I wasn't convinced by this book and found some of it hard going. George Marshall comes across, to be honest, as a bit of a gobshoit. I found myself letting out long sighs and thinking "Get to the point mate" as he rambles along with his homespun philosophising on the rat race. I liked some of his ideas and views, such as the difference between setting internal and external goals, but it takes a long time before you get to what George recommends as the way out of salary slavery. I won't reveal it here but it probably won't surprise you once you understand what it is. And, by the way, it still sounds like hard bloody work to me, even if you can do it from the comfort of your beachside Spanish apartment! George makes out that his money making ideas take care of themselves once they're set up, which I find hard to believe. Yes, it's great not having to work for The Man until you find out you're then working for Every Man, or in other words, your customers. (Seriously, business would be so good if you just didn't have to deal with customers.) Anyone who's ever bought or sold more than a dozen items on ebay will know that buying and selling isn't a perfect world.

Really interesting book that takes an unusual and very British approach to learning how to make an alternative income. The first part of the book looks at wage slavery and has some interesting philosophy on how you'll never be rich unless you take control of your own destiny - stuff I've read before, but it was very convincing. The author runs several money-making sites and divulges several methods of earning money online, from Google Adwords and selling domain names to affiliate marketing. Normally these kind of books bore me to tears but this one kept my interest because it's written in a very enjoyable conversational style.

In fact, I was actually so inspired by this book that I have set up a couple of moneymaking sites myself .. thy're both work in progress and haven't started earning me anything yet, but if I don't try I won't know!

A book about escaping 'wage slavery' - earning a set amount of money per hour - and generating income in different sorts of ways. The basic premise wasn't new to me - this is quite a popular idea nowadays and I've heard various stuff about it. I was just curious to read a book that actually sets out advice on how to go about it. And this book does - it has a lot of practical tips.
