ahhhhh... Janine - florist; mistakenly gave her heart and money to shister John Prentiss - and he ran off 3 days before they were to be married... Max - rich, English businessman - married the right woman from the right family that his family pushed on him - and when he found he in bed with someone else, he divorced - but she wants him back...
both Janine and Max are at the resort Fantasies - Janine, with two other friends who'd had it rough, and Max because he was friends with the Fantasy owner... thier eyes meet - they share a drink - they share a dance - they share their bodies... hmmmm
exquisite sex - but they go their own way otherwise... until his ex-wife makes plans to be at the resort... he offers Janine (whom he found out had been rooked by her ex) a lot of money to pose as his wife, so scare off his exwife...
she reluctantly accepts... some rocky moments over turst - or lack of - she is pregnant - she loves him - he wants to marry her as they are compatible - she says no, she deserves love... after a few days, he realizes how much he needs her, how stupid he is (yeah, every woman's fantasy - I man who can see he is wrong)... and he tracks her down with a serious proposal... ahhhh

This book warred with me because it was between a 3.5 and a 4. I liked it I mean hey we all could dream, right? How many times can we say we wished we had a rich man offer us some money? I mean hell, he would have had me at $100,000. At least my student loan folks would have been happy...lol but I digress it was short and sweet and really I read it on day. So, either I'm getting quicker on my reading or it was a little entertaining. I think it was a mixture of both.
Did not like it, I didn't feel the connection between hero and heroine after the first chapter. I didn't understand at all heros reasoning for believing a known con artist over heroine and then accusing her of lying about pregnancy because of con artist. Then he only believed her after finding test, so ridiculous. Also the ex-wife was annoying to the extreme. P.
All his life Max thought people only want his money and his first wife was no eception. So when he met Janine, he accepted her proposition of an anonymous affair until he found out his ex wife was coming to the Fantasy island trying to get him back. The perfect solution was paid Janine so she pretended to be his new wife. The only problem was that Janine accepted. She was desperate. Her former fiance not only had canceled the wedding but took all her money to. She spent every cent in this travel with her friends because they need it. But when she came back the problems would be expecting her... Max's proposition seemed the answer to all her prayers but what will happens when the deal ended if she fall in love with him? or her ex appeared in the island? or she got pregnant?
I've read better, I felt that there was more to the story, but these books are never long. It reminded me of a weak Pretty Woman type of story. Not my favorite brain candy.
Horrible. The main character is trying to pretend that she's a strong, respectable woman but she just rolls over and lets the guy who treated her horribly get away with everything. In real life, he would have to prove he was worthy after what he did to her--instead, he just says I love you and she uproots her whole life for a man who is untrustworthy and just unworthy in general. Way to make all women seem like weak, gold-diggers who will go along with any guy and put up with anything they would do to them as long as he's rich.
