In Rewired Charlie helps a struggling bi polar Jesse as he in turn tries to win back her heart. Ok so I'm not even going to lie, I always had a bone to pick with Jesse but in Rewired my heart went out to him. Sam is the obvious better man for Charlie but after staring this book you cannot help but be drawn just as she is to Jesse.
“You fight. You fuck. You run. And you’re gonna fucking drown! Welcome to rock-fucking-bottom, Jess.” -Charlie
And she does, oh does she try to make it right for him. She helps him every way she can hoping it will be enough. And in doing so she re-opens old wounds and reveals some very surprising information.
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about this book was easy.
And through all this another man, Sam, is still there ready to battle his heart out for Charlie.

“You can’t fix this one. He’s broken into a million pieces.” Angie shook her head. “There’s nobody that can rewire that mind. I know it’s what you do best, believe me, you’ve picked my ass up many times and helped me through some really tough times. But this is Jesse…” She could barely say his name without punching the wall. She stepped back, keeping a hold of Charlie’s hands. “… and he’s going to break you.
All this does is hit me HARD.

He slumped. “I’m not an asshole because I’m bipolar, Charlie. Bipolar is what I am by nature.”
“I don’t understand.” After looking around the sidewalk for any eavesdroppers, he swung his head down and whispered, “Nurture is what made me an asshole. My nature just makes it hard to control.” She paused, processing his words. “But, the medication will help?” He took a drag from his cigarette. “Yeah, but not completely. I’ll never be as good as you. I’ll never have the solace or mindfulness that you have. There’s just too damn much swirling around up there to keep it all under control.” He shrugged. She nodded in sympathy, so he continued. “It’s all a chemical reaction. There’s something off in my brain that makes my thoughts scatter all over the place.”
My Thoughts
I debated back and forth on how to rate this book. I’ve decided to go with a full 5, the epilogue gave it the push and I could not deny it. Rewired was Amy Queau’s best book in the series in my humble opinion. The growth that Charlie exhibits showed just how far she came from book #1, Progress. She was no longer the insecure weak young woman that allowed Jesse to stomp all over her. Not only was she strong, but she also took on Jesse’s struggle and promised to help him get to a better place… Knowing damn well that Sam loved her and she him. Knowing damn well that Jesse may not be the one she should be with.
Amy, I want to take this time to thank you for allowing me to read your Progress series and to encourage you to keep writing!!

