Keep Me Closer

Rate this book
Five years after the end of his marriage and his career as a detective, Alex Hudson wears a permanent suit of armor to keep the world at bay. Now a PI in South Florida, he believes that he’s better off free of romantic complications—even if a certain beautiful redhead makes him sweat with little more than a look. But he’s determined to steer clear of women and the trouble they bring. Until trouble comes uninvited...

Renowned therapist Brit Cramer has seen her fair share of violence and knows how to handle it. But when a former patient targets Brit as his feminine “ideal,” she finds help in the last place she ever expected—the tall, dark, outrageously sexy Alex Hudson, who saves her from a violent attack. Brit’s been powerfully attracted to Alex from the moment they first met several years ago, but she knew better than to do more than enjoy the view…

The initial uncertainty they both feel shatters in the face of a searing, absolute desire, but their time is running out as they find themselves caught in the sights of a madman who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Before they know it, they’re fighting not only for their lives, but for the possibility that they may have both found exactly what they’ve always wanted and needed...in each other.

I like to do these ‘Top Ten Reasons to Read’ posts when I read an erotic book that I would recommend. Sometimes I go months without finding a good book for a post like this, but this month I’ve read two! Today I’m talking about Keep Me Closer by Rhyannon Byrd. This is the first I’ve read by her and I was shocked at how dirty this hero is. He is also possessive, controlling (sometimes too controlling), and a big asshole. Ginorumous asshole. Just putting that out there. But in a guilty pleasure kind of way, he worked for me. The author just goes for it – and I liked that. She holds nothing back. Oh – there is a heroine too! Her name is Brit and she is a therapist who is being stalked by a very mentally ill client. Alex is a PI who is forced to keep an eye on her (Brit is BFF with Alex’s brother’s wife) . These two hate each other at first but then they kiss and realize it’s more fun to get into each other’s pants than hate each other. I read this book in one sitting and was pretty entertained. One more thing to note, the kindle price is $7.99 which is a bummer, because I think that is pretty pricey. But I still want to rec it and talk about. So here we go.

Please note the quotes below are quite explicit - which is the only reason I'm putting under a spoiler tag :)

Fun book you guys.

Alex is hot!!!

What can I say? Cranky bad boy alphas are my jam! I love Alex and how he keeps fighting with himself to keep Brit at arms length, but with a psychotic patient out to hurt Brit, Alex is called in to keep her safe. The chemistry and sex between these two was amazing!

I'm hoping the author finally gets around to writing about Mike, the youngest Hudson brother, and a happy-go-lucky womanizing DEA agent to boot.

*pets the pretty pretty book* I've so been missing out on some damn fine stories by not reading Byrd sooner. Keep Me Closer was oh so good and chock full of suspense, deliriously yummy sex, one shamelessly alpha hero and a heroine that so wasn't afraid to give him a run for his money as they head off against a crazed stalker and an all consuming attraction. *swoons* I mean. Seriously!

It's not too often I really love both the hero and heroine in equal measures but Alex and Brit were definitely one of the rare couples. I loved these two. Them on the other hand...they've pretty much hated each other for years. Kinda. Sorta. Or at least they're trying to hate each other and thank the book Fates it leads to all kinds of explosive tension and good times as the two wind up spending a lot of time together while her stalker is tracked down.

Brit was a pretty great heroine. She's smart, doesn't do anything too questionable safety wise, isn't over the top flaily emotional and actually thinks things through and can see more in Alex than pretty much anyone else. She was just a solid one that really cared about people and her career as a therapist.

And then there's Alex who is hella blunt. This is one hero who says and does just what he's thinking. He's not all smooth and suave and is just...him in all his alpha male glory (without being an asshole hallefuckingluja)! He's had his trust and pride broken by his ex wife and the man is way slow to trust, gets himself all good and freaked out and then has a nice little come to Jesus moment and totally had me falling for him. He's a good guy who just doesn't realize he's a good one and a keeper and gah that just about did me in. He's passionate and that comes out in everything he does from protecting Brit to giving her some seriously good lovin.
Her breath caught as he pushed the first inch inside, and though he felt like he was burning with fever, she was even hotter. And so fucking tight. He started to work his hips in careful back and forth lunges, determined to get inside her sweet little body without hurting her. Each time he pulled back then pushed back in, he gained a bit more of that fist-tight sheath, his mind blown from how snug and wet and fucking soft she felt. But there was still a hell of a long way to go.

