The FarQuest has been launched on her mission of discovery to the approaching neutron star. On Earth, unrest is quickly growing as people realize that life on Earth might shortly come to an abrupt end. President Kateland is doing everything in her power to try to preserve at least a small portion of the human race. However, a powerful U.S. Senator does not believe the neutron star threat is real. The situation on Earth is about to explode as Star One and Tycho City struggle to survive in an uncertain future. What is even more frightening is the dark secret hidden by the neutron star. A secret that is so deadly that it makes any chance of survival seem almost impossible. This is the exciting conclusion to Star Neutron Star.
I live in Clinton Oklahoma with my wife of 40 years and our cat. I attended college at SWOSU in Weatherford Oklahoma, majoring in Math with minors in Creative Writing and History.
My hobbies include watching soccer, reading, camping, and of course writing. I coached youth soccer for twelve years before moving on and becoming a high school soccer coach for thirteen more. I also enjoy playing with my five grandchildren. I have a very vivid imagination, which sometimes worries my friends. They never know what I am going to say or what I am going to do.
I am an avid reader and have a science fiction / fantasy collection of over two thousand paperbacks. The space program has always fascinated me and I've followed it since its inception. When I was a teenager, I wanted to be an astronaut. Now, I just write about it.
It is still a good book but I did not like some parts of the plot at all. The book seamlessly continues the story from the previous one. The preparations for the survival of the human race continues and these parts of the book are as good as the previous one. The characters are very enjoyable to read about. That includes the sentient AI.
The parts of the book that I do not like at all are the ones including the total asshole senator Farley and the consequences of his actions. That most politicians are self-centered assholes who are incapable of doing a real job is one thing but this guy is just so far out that it is…well not enjoyable and unreal. A US senator that behaves like a dictator in some third world country? Christ, even the North Korean dictator looks sane compared to this guy. And again, the UN president is not far behind. Sure it adds a bit of excitement and action but in general I think this just dragged the book down for me.
Otherwise this book is just as well written as the previous one and if you do not mind some over the top apocalyptic political nonsense then you will probably find this book as enjoyable as the previous book. The book pretty much concludes the story of the space station Star One but the epilogue is a quite interesting one leaving some very promising avenues open for a continuation based upon the events at the end of this book.
A believable scenario set not too far into the future. Brilliantly told story line. Amazingly clever characterization and development. Imaginative & absorbing.
This is just another example of the well thought out and creative works by one of the absolutely best authors I have ever read. I read ten or more books a month as reading is my choice to relax and add a moment of escape in my life and this author is one of the greats. I Can't Wait for more of his books as I have now read them all.
I loved this story. It is the final book in the Star trilogy. It's full of surprise, action, tension, intrigue and forward SciFi thinking. By only beef is that similarly to the second novel in this series the author tends to to have his characters repeat a lot of dialogue or thoughts. A small example would be like some someone saying, "I hope they made through". Then a couple of lines later the same person would ask the same person, " do you think they made it through?" Then a a few lines later the person would think to themselves. "I know the odds are against them but I'm sure they made it through" This kinda writing happens through the novels. But awesome as this story is I don't even want to dwell on that negative. Great work author!
A very good series, if somewhat repetitive.....giving the viewpoint of most of the main characters involved. This trilogy experiences the end of the world as we know it in cataclysmic fashion. The hopes for the future of the human race depend on a finite number of people in man's space program which has settled the Moon and a large space station at the LaGrange Point in Earth orbit. Survival on Earth is problematic and uncertain due primarily to one politician's megalomania and drive foe power. I really hope for at least one more volume chronicling man's further development and portraying interstellar exploration. Very rewarding tale.......ENJOY!!!
Once again, Raymond L. Weil has given his wonderful talents free rein to continue the story of Star One, the earth and Tycho City. Concentrated on the view point of the inhabitants of Star One, we get to live through the all too rapid approach of the neutron star and its black hole. As the people of earth are tricked into thinking the warnings are a hoax, the people of the two space communities work on figuring out how they might survive. Their solution will amaze you and their adventures will captivate your imagination. We can only hope that the author will keep writing about this brave new world.
Some fascinating ideas in this book, quite a lot characters. Book is too short for the rich description of the apocalypse on Earth and I felt like I don't even care about it, since main story is about cosmic station. The "villain" was too evil and could be omitted in story at all. The plot is not too predictable and has some surprises. The book ending is "to be continued..." style and I think I will go for it when it comes out.
I have read the first three books in the series and I have to keep going. Well written and executed to keep the reader glued to the book. I have not been able to put them down. Time for book four.