“I think I loved you before I knew I was capable of it.” – Jesse
What a journey I have taken with the Progress series by Amy Queau. It is like no other series I have EVER read before. It’s full of ups and downs (okay, mostly downs) about two characters that are so broken and damaged. It’s a series about overcoming life’s obstacles, moving on, and growing as a person. Rewired is the third and final book in the series. I was sad to see it end but it was time. Jesse and Charlie finally needed their closure, their path in life, and to finally have happiness.
My Casting:
Rewired picks up right where Interrupted left off.
Beware of spoilers if you have read the first two books yet.
Charlie left her fiancé, Sam in the parking lot at a party and took off with Jesse. Jesse has been in and out of Charlie’s life for years. They have this connection and Charlie can’t let go of Jesse, no matter how toxic he is for her. Charlie is determined to help Jesse and get his life back on track. She is determined to get him to stop the drugs, drinking, the hooking-up, and get him on his medication. She feels she HAS to help him. She also has feelings for him, past and present she loves him in her own way.
“What we were to each other; what we might be again for each other, is never going to go away if we don’t try and figure it out.” -Charlie
”I’ve wasted so much time searching for the next girl I’d take to bed with me every night….” he kissed her neck softly and she tensed. “…. But I should have been trying to find the girl I wanted to wake up next to.” -Jesse
“I’ve given up my ‘happily ever after’ to make this right. I walked away from my future, for you. The man I was going to spend the rest of my life with is now standing – alone – in a parking lot, holding my coat in his arms, wondering where I am. So all I’m going to say is that you better be ready for this. Because this is going to a ride to hell and back.” -Charlie
Now it’s Charlie & Jesse and their screwed up relationship continues. I know, after everything Jesse has said, did, or is… I still want Charlie and Jesse together. They have a very unique love story; I really do believe they love one another. They have been through way too much not to. She is good for him; she brings the light when his head is full of darkness but as I read, I kept thinking… what does Jesse do for Charlie? I wanted them together but I just wasn’t sure if that was possible and still have a happy-ever-after.
”I’m more completely obsessed with a woman that will probably never give me all I want, even if she gives me all that she has.” - Jesse
Progress & Interrupted I felt were Charlie’s healing process while Rewired was Jesse’s. This is Jesse’s time to grow and become the man he really is and Charlie was there for him faithfully. Then there is Sam. Sam is Charlie’s light. She cheated on him with Jesse yet he still loved her and wanted to be with her again. That is where my confusion lie… what man should Charlie really be with? I am Team Jesse but was I Team Sam too? I honestly was completely confused while reading and THAT has NEVER happened before!
“I can hear you heart.” He whispered. “And every time I say ‘I love you’ in my head, your heartbeat thumps twice.” - Jesse
What I absolutely LOVED most about Rewired was the writing style. Rewired is written in third person point of view, but the characters have inner dialogue with themselves that is in their point of view. It was like having the best of both worlds as I read. I felt it was essential to this story just because there were THREE characters that were going through heartbreak, confusion, and pain all at the same time. It would have been impossible to connect with the book any other way. I am not usually a fan of third person POV but like I said, it turned out to be my one of favorite things about Rewired.
The author, Amy Queau knows how to tell a story like no one else. These characters felt REAL, the story felt REAL, the ending was REAL. As you read you are going to mad at the characters, you are going to be confused on if Charlie should be with Jesse because of everything they have gone through or Sam because he is the “smart choice” who loves Charlie from the moment he met her, and you may not agree with the ending…. But it’s REAL and that is what I love about this series.
The epilogue was just perfect, it goes into the future and where everyone is in their lives. You feel closure but your imagination will continue on with the possibilities… at least mine did!
I fell in love with Charlie; a girl we could all relate to. She transformed into an amazing woman in the series and met two very different but special men along the way. As sad as I am to see these characters go, it was time. They needed their ending and their closure… for their sanity & mine!
I give Rewired (Progress #3) 4.5 Stars!

This book GUTTED me....ABSOLUTELY GUTTED me!!! I have followed Charlie and Jesse's story from the first book and even though Jesse was an asshole - I still rooted for him as the underdog. My poor poor Jesse has been through the ringer and it tore me up - I moped around the house so upset at the ending of this book because one of them had to get hurt. My heart broke over and over again.
I lived this book through Charlie and Sam...I got into their souls and felt the pain and torture they both lived through. I empathized with Charlie over her problems as a young adult and was right there with her feeling her pain. I cheered for Charlie when she became the strong woman we meet in Book 3 and fucking felt proud of her.
This is what an awesome author is capable of....getting the reader to walk right along the characters and experience the same feelings all around. My hats off to you Amy - you KICK ASS!!
Ohhh...the story....sorry - I'm getting to that - We pick up right after Book 2 where Charlie sent Sam back in to get her sweater and while he is inside - Charlie chooses Jesse to run off with.
Charlie vows to help him battle his bi-polar disorder and figure out what sets him off - but does Charlie really love him like Jesse loves her? We live that through the book - Charlie feels like she deserves this after cheating on Sam with Jesse and that she doesn't deserve the type of man that Sam is.
Charlie battles with Jesse - getting him to take his medication, getting to reconnect with his adopted parents, diving into his past and getting him to reopen all the old wounds of his past. Jesse continues to have his ups and his down - and let me tell you - when Jesse is down....SHIT that boy is way way down.
Charlie doesn't let Jesse walk all over her like before - she stands up to him and allows him to suck off her positive energy until it feels like Charlie is losing everything ---- is she really helping Jesse or is she just torturing herself.

