I read this book 16 years after it was first published, but the stories behind the politics and maneuvering of would be franchise owners remains quite fascinating. However, while those parts of the book were informative, the author often gets caught up in minutia or statistics and examples that read more like a long-form stats page. While these parts were extremely dry, and I felt did not service the main narrative that differentiated this book from so many others, they do not make the other insights any less interesting. If you're a fan of the Edmonton Oilers or hockey in Edmonton, it's a great (albeit frustrating) look into the boardrooms of hockey franchise ownership.