When she bit her lip and moaned, "God, Alex," there was a genuine thread of panic in her voice, and he couldn't help but want to soothe her.

"Shh. Just let me in and relax. It'll be okay. Better than okay."

She gave an adorable laugh that was choked. "That's easy for you to say. You're not the one getting crammed full of a massive penis right now."

He lowered his forehead to hers again, his shoulders shaking. "Fuck, Brit, don't do that. Don't make me laugh."

"You don't like laughing?"

"Time and place, Doc. Time and place."

So, yea, these sex scenes. Oh...mygod. So freaking hot (and okay, funny too)! Alex has a lot to work with and damn he knows exactly how to swing that tree trunk of his. The man rocks a head board, pushes limits and is just sexy as hell. There's a lot of lovin' happening in this one including some back door action. All very nicely done and for those who experienced my cum/gravity rant the other day...so played out in this one but not in my ranty way. The two were just great together in and out of the bedroom. The chemistry was zinging everywhere and just fantastically fun to watch.

The suspense was nicely done as well. It was just the right amount of page time/trouble brewing to keep things slightly on edge but not make the romance feel awkward and out of place in the face of all of that danger. It was a nice balance between the two and while you knew from the start what was going on it was still kind of exciting and nerve wracking hanging on waiting to see what would happen next.

All in all...Keep Me Closer was a damn fine read that left me pretty blasted excited to have found a new author to totally reader girl swoon over. Woot! With sexy suspense and awesome characters this one totally worked for me. No question. Byrd's next will be an auto buy for me.

It’s clear from the start that Alex Hudson is going to be one tough hero to crack. He’s an ass to Brit, and that’s putting it nicely. They’ve known each other through Alex’s brothers for awhile and in that time, Alex has never been nice or even pleasant to Brit. He went through a bad divorce, nearly drank himself into an early grave and has a pretty low opinion of women. The problem is, he’s 100% attracted to Brit but he doesn’t want to be so he pushes her away denying everything he feels. But when Brit’s life is in danger and Alex’s brother wants him to watch out for her, Alex finds himself in close proximity to Brit and it’s impossible to ignore the chemistry between them.

Brit is a therapist and after helping one young man through a horrible situation, that same patient has gone mental and turned his unhealthy attentions all on Brit. He’s dangerous and unpredictable and he’s starting to threaten and stalk Brit. Alex stops his first attempt at abducting her and after this incident, Brit starts staying with Alex so she’s hidden until her attacker can be caught. Brit’s been attracted to Alex since she met him, but he’s never so much as given her a kind look let alone word but she’s tired of holding back and not exploring if their attraction might be more than just one sided.

Brit and Alex start to have a sexual relationship, just sex since Alex is still convinced that he’ll never, ever want to love someone again and go through what he’s already been through with a cheating ex-wife. Their sex scenes are so erotic, Alex pushes Brit in many ways. He does have one really dick scene when, as an attempt to get Brit out of his mind, he calls his willing neighbor over and Brit catches said neighbor on her knees, Alex’s pants down…you get the picture. What I really wanted to see was Brit punch him in the face and walk out, instead it turns into Brit locking eyes on Alex, etc etc etc. She ends up being hurt while he ends up realizing what a bad move it was. At this point, it just drove home how much of a jerk Alex was. I honestly didn’t know if I’d ever really warm up to him. As more of his past comes out and he starts to soften up toward Brit, he does become more likeable as he turns into the hero who goes from ass to a nicer guy for his heroine. I’m not sure Alex will ever be a “softy” or even sweet, but another side of him does come out all because of Brit and it made me like them together as a couple and in turn, made me soften toward Alex.

Keep Me Closer is has more steamy and erotic scenes than I’ve read recently, and they’re really well done with the overall pacing of the story. Often times, I find myself bored with the number of sex scenes that get put into erotic romances, but Rhyannon Byrd does a nice job of including the sex but making the story about more than just that. Their relationship was well developed and the story surrounding the threat to Brit was well done as well.

This second book in Byrd’s Dangerous Tides series reads very well as a stand alone and it made me want to pick up book 1 when I was finished. I enjoyed getting to know Brit and Alex and was surprised in the end on how much I ended up liking Alex. He’s an ass at the start, a man with hard edges and no apologies. The changes in him because of Brit and their relationship was a nice ride and I look forward to more in this series.