So welcome to the book that tore my world apart and flipped my sense of reality upside down and inside out. The book that made frustrated, mad, sad, okay and then, then it freaking gutted me and made me ugly cry as I found complete and utter acceptance.
This book is the culmination of everything and is where I fell in love with Jesse and switched teams. This was the book that made me bite my nails and hope and wish and then shoved reality in my face. This was the book that told me life is uncontrollable and what we want we don't always get and sometimes what is right for one is not right for another. This was the book that reminded me that sometimes fiction is based off reality and while we use it to escape from reality sometimes we need to remember that life still exists beyond the pages.
I have never had my wishes, wants, and disappointments washed away with an epilogue but the one in Rewired changed my entire perspective on this entire story and made any walls I built to block and protect my emotions crumble. This book turned me on my head and left me completely astounded. I have never had a book that I felt was leaving me disappointed because it didn't go the way I wanted, make me find peace with how it went like this one does. The possibilities that the end brings up made me instantly okay, but maybe that is just me. Maybe i am one of the few that sees what the end might mean by other reviews I read but the possibilities exist none the less.

Progress. That's the exact word we are given. Progress isn't where something is fixed or solved, it's progressed from one place to the next.
This book, who do you think is the main character, take your pick
Charlie?
Jesse?
Sam?
I thought it was Charlie too, I thought that we were finding out who Charlie chooses, why Charlie made certain decisions.
But this is about Jesse, we may not understand him, and we may judge him but this book is all about him and his thoughts, I loved the surprise Jesse excerpt at the end, beautifully done Amy.
I started reading this a little disappointed, I didn't get it. I didn't understand why Charlie left, but this isn't her story. It's Jesse's.
I left wondering about his life and wondering if I could help fix him myself, because we know with his knee bouncing, he ain't on his meds.
I wish we got a little more of my Charlie and Sam, but I like what we saw.
A lovely trilogy and please Amy, don't stop writing. For each person who might slate your book, one person is being touched and inspired. Jesse's letter to Charlie made me think of many things in my life. It touched me and it will others. You are a natural Amy. Don't give up.

As an adoring fan of both Progress and Interrupted I was elated when Amy asked me if I would like to read Rewired in advance. I was left at the top of that emotional roller coaster at the end of Interrupted, torn between my feelings about the choice Charlie had made.
Well, if you think that's the end of the ride.....you thought wrong! Rewired picks right up where Interrupted leaves off and is double the tears, heart palpations and heartache of books one and two combined. The story takes you on a beautiful heart wrenching journey of just how far you will go to save someone you love. I was an emotional mess while reading this. I'm actually getting tears in my eyes writing this review and thinking about it once again. My heart ached for Charlie, Samuel and most of all Jesse. Yes, Jesse the man that I had such an intense love/hate relationship with in the first two books. The only word to describe the ending, in my opinion is - bittersweet. It's been two days since I finished this book and the characters are still weighing heavy on my mind.
If you have not read the first two books in this series yet, I highly recommend them and be sure to add this one to your TBR list....you won't be sorry that you did.

All I can say is wow.
I read Rewired in one sitting because I was so anxious to see how everything turned out. Especially after the way Interrupted ended (Thanks Amy!!). I wasn't disappointed. This whole series captured my attention and kept hold of it, right to the very last page. I'm so glad with how everything turned out for everyone.
The perfect end to the series.
And that epilogue. Oh MY GOD it was genius. I LOVED it. It took the book to a whole new level. Before the eli, this was still a five star read, but by the end I would've rated this ten if I could.
I can't wait to see what Amy has in store for us next.

I enjoyed the series, but I am not sure how I feel about the epilogue.
The author did a nice job with the multiple POVs which I am usuall not a fan of.

