Aw. I read LR 2 and 3 the same day. In this installment, things get a little serious, and there is a little bit of 2nd base action going on. but just the tiniest bit, and then a little punching ensues. Good times.
The individual tracks in this book weren't very good stand-alones, but later on in the book they go to an island for summer vacation. It turns out that the place they are staying is making them work to stay there, so all the beautiful memories they were planning to make are compromised. In the end though, exhausted and disappointed Hoshino and Negishi watch the fireworks together, and he tells her that he was happy anyway because they were there together. Then she hugs him, exhaustedly. It is an excellent moment, when you love someone and are exhausted and collapse on them, well executed in LR.
This follows previous volumes of Love Roma with solid, funny romantic stories. I feel like the pacing of the storytelling and the artwork is getting repetitive, but it’s still enjoyable. I usually don’t like manga’s reverse-reading format, but it works here.
Quite funny, Hoshino and co. reconvene on a summer island of fun - full of comedy. It doesn't particularly have a plot, as it explores the laughs and loves in a school life, so technically speaking, it's merely a comedy for the sake of it.