Keep Me Closer by Rhyannon Byrd is a suspense filled romance with a heat factor that is out of this world. This author knows how to write a sex scene like no other. It is so detailed, so sexy, so unique, you can't help but to keep turning the pages like a mad woman, demanding for the scene to go on and on. Ms. Byrd's Dangerous Tides novels are a definite MUST READ if you are looking for a STEAM FACTOR of 10+++!

❝I want this pussy, Brit. I want to lick it, suck on it, cum on it, spank it, kiss it, tongue it, penetrate it, violate it, worship it, and fuck it.❞

See what I mean?! Oh that's not all, I have another one for ya...

❝you won't be able to take a breath without remembering what it's like to have me buried deep inside you, fucking you raw.❞

Mmm...you know you want more...

❝Because if you get on that bed, I really am going to put every hard, thick inch of my cock up your ass. And then I'm going to fuck it like I own it.❞

Ok...NO MORE FOR YOU! That is just the tip of the iceberg people. I've only read one other book from this author, and I just can't help but keep coming back for more. Keep Me Closer is a story of a man who was majorly screwed over by a past love, and has sworn off relationships. Alex Hudson is a man's man! He is a tough son of a bitch, and he shows it off to anyone and everyone. His heart is surrounded by walls so high and so thick, that no one stands a chance at even cracking them. When his brother asks him to protect the one woman Alex has been trying to steer clear from, his dick tries to maintain its distance while his head stays in the game. But the chemistry between him and Brit is too palpable, too visceral, that keeping his dick at bay, ends up being a bigger challenge than expected.

The more time these two spend together, the closer they become. Both of their walls start to break down. These characters are strong, they are complex, and they are stubborn as hell. They compliment each other so well though, not only in bed, but on an intellectual and emotional level as well. The storyline was great, the suspense was definitely there. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Rhyannon Byrd knows just what an erotic romance reader wants, and she delivers 100% of the time. This was a great, sexy, quick read for me. Keep Me Closer is a standalone, but you should definitely check out Take Me Under, Book 1 in the series, as well as Make Me Yours, Book 1.5 and a great novella in Dangerous Tides Series.

Moss Beach, Florida … the home of hot men and the woman that they protect and fall in love with. First there was Ben Hudson and now there’s Alex … Alpha males and the woman that bring them to their knees.
Alex is one tough cookie. His wife’s infidelity lead him to become an alcoholic and leave the police force … he doesn’t trust woman and he surely will never fall in love again. He’s always been fascinated and attracted to Doc Cramer … he just needs to get her out of his system and move on. Or, so he thinks. When her life is threatened by a former client, he goes into over-protective alpha mode and moves her into his house. How does he keep her out of his mind … how does he keep his hands off of her … how does he control the raging hard-on’s he gets when he’s around her?
Brit Cramer cannot believe the curve balls that life throws at her. Moving to Moss Beach was supposed to be her safe-haven … a place where she can practice and just lead a calm, unexciting life. Alex Hudson has always been an enigma to her. Yes, he was extremely hot. Yes, she could just imagine what it would be like to be in his bed. But, he can’t stand her, is always mean to her, and went so far as to tell her off the last time they were at the same party. Why would he want to protect her and go so far as keep her in his house? She’s a therapist – you would think she would know the answer to those questions. When she finally gets the answers to her questions, fireworks light up the sky and she ends up being one happy, satisfied young woman – in her office, on the table, finally in a bed.
Both are trying desperately to guard their hearts but love has a way of sneaking up on you, punching you in your gut and making your life miserable. That is, until you finally realize why you are so miserable, why you can’t breathe and finally face the facts. Sometimes it takes a kidnapping, sometimes it takes someone just walking away. But, in any case, when they both finally realize what they feel, the HEA is inevitable.
So, when I requested this book, I didn’t realize that I read the first book in the series and absolutely loved Ben and Reese’s story. Alex and Brit’s story grabbed me just as hard as Take Me Under. The book was written with the normal, expected flare of Rhyannan Byrd. With love scenes that sizzle, a little bit of intrigue and a wonderful ending … an Epilogue that just made my smile wider than it had been throughout the book. It was a sensual, erotic tale that had you sitting on the edge of your seat wondering when the next twist was going to be, had you yelling at Alex to just admit his feelings and praying that Brit’s stalker didn’t get to her.