Rewired is the third and final installment or Amy Queau's Progress series. We finally get to see the decisions that all three of our main characters have to make, because that's it you see, this book started out about Charlie, in Interrupted it was still about Charlie, but Rewired? This book is about Charlie, Jessie and Sam. Their choices and actions, their mistakes, their faults and flaws, and the outcome of it all
The Progress series isn't just a story about boy meets girl, this is about real life, and parts of each book you can't help but relate to.
Rewired broke my heart repeatedly. I shouted and swore like a sailor(first half I was all like wtf?), and I cried like a big baby girl(I honestly, truly did, it was embarressing!)But the ending... man, what a fucking ending!
This book ties up all the loose ends from each book in the series, wraps them up and shoves it down your throat so hard and fast that when you come to that last damn page... you simply can't breathe.
So this is it. The end. The conclusion.
I warn you this isn't a journey or a ride, this is a joyride to the other side. The other side of what you might ask. Read it and see.

I read the entire series in less than 2 days. This meant, I sat in my chair and did nothing else but read. My kids are lucky they got dinner.
Rather than give my thoughts on the individual books, I decided to give my thoughts on the series as a whole.
HOLY CRAP! I loved the story, I hated the story. But I didn't hate it in the, "this sucks" sense. Nope, it was in the, "OMG, I hurt for all of them!" As much as you would like to think a story is cut and dry, easy solutions to conflict, etc., because as in real life, that isn't always the case.
Charlie struck me as a strong personality, kind, loving, flawed and real. I don't want to say much beyond that, for fear of giving away any part of this story.
Jesse - What can I say about Jesse? I was Team Jess pretty quickly. I was angry with him, wanted to cuss him out - but at the same time, I loved him. His moments where he opened up might have been seldom, but when he did, his vulnerability showed through.
Sam - He is THE ultimate good guy. How can you not love Sam? He's the guy that every girl wants to settle down with. He's loving, reliable, funny...the whole package.
This review totally sucks, but only because I can't say everything I want to without giving it away. But honestly, The Progress Series was amazing. And I was sobbing...ugly-crying at the final chapter and epilogue, if that tells you anything.

As I sit here trying to think about how and what I want to write about this book, this series emotion overwhelms me to think that I could be so moved and affected by a series. This series will catch you by surprise if you allow it to. Book 1 was slow for me and I almost didn't want to keep reading but I needed to know more so I continued. Book 2 sunk its hooks in me and didn't let go. By book 3 I just had to know how it all ended, although I want to express my complete feelings I will refrain and just say that journey has been profound. As you read this review you may think that it is useless and doesn't make you want to read this series but if I do say so myself, you could be missing out on something truly special.
Well done Amy Queau and thank you for sharing such a beautiful story with all those that read it.

Ok, I slept on it. Spoilers ahead:
I really think Charlie chose the stable life. I feel like she settled. I know she loved Sam and probably was the best choice and in real life would be the smart choice. But since this was fictional I really wish she would have went with Jess. After writing that I realized the ending was just perfect a little too perfect.

I freaking loved this one!!! After everything that happend in these books I am so happy how everything turned out and I really loved how jessed was in this book and that epilogue was flipping perfect!!

