The doctor who wrote this book is a world authority on Parkinson's Disease. I love his hopeful approach, which is one of involved doctors teaching and mentoring patients. This is a quick read. My only complaint is that I do wish that there was more practical information and tips. It’s a bit lacking in that area.

Indeed an excellent book for anyone--but specially for anyone with the disease as well as his/her family. Dr. Okun sure has a way with words--in such a way that even myself can understand! Amazing! I can definitely see everything we went through in my wife's PD diagnostics--which took many years.
I can definitely appreciate why so many doctors do not even think about this alternative---although, by now--all Hospitals should have developed their own--in house training programs so that--everyone is involved in finding/identifying/confirming this so elusive diagnostic.

i feel like there's good intentions here, but that there's got to be better books about the subject, and I'll be looking for those.

This has some nice overview and general crucial info that can be so hard to get from lazy and / or hack doctors.

The language is so dry it makes things that probably aren't as confusing more confusing sometimes.

A lot of platitudes I just don't need. If this book had given more practical information for some of these bullet points I'd be more prone to just let them in.

The dude who wrote it sounds like a good doc.

All this to say, if you're desperate for more info like I've been you'll get a couple little things out if this and it only takes a couple hours to read so it doesn't hurt, but I'll be looking for better.

I was diagnosed 2 years ago at age 63. Symptoms were tremor in right leg, loss of handwriting ability,My normally beautiful cursive writing was now small cramped printing and soft voice. I also had difficulty rising from a seated position and have balance issues. I started out taking only Azilect, then Mirapex, and then Sinemet. Extremely effective illumination of methodology to cope with Parkinson's diagnosis

This book should handed out to parkinsons patients by Neurologists as soon as they utter the words " you have parkinsons " . It answers in great detail most of the questions new patients have about parkinsons. It provides readers with the tools to create a successful blue print to a success plan in dealing with Parkinson's. You don't have to be a doctor or medical professional to understand it . Care givers with Parkinson's patients should also read this book as it provides clear guidelines on what the expectations are for successful and effective care giving. Kudos to the author of this book. Nailed it!

I stopped most of my Parkinson’s disease medications due to severe side effects and I started on herbal treatments from Limitless Herbs Centre (Limitlesshealthcenter. com), the treatment has made a very huge difference for me. I have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease since 2010, by the VA. I found that none of the current medications worked (side effects for me). I currently take pramipexole dihydrochloride three times daily. It isn’t working well neither. I still have some tremors. Was on carbidopa levodopa but only lasted 90 minutes then wore off. Down side of carbidopa is after reaching max dosage it will no longer give relief, nothing was working for me and to make matters worse there has been little if any progress in finding a reliable medical treatment for Parkinson's disease without spending thousands of $, finally this year I was introduced to Health Herbs Clinic and their effective Parkinson’s herbal protocol.