Jam packed with sexual tension, witty banner, two strong characters and a stalker lurking in the background, Keep Me Closer is everything I want in an erotic suspense novel.

When Alex agrees to keep an eye out for family friend and current star of his XXX fantasies, Brit Cramer, he is less than happy about the idea. It's not that he dislikes her, in fact, it's quite the opposite. Brit is sexy, smart and is constantly keeping Alex on his toes with her quick wit and sharp tongue. But Alex refuses to let anyone in after his marriage catastrophically imploded years prior. Things change when a patient of Brit's starts stalking her and Alex is the one in charge of protecting her.

For Brit, Alex is one piece of delicious douchebag. He is foul mouthed, rude and impossible to be around. But that doesn't stop Brit from fantasizing about what it would be like to be with him. He is a wicked temptation that enhances an already stressful situation. As the stalker finds ways to thoroughly creep and terrorize Brit into the arms of Alex, the stakes for these one-time enemies blossoms into a gritty, seductive and tantalizing story full of twists, turns, and plenty of pillow talk.

While this is considered a standalone (each book focusing on a different brother) I would suggest reading Take Me Under beforehand because I would have loved to see how some of the supporting characters in this book started out as the main feature in the first. I found myself heavily invested in the character development, dialogue, connection and sexual temptation of Alex and Brit. This was a fantastic coupling of eroticism and suspense that kept me on my toes and tingling with anticipation. Keep Me Closer is my first novel by Ryannon Bryd but it most certainly won't be my last.

This is a story like no other. You have one very gorgeous, well-hung man that puts all others to shame. You have an absolutely stunning woman with a set of great tits and a beautiful ass. Guess what? These two gorgeous creatures can't stand each other, but that doesn't stop them thinking of getting naked and doing nasty things to each other. He's a PI, and he's been assigned to protect her from a former patient who's a total nutjob. Nutjob knows where she lives. PI has no other choice but to have her stay at his place. This only makes it harder to resist the attraction between them. They give into temptation and screw. They proceed to fuck like rabbits. She tells him "I love you." He tells her he doesn't, that he can't give her what she needs. She leaves hurting but so in love. He realizes what a dick he is and that he does love her. He runs back to her. He saves her from crazy nutjob who's holding her at gunpoint. He tells her "I love you." They fuck again. He can't wipe the permanent smile off his face he's so in love. He pops the question. She says yes. They decide to get married in a few weeks. The end. Wow! What a story. I love how the drama of the crazy guy didn't take over the main theme - the H/h constantly arguing when all they really want to do is get it on, which luckily they do. Isn't it beautiful when gorgeous, stunning people - who have lots of money, and can pleasure each other to the point they have multiple orgasms, each one better than the last - get together and fall in love? I know I was on pins and needles the whole time wondering if they'd ever get it on or admit their love for one another. Not many stories out there like this one I tell you.

Hot damn. What was that I just read? and I mean that sentence in the best way possible.

Now that was one hell of a hot read. Like really hot one. It was such a descriptive and sensual book. Just reading it also was like wow. It wasn't your typical erotic novel but very close to one. The story line wasn't bad either. No unnecessary drama and characters were sweet. I really liked our Doc but can we take a second to look at Alex? God that man is so blunt and vulgar and just so damn hot. This is the first time I'm calling an older character hot cuz whenever someone jump the age of 35, I'm like naaaaah. Yeah I know, it's stupid but still. I'm sure I'll change my mind after I hit 30 but I have few more years for that. Now back to the topic. Hot Alex. I would recommend this book just for him. Damn I never liked a dirty mouth but he made me love it. Also he's not your typical bad boy turn sugary sweet cuz of a girl. He keeps his bad boy or bad man whatever you say, all through out the book. He keeps being an arrogant jerk till the end and I love him for that. He does fall head over heels as per any NA book but still he keeps his asshole ways too.

Despite that I'm not sure I'll actually pick up another book of the series. yes this was wonderful but if I go to a bookshop and I have no other good book to pick, then I might pick this. Does that even make sense? Still i would say this book was amazing but not good enough to make a permanent "tattoo" in my brain.

First reviewed at Red Hot Books here: http://redhotbooks.com/2014/07/review...