This series left me emotionally exhausted, but it was worth every minute. Amy Queau has given us a series that is like no other that I have read. I can't say it is a romantic story, it wasn't a mystery, it wasn't an erotic. It was a story of two real, damaged, emotional and physically scared people who struggle to make life work.
In the first book Progress we are introduced to Charlie and Jesse. Charlie is a 23 year old, over weight, virgin who has dealt with being bullied her whole life. She has internalized those insults so much they have become what she thinks of herself. She is ugly, undesirable, not wanted or loved. She meets Jesse at work and in attracted to him, but she knows she is not in his league.
Jesse is a handsome playboy. He has sex with many women, but never commits to anyone. He also has mental issues that make him unstable. One minute he is happy and charming, the next he is a devil on legs with angry outburst, drinking and getting high. His background is slowly uncovered to expose that he had an abusive father and foster fathers. He carried the guilt over a death in his family and he lost the one woman he felt he could love, if he knew what love was.
Book one could only be described as an emotional tug of war between Jesse and Charlie. It was a pure example of I hate you don't leave me scene over and over and over. At one point I would want them two together and happy, the next I would hate one of them for being stupid then flip the page and think you both stink and deserve each other.
So we move on to book two, Interrupted. After Charlie decided to take a stand in book one, she goes through the journey of trying to rebuild her life in book two. She had constant doubts if she was wise to walk away from Jesse but she made the choice, now she has to move forward. She meets a man from college again, changes jobs, moves out of her parents house, into her own apartment and learns how to live in a skinny woman's body. She eventually gets engaged, but there is always something missing.
Jesse didn't handle the separation as well. After hitting a new rock bottom, he knows the only way to be complete is to go back and win his Charlie back. Unfortunately, I am not sure yet if him coming back into Charlies life is what she needs. Sam loves Charlie and gives her the life she deserves, but is it what she wants? Jesse is her drug, Sam is her safety, Charlie is her own worst enemy and we have more emotional tug of war.
By the end of book two I was even more emotionally exhausted because once again I was screaming at her to wake up and do the right thing..........yeah like I know what the right thing is for her.
Now we go into book 3, Rewired. Buckle your seat belts readers, if you thought the first two would emotionally beat the crap out of ya, you haven't seen nothing yet. There is just to much to say about this final book in the series. As with the other two books there is confusion, heart break and a ton of anger from this reader. I have never in my life flip flopped with my emotions towards characters. I wanted to stop the agony of watching three characters that I fell in love with suffer, but I couldn't stop. I was to invested in this story. I won't give the spoilers or ending away, but let me say it is a true representation of what life is about. Sometimes we decide to risk our own sanity and health to help heal someone else, only to realize we can't heal them, they have to heal themselves. This is what Charlie had to find out. Jesse also had to learn that we aren't all born survivors, sometimes we have to fight for that status. What Charlie gave Jesse robbed her of years, but did she finally decide he was worth it? Did Charlie decide to let go of her hopes for Jesse and build a life with Sam? I wouldn't want to be in her shoes, I think I fell for both Jesse and Sam.
The final pages in the book give us about as much closure as we could expect from these characters. We get a chance to see where Sam, Jesse and Charlie landed, but we still are left wondering where they will finally end up. The way the author ended this series, we cross from seeing them as fictional characters to becoming real people. I felt like I was reuniting with people from my past that I have lost contact with over the years. Sometimes you smile at what they have done with their lives, sometimes you just shake your head and feel heartache for their choices.
I don't know what more I can say about this series other than on one hand I am glad I am done with it so I can rest my heart and brain, but I don't think I will ever be the same after reading it. It touched a level of my heart that not many are able to reach in my real life. The author didn't give us a book series, she gave us an emotional transformation, an experience that not many can give readers. At some point in the series you question your values and what you would do for someone else. I found I also questioned my beliefs about what love really is. I can only end this review by saying, five stars isn't even worthy of this series........this goes so far beyond ratings and stars. It is a 100% life changing series.

