is on her shoulders until a dope boy named Dijon steps up to the plate and becomes her savior.
Things are looking up until Dijon goes missing and Cherish becomes victim to his escalating beef in the streets. Her mother’s drug habit is quickly skyrocketing out of control creating another tragedy that no one sees coming. After a local drug dealer is murdered, it threatens to disrupt Cherish’s life in ways she never expected. Will Cherish and her sisters somehow find a way to escape the drama or will they end up as innocent casualties to the cruel world?
This book really broke my heart💔 this was an amazing read!! Cherish had a pretty decent life until her stepfather passed away and suddenly her whole world was turn upside down. Between Asia being fast, having to take care of her little twin sister, a pervert living in the house, a dopefiend mama who hasn’t grieve properly. Despite all of that bs I was really hoping for a happy ending with Cherish and Dijon but that’s what makes this book even more raw because a happy ending isn’t always the out come. 🥺
I loved this book!!! While it was definitely a "hood" book it was so different from the books that I have been reading lately. I didnt have to read endless pages about name brand clothes, flashy cars, money and shoot outs and I was so invested in Cherish and her family. There was so much drama and character history that it was easy to get deep into the story line to the point that I was reading my kindle while I was walking down the street. I just wish the ending was different but overall it was one of the best books that I've read.
This was a really good read.Although there were some editing issues,it didn't take away from the great storyline. From the first page the book had me drawn in until the last. The way the story ended left me wanting more,I didn't want it to end that way,but it was still a 5 star banger.I would defintely recommend this book, bcuz it is sure to take you on an emotional ride
Heard good things about this book, so I decided to pick it up from a friend. It was a change of pace and a welcomed read from my usual books. I enjoyed the way that the characters weren't perfect and were realistically flawed. Can't wait to see how much this author evolves.. Enjoy
This book had the ability to tap into every emotion possible. It was great. There were some grammatical errors but not enough to take away from the story. I would definitely recommend this book and I look forward to reading more from this author.
A good read! I give it a 4.5 for the errors but otherwise a good story overall. I will definitely be reading more by this author. This book is recommended.
This is the first time reading a book by this author and all I can say is WOW. This author came out the box with a banging book. I cant wait to read more from this author.