Break out the fan before reading this hot hot book by Rhyannon Byrd! Keep Me Closer is the third book in Byrd’s Dangerous Tides series and is probably one of the sexiest books I’ve read this year. Alex Hudson, the brother of Ben Hudson, the sheriff from the first book in the series and therapist Brit Cramer were a totally loveable couple who had chemistry off the charts. The book has plenty of suspense, lots of emotional baggage to work through and an alpha male who has met his match.

In his former life, Alex Hudson was a married Orlando police detective. After catching his wife in bed with one of his fellow officers (one of many), he self destructs, losing his job and drowning himself in a bottle. After cleaning himself up and getting sober he relocates to Moss Beach where he has become a private investigator. Alex has sworn off love and keeps his relationships strictly physical, never having trouble finding a willing partner.

Brit Cramer is a therapist and a close friend of Alex’s brother and his wife, who has moved to Moss Beach after an unpleasant break-up. She is an intelligent, beautiful woman who, despite being insanely attracted to Alex, holds a grudge for the way he treated Ben’s wife when they first met. Brit has found herself the target of a deeply disturbed former patient who has become obsessed with her. When Ben asks Alex to keep an eye on her while he’s away with his wife, Alex is convinced it is a ploy to throw him and the doctor together. He agrees to watch out for her but he doesn’t take the threat against her seriously. That allows the patient to attempt to kidnap Brit, but Alex is able to intervene before she gets hurt.

When it becomes clear that Brit’s stalker knows where she lives, Alex takes her to stay with him but the close quarters make it impossible for them to resist the sizzling chemistry they have. The two finally give in to their attraction and the sex is mind blowing for both of them. A lot of times I skim through sex scenes because when you’ve read as many as I have, they can become repetitive and boring. This time I read every word of those scenes and whether it was because of the connection that had been built between them, or just the way Byrd writes, they were steamy and sexy and didn’t feel like I had read the same thing a hundred times before.

As the psychotic patient becomes more unhinged, he steps up his threats and his attempts to get at Brit. Alex takes her out of town to not only keep her safe, but take her mind off it all and while they are in Miami, Brit gets to see a more playful, less guarded side of him. Despite the fact that she is falling in love with him, Brit decides to just enjoy the time she has with Alex and deal with the heartache later. For his part, Alex knows that something is different about his relationship with the voluptuous doctor but, of course, he refuses to acknowledge it.

Alex’s brothers and Ben’s wife Reese can clearly see that he has fallen for Brit, but he is so determined to fight it that he pushes her away. There is a cute scene with Reese telling Alex off and it is clear that the issues they had with each other in the first book have been resolved. He can see how happy and in love his brother is but is still convinced that love is not worth it. I loved the relationship between the brothers and I’m sure Mike’s book will be just as fun.

Despite the fact that he goes out of his way to push Brit away, you can’t help but love Alex. He’s definitely an alpha, dominant man but until now, he had never met his match. Brit is not a super skinny heroine which I liked since not every woman has a perfect body, but I also loved her intelligence, independence and the fact that she didn’t just roll over and play dead for him. She sees through his gruff nature to the man beneath and gives her heart to him knowing it may end in heartache. They were a great match for each other!

If you like romantic suspense books combined with loveable characters and chemistry that jumps out of the pages, then you will enjoy this book. Byrd’s writing style has me hooked and I’m really looking forward to the next installment.

4 Hot and Steamy Stars!

Keep Me Closer is the second book in the Dangerous Tides series written by Rhyannon Byrd. Although I haven’t read the first book, after reading the synopsis I was intrigued and couldn’t wait to download it to my Kindle and I am so glad I did.

Alex is one of three brothers who all work in law enforcement. After his divorce five years ago and being fired, he relocated to Florida and now works as a private investigator. When one of his brothers asks as a favor for him to keep an eye on Brit, a friend of his sister-in-law, for fear of her safety, he begrudgingly agrees, although never actually believing she is in any real danger. But when Alex rescues Brit from an attack, it proves to him there may be more to the situation than he previously thought. Although Alex decides to take charge of the situation in order to keep Brit safe, he realizes having her in such close proximity may turn out to be a detriment. Although he has always felt a physical attraction to Brit, he made the choice to keep his distance in light of her relationship with his family not to mention the fact that she has shown him nothing more than an avid dislike and hatred.