“But this thing between us…what we were to each other; what we might be again for each other, is never going to go away if we don’t try to figure it out.”
Rewired picks up exactly where Interrupted left off. Charlie and Jesse have left the holiday party and are going to try and figure out what’s going to happen next. They know this is going to be hard but it seems as if they are both determined to see it through.
“She thinks Jesse knows what she’s been through. She thinks he understands. And that means he’s gone through the same shit she has.”
I know Charlie is doubtful of him but I feel like she still isn’t really giving him a chance. I feel like you need to choose your battles and when he gets pissed over the two drunk guys acting like jerks, she picked the wrong one. It just escalated from there and turned into a fight with him over his meds. While yes I think that he should be on them, I don’t think she went about it the right way. And when he finally spends his whole paycheck to buy them, starts taking them and is so proud to have her over for dinner, she just picks another fight, which sets him off.
“You fight. You fuck. You run. And you’re gonna fucking drown! Welcome to rock-fucking bottom, Jess.”
“This has always been and will always be rock bottom. It doesn’t get much more desperate than this.”
Now I know Jesse is far from perfect. He can be quite an ass. Calling her a bitch or being mean really isn’t necessary but like she’s even said he’s never been taught to act any other way. If she sincerely wants to be with him then she really needs to TRY. Yes he’s unpredictable but again he needs a chance and she needs to stop setting him off. My heart really bled for him. I just felt like all he needed was a real chance and for someone to believe in him and help him get better.
“Do you feel that? Can you feel what’s going on between us right now? Because I can. I can hear your heart. And every time I say I love you in my head, your heartbeat thumps twice.”
See he truly does have his own swoon worthy moments as well!! GAH! These two had way to many unsaid thoughts and if they would’ve just said them out loud, things could’ve gone a lot differently.
“You can’t fix this one. He’s broken into a million pieces.”
She ends up putting her relationship with Sam on hold until she can figure out how to help Jesse. In the meanwhile, she’s lucky that Sam even still wants her after what he found out. He was already cheated on once before so for it to happen again was a blow in the face. And even after that he still tries to find out why she did it. Getting his POV at this part really did make me swoon for him. It truly showed how much he loved her.
“F*ck this. She might think I’m an a**h*le; she might think he’s better for her; she might think our story is over, but its not. I’m not going down without a fight. Or at least, not going down without an explanation.”
“I walked away from my future, for you…So all I’m going to say is that you better be ready for this. Because this is going to be a ride to hell and back.”
Well said Amy Q. This book definitely took me on a hell of a ride. And without saying too much, all I’m going to say is I want another book!
“But she’s like an empty syringe, a promise that once I shoot it in my vein, ill be satisfied. But the second I put out of her, I just want to bury myself back in. It’s never enough. I always want more.”

I feel like you need to choose your battles and when he gets pissed over the two drunk guys acting like jerks, she picked the wrong one. It just escalated from there and turned into a fight with him over his meds. While yes I think that he should be on them, I don’t think she went about it the right way. And when he finally spends his whole paycheck to buy them, starts taking them and is so proud to have her over for dinner, she just picks another fight, which sets him off.
“You fight. You fuck. You run. And you’re gonna fucking drown! Welcome to rock-fucking bottom, Jess.”
“This has always been and will always be rock bottom. It doesn’t get much more desperate than this.”
Now I know Jesse is far from perfect. He can be quite an ass. Calling her a bitch or being mean really isn’t necessary but like she’s even said he’s never been taught to act any other way. If she sincerely wants to be with him then she really needs to TRY. Yes he’s unpredictable but again he needs a chance and she needs to stop setting him off. My heart really bled for him. I just felt like all he needed was a real chance and for someone to believe in him and help him get better.
“Do you feel that? Can you feel what’s going on between us right now? Because I can. I can hear your heart. And every time I say I love you in my head, your heartbeat thumps twice.”
See he truly does have his own swoon worthy moments as well!! GAH! These two had way to many unsaid thoughts and if they would’ve just said them out loud, things could’ve gone a lot differently.
“You can’t fix this one. He’s broken into a million pieces.”
She ends up putting her relationship with Sam on hold until she can figure out how to help Jesse. In the meanwhile, she’s lucky that Sam even still wants her after what he found out. He was already cheated on once before so for it to happen again was a blow in the face. And even after that he still tries to find out why she did it. Getting his POV at this part really did make me swoon for him. It truly showed how much he loved her.
“F*ck this. She might think I’m an a**h*le; she might think he’s better for her; she might think our story is over, but its not. I’m not going down without a fight. Or at least, not going down without an explanation.”
“I walked away from my future, for you…So all I’m going to say is that you better be ready for this. Because this is going to be a ride to hell and back.”
Well said Amy Q. This book definitely took me on a hell of a ride. And without saying too much, all I’m going to say is I want another book!
“But she’s like an empty syringe, a promise that once I shoot it in my vein, ill be satisfied. But the second I put out of her, I just want to bury myself back in. It’s never enough. I always want more.”

