Born into a family of intellectuals dedicated to the socialist cause, she studied in the Flying University and become one of Poland's most distinguished writers of prose, characterized by realism and psychological depth.
Her first success was Romans Teresy Hennert ("The love of Therese Hennert", 1923). She is best known for her books Granica ("The Frontier", 1935); Węzły życia ("Bonds of Life", 1948) and Medaliony ("Medallions", 1947).

jakość opowiadań pisanych przez życie - przeróżną, od pustych i beznadziejnych do interesujących, z których wyłaniają się drobne perełki, jak np. chyba pierwsze opowiadanie po polsku skupiające się na menstruacji. fabuły jako całość - raczej nieporywające, jako konkretny kontekst do doświadczenia kobiecego czy konkretnej psychologii bohaterów - przydatne.

Opowiadania Zofii Nałkowskiej są dobre, ale trzeba je przeczytać z własnej woli.
