Spiral, the team that defends the world of the future comes under attack in this gun-toting, helicopter flying, tank firing, assassin sniping, explosive action novel. Amidst the non-stop action is our schizophrenic expletive-uttering hero whose efforts are inexplicably superhuman, a subplot that is bound to carry on in to further Spiral novels. However this underlying storyline does make the central character somewhat unlikeable; he is definitely no Dirk Pitt, or James Bond - Spiral's characters are far more brutal. On top of this, there is an unnecessary use of the harshest of expletives and this does detract from the narrative somewhat. The overall feeling of Spiral is that it is aimed at the lowest common denominator - very easy to read, a fair amount of dialogue and a vocabulary that won't challenge any regular reader. All said, Spiral is a captivating read since it never lets up. An enjoyable read for any rainy day.

Wow, this book was brilliant! It was so technically detailed, and I absolutely loved the final battle. The relationship between Carter and Kade was great, and so interesting! Can't wait to see this as a movie!

To be this book had a distinct Tom Clancy aura to it, though England is the homestead. The novels covers many places on Earth and deals with the attempted coup of an organization the average person has no idea exists. The characters are highly trained agents who seem to accurately plan their actions strategically. The story isn't without it's superhuman elements as a new enemy has emerged to seize power from Spiral, but the bad guys didn't think Carter, an ex-agent would be so hard to kill. This book was good enough for me to read onto the next books in the series.