Having been with this series since book one I was thrilled to finally see how it was going to all turn out. Charlie and Jesse have gone through a lot, and after the ending of the last book, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book to see how it all turned out. Queau has improved a lot as a writer and this novel takes the cake as the best, and most well written book, in the series. The changing perspectives flowed seamlessly and the writing pulled me in and didn’t let me go until the very last page.
One of the best parts of this series has been watching the development of Charlie. She is in such a different place in this novel than she was in the first book and this novel really emphasizes that change. Charlie is now a strong and confident woman instead of the shy girl we meet in the first novel. Likewise Jesse, the whole reason behind her change, is in a completely different place as well. What’s fascinating to me is how the chaos that is Jesse has made Charlie into a stronger person, I love that aspect of their relationship and this novel really brings it all together.
This novel was an absolute roller coaster of emotions. Like Charlie, I had a special place in my heart for both Sam and Jesse. I loved both of them for different reasons; Sam for his sweet personality and Jesse for making Charlie into the person that she is. Throughout the novel I was on the edge of my seat, wondering who Charlie was ultimately going to end up with. I could see the story going both ways and I was excited to see what Queau decided on and how it was going to all play out. I definitely didn’t see the ending coming and honestly the series couldn’t have turned out any more perfectly.
My favorite part of this novel had to be the development of Sam. Even though we’re introduced to him in the second novel his personality doesn’t stand out as much as Jesse’s does so it was easy to forget about him. I loved having the chance to read from his point of view in this novel and gain a deeper insight to his character. By the time I had finished reading his portion of the story I had a whole new respect for him and even though he wasn’t quite as exciting as Jesse I knew that underneath it all I wanted him to be with Charlie.
The Progress series has been a fascinating one; not just from the psychological perspective but to the development of the characters as well. A great series the Progress series stands out among the slew of indie novels and I highly recommend this series to fans of contemporary romance.

But it's what we do with it afterwards that defines us, challenges us, and either stops us dead in our tracks or propels us to move forward," Amy Queau writes in Rewired, the third book in the Progress Series. I can’t get this quote out of my mind and I think it is a perfect summation of what the Progress Series is about.
Rewired continues right where Interrupted (Progress #2) left off, and propels us into another emotional ride with Jesse, Charlie and Sam. Charlie left Sam alone in a parking lot to go with Jesse and try to "fix" him. Jesse has a troubled past that Charlie can't leave alone and in her quest to help Jesse, she will have to learn things about him that bring up past memories for her. Charlie can't forgive herself for leaving Sam alone in the parking lot, but Sam knows there has to be some motivation for Charlie to act the way she has. But can Sam ever forgive Charlie for what she’s done to their relationship? Will Charlie be able to help Jesse overcome his past?
While I loved Ms. Queau’s first two novels in the series, Rewired is by far my favorite. It is the perfect conclusion to this emotionally wrought story about friendship, mental illness, trauma, learning to forgive, to love yourself and to love others (among other things). Rewired is definitely intended for mature audiences with drug use, mental illness, and sexually explicit scenes. This is one of those books that I’d have to really stretch to find something I didn’t like; it's simply that good. Ms. Queau’s writing is impeccable, the characters are definitely flawed, but they are also very real characters that you can relate to, the story is well planned out.
I can only give this book 5 stars, but if there was a way I could give it 6 stars, I would! I did not want to put this book down and even though I would love more of this story, Ms. Queau did a fabulous job of bringing the series full circle and ending it in a way that will make everybody happy.

I was a little nervous about reading this book at first, because as much as I love reading series, I always hate reading the last book in a series. Too many times I’ve been disappointed by how it all ends. Too many times I’m left with wanting more.
After reading Progress and Interrupted, I should have known that Rewired would break the mold of the last book in a series. I should have known that there was no way Amy Queau could actually disappoint me, as long as she stayed true to these characters that I’ve fallen so deeply in love with. Because I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect book and more than that, a more perfect ending.
The best thing about the entire series is the characters, hands down. Charlie captured my attention from the very beginning, seeming more true to life than many characters I’ve come across in my lifetime, whether in books or movies or TV shows. She’s always reminded me of someone I could know, pieces of her even reminding me of myself at times. And although I spent much of Progress and Interrupted disliking Jesse because of the havoc he wreaked on her life, Rewired found me not only liking him, but rooting for him.
Too many times when I read the final book in a series, I agonize after finishing all the things I would have done differently if it were my book. Maybe that’s the writer in me, maybe it’s just the passionate reader, I don’t know. But with Rewired, there was none of that. Of course I’m sad that the series is over and I will not have any further glimpses into these characters lives, but I’m also beyond satisfied with how the story ended, and where. Rewired did not leave me wanting.
Rewired is full of true to life, well-rounded characters and situations we could all find ourselves in. This book provided an incredible ending to an incredible series, and I look forward to whatever else Amy Queau has in store for us.