Brit is a psychologist who not only works in the private sector, but has also assisted the police with mentally disturbed and psychopathic individuals. When one of her former patients begins to stalk her, she finds herself reluctantly under the protection of Alex, the brother of her friend’s husband and a man who has never shown her anything more than animosity. Although Brit has always found Alex to be outstandingly gorgeous, she has always maintained her distance believing it better to look but don’t touch. But now that she is forced to stay with him and remain under Alex’s protection while the police continue to hunt for her attacker, she begins to lose that battle. With both Alex and Brit spending so much time together, they both begin to experience an attachment to one another neither of them ever anticipated.

I really liked the complexity of both Alex and Brit. With Alex, though on surface he appears to dislike Brit intensely, his inner dialog tells us what a confused soul he really is. Never having recovered from the circumstances surrounding the breakup of his marriage, the time he spends with Brit begins to sporadically break down the walls he has kept around his heart and reveals to him the true reason he has always maintained his distance from finding love. Likewise, from the beginning of this story Brit seemingly shares a mutual loathing for Alex as well. But I could feel the sexual attraction and chemistry shared between them practically emanating from my Kindle. And WOW! The writing of Ms. Byrd here is outstanding with some seriously and undeniably hot and steamy moments in the bedroom, on dining room table, on Brit’s desk and, well, I’m not going to spoil it for you dear readers, but suffice it to say, not many surfaces (or positions) are left out.

Keep Me Closer can be read as a standalone novel, but I enjoyed this story between Alex and Brit so much and liked all of the other characters as well, I am definitely going to go back to the beginning of the series. I feel as though I would like to meet them all from the start and travel through and experience their worlds in order to have a deeper understanding of who they are now. I would most assuredly recommend Keep Me Closer as it tells a story of two uncertain and sometimes insecure individuals who ultimately find themselves when they open their hearts to each other.

Title: Keep Me Closer

Series: Dangerous Tides Book #2

Author: Rhyannon Byrd

Genre: Romance

Blurb: Five years after the end of his marriage and his career as a detective, Alex Hudson wears a permanent suit of armor to keep the world at bay. Now a PI in South Florida, he believes that he’s better off free of romantic complications—even if a certain beautiful redhead makes him sweat with little more than a look. But he’s determined to steer clear of women and the trouble they bring. Until trouble comes uninvited...Renowned therapist Brit Cramer has seen her fair share of violence and knows how to handle it. But when a former patient targets Brit as his feminine “ideal,” she finds help in the last place she ever expected—the tall, dark, outrageously sexy Alex Hudson, who saves her from a violent attack. Brit’s been powerfully attracted to Alex from the moment they first met several years ago, but she knew better than to do more than enjoy the view…The initial uncertainty they both feel shatters in the face of a searing, absolute desire, but their time is running out as they find themselves caught in the sights of a madman who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Before they know it, they’re fighting not only for their lives, but for the possibility that they may have both found exactly what they’ve always wanted and needed...in each other.

Thoughts: This series is one of my absolute favorites from Rhyannon Byrd. The first one was absolutely amazing, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this next one. It doesn't let you down either - it has everything you need to make an outstanding novel - charismatic characters, suspense and intrigue, hot chemistry, exceptional side characters, etc. And we finally get to delve behind those sparks we seen between Brit and Alex in Take Me Under.

While I loved this book, too, it wasn't quite as much as the first one. In the middle it sort of lagged a bit for me, but other than that it was just a great read. It is a stand alone novel, but you simply have to read the first one - it was simply exceptional! There are characters that make brief cameos though that are familiar faces from previous books - which is how - when I noticed a few characters that I had no idea who they were - I discovered I had missed a novella! (Sometimes, a release sneaks by me!) I definitely plan on reading that one as well!

*For those of you interested in the novella, it is a compilation of two books (one by Shayla Black, and the other by Rhyannon Byrd). The title for these works is Wicked and Dangerous.

I received a free digital copy from Netgalley and a print copy from NAL in exchange for an honest review.

Keep Me Closer should have been retitled DANGEROUS!!
Alex and Brit.... Alex and Brit... Alex ... Alex... Alex....

Its possible I'm still in shock... Was there a story involved? What was the plot? I can't get past his.... Oh. My. God.
Holy crap on fire ladies... Have a change of panties ready. I am so totally serious.
Rhyannon Byrd has broken out the big guns on this one. LITERALLY. Find some time to be alone for this one because by the time you're done you'll be clawing at them just to get you through the book if you don't. Hide it from your husbands... Hide it from your boyfriends... You might just burn out your battery operated boyfriends for you single ladies out there. This book is hot - no, not just hot but friggen' scorching.
I can't even remember what the book was supposed to be about because I was so busy panting over the EXPLICITLY hot sex scenes.
Any issues I had with the rough and tumble harshness of Alex's personality and manners were swallowed whole... oh god... by his super massive... well, you'll find out...
You do NOT want to miss this one. Read it once, twice a hundred times because it gets better every time.

There is much praise for Rhyannon Byrd’s novel’s so when the opportunity came for me to review one,I jumped at the chance. Keep Me Closer instantly grabbed my attention since it sounded angsty (you know I love it) and needless to say…it was!

Alex has agreed to help his brother out by keeping an eye on Brit, who is a family friend and may have a stalker problem. There has always been a chemistry between these two but Alex is determined to be an ass to keep Brit at a distance since he has never healed from his failed marriage. But,when a threat from a former patient of Brit’s is real, these two are forced to spend time together and it was fun to watch the walls crumble and these two fall to their desires.

Keep Me Closer is an edgy,tension-filled Romantic Suspense that will keep you on your toes until the final page. This can be read as a standalone but I enjoyed it so much I plan to go and read the first book to this series!

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Scholastic Siren - Sara:

--Actual Rating 3.5 Skulls

Brit Cramer has a stalker, he is a former patient of hers. He is an abuse victim, and his story is horrific. He thinks Britt can cleanse him of his past.

Alex Hudson is hired by his brother to protect Britt. His brother thinks they would be perfect together and is hoping for more than protection to come of this assignment.

This book is well written and fast-paced. I really like the two characters, but I don't like that they are the only two characters until very late in the story. There are some side characters, but they don't really come on scene much. Even the "bad guy" is only around through his deeds and a few calls.

If the romance is more important than the suspense, this book is for you. If you like a good thriller, you might like this book. If you're looking for a mystery, I can't recommend it.

I was highly anticipating this next book in the series, and it did not disappoint. Alex is hot, sexy, dirty, and pure alpha with no apologies. You knew from his brothers he had a tender side, he just hadn't gotten past his divorce and his response to what happened. Brit is a great female lead, and she challenged Alex, as well as found her dark side and craving for more; lucky for her Alex was very willing to oblige. I always enjoy when an author revisits previous characters in the series, and we see both Ben and Reese, as well as Ryder and Lilly. The best parts are of course the sex scenes and how much Alex craves and worships Brit's body, it is so hot and really sexy all the way around. The character insights into Alex and Brit were strong, and the lead up to the climax of the suspense was good. I am highly anticipating Mike's story now, and feel Byrd will give us even more sexy dirty scenes.

I loved this book! I'd read some rave reviews for it, so my expectations were high and rightly so. I've only read two books by her so far, but Rhyannon Byrd is becoming one of my favorite authors. She works in suspense with tons (and I means tons) of romance, but somehow manages to balance the steamy with the sweet.

I'm going to go back and read the first book, but I didn't have any trouble following this story without having read the first one.

4.5 stars!
I'm a huge sucker for a good romantic suspense - this one fits the bill! The bad guy is hugely creeptastic, the heroine is hugely smart and the Alex is just freaking huge in all the right places!

I really liked this book! I loved that Brit was so honest and not afraid to tell it like it was. Alex was just a bonehead at times regarding his feelings, but he could certainly make up for that when it came to his dirty mouth and his moves. Man, were the sex scenes HOT! This not-quite-friends-to-lovers story was, by far, my favorite in this series.

This has to be the dirtiest, filthiest book I've read...And I LOVED IT!!! This book was so over the top with its descriptions that it started to come off kinda cheesy, but in a good way. All the dirty talkin' fit Alex. He never wavered in his personality when he was with Brit, and was caveman to the very end. This was definitely a guilty pleasure read for me.

Rhyannon Byrd really knows how to tell a scorching hot story! I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I loved the development in Alex's character, it was so well written. And the Walking Dead reference was just priceless!

DNF. I'm sure this is very good if you like erotica. I, myself, do not and didn't realize this would be so graphic. I'm calling it quits before the end due to the squick factor.