Oh my gosh! This book… no, this entire trilogy broke my heart into a million pieces. We finally reach the end of this roller coaster we’ve been on with Charlie and Jesse and, my goodness, what a roller coaster it’s been.
Amy Queau’s writing is breathtaking. Her characters have relatable and depth that you don’t find elsewhere. Her story flows beautifully. The emotion she makes us feel is real and passionate. I don’t think I could possibly say enough to explain to you how much I’ve enjoyed her writing.

Book 3 had a lot of fun in it. Charlie is still trying to figure out how to help Jesse and try to fix him. At least to fix him as much as possible. Jesse is dealing with so much in this story. He is really trying to make things work between himself and Charlie but isn't doing the best job. Charlie is trying to make things work for Jesse but she can't get over Sam. She loves both of them but in different ways. Charlie can't seem to let Sam go and Jesse knows it. He is trying desperately to give Charlie everything but he knows that it just isn't enough. The final story Rewired was really good. I was happy with how it ended. You find out a lot of things about Jesse and his past and you see how much Charlie loves him even though it is the love of friendship. Jesse really struggled in this book but it all worked out for them. A MUST READ!!!

I enjoyed the whole series, as much as one can enjoy an often infuriating and heartbreaking story, but the third book was by far the best one.
We finally learn more about Jesse's life growing up, which is sad. On the plus side, we also learn something positive about Jesse's natural family.
Dealing with guilt, Charlie is on a mission to give Jesse what she feels he really needs, which is someone he can open up to and trust.
An encounter between Jesse and Sam at Yoshi’s Pub sets off the events that lead to the end of the book and, eventually, Charlie's happy ending. I'll admit it didn't necessarily end the way I wanted it to, but it probably ended the way it was supposed to end.
Be sure to read the epilogue after "the end", and the letter after the epilogue.

This 3rd book in the Progress series is heartbreaking, infuriating, and so good. The author, Amy Queau seemed to come into her own writing style in this book. She seems more comfortable writing and storytelling, even though this is a tough one, emotionally. I straight up nearly had an breakdown while reading it. I just wanted to shake and then hug the main characters. The way that both mental illness and sexual assault is dealt with in this book is real and raw, and I felt represented truthfully.Completely devastating.
Anyways. I loved this book, and I am so glad I read it, and the other books in the series.

My heart. It hurts. In the best possible way. Brava to the author for pulling at my heartstrings and crafting a series that is breathtakingly well written with detail and heart.
I loved how throughout this series I wasn't sure how I was suppose to feel about the characters. I didn't know if I loved them or hated them--and there were so many times where I'm certain I was suppose to hate them but...my heart just yell 'BUT WAIT! GIVE THEM A CHANCE!'
Best series I've read this year. Hands down.

What I like about this series is how non-conventional it is and I had no idea who Charlie would end up with. Charlie demonstrated enormous inner strength in this book. Her guilt and love for Jesse kept her trying to help him overcome his destructive behavior to the extent of forgoing her own true happiness. Jesse loved and needed Charlie but his damaged past and mental illness hampered him from giving Charlie what she needed. The snippets of Sam made me feel so sorry for him.

Amy Queau you're a supremely talented writer. Although I love to read, there are only a few books I can say affected all my senses in a real way, and made me feel real emotions. Thank you for sharing this ... your? ... story. I don't think a review can really do this series justice. It needs to be experienced. I love it.

Oh I so didn't want this series to end.
After reading the first two book in the series and following Charlie and Jesse progress through, I'm happy with the outcome ( I'm not spoiling it for you )
