"Music is a Moral Law, It Gives Soul to the Universe"- Plato Sometimes it doesn't matter how long you know a person. The effect they can have on you can happen after four seconds or four years. In Chase Taylor's case - it's both. Avery McGuire doesn't just flip on a light inside of her - he sets a blaze to everything holding her back. After only a week together, he has to leave, but he strikes a match before walking away that won't easily burn out. Four years later, Chase finds herself face to face with the boy -now rock star - who changed everything. The same one she still can't admit to falling head over heels in love with. She has no idea that her world is about to get rocked, in more ways than one.
This book is about a couple Chase and Avery who meet one night and are instantly connected. They spend a week together fall in love but then are separated for four years. When they meet up again Avery is now a famous rockstar and Chase is finally being true to who she is. The only problem is that Avery has a girlfriend and Chase is still upset by the fact that Avery never came back.
I liked this story and enjoyed Chase and Avery but I loved Jesse. Jesse is one of the Avery's bandmates. I thought he was a much better choice for Chase and I liked them together much more than Avery. I didn't like how Chase and Avery lied about her identity to Jesse, and wished that they could have all been honest. I think I would have much rather this have been a menage romance and had all three of them be together. I think Chase definitely cared more about Jesse than she was willing to admit, and I hope he gets his happy ending because he definitely deserves it.

** 5 STARS ** Damn, that was fantastic! 1) why has it taken me so long to read this book and 2) WHY are there no more??? Help me out here, my heart has swelled for them but I must read more of Jesse's story!
This book has all the elements i love in RR! True love from before they broke out, true friendship and band brotherhood, true love of the music they were creating. My heart pounded, it swooned, it broke into a million pieces, and I wanted to bitch slap that stupid girlfriend!
What fantastic writing and story telling! I loved every bit of it!! But why are there no more! Please LA Bressett, you are now on my watch list for great new authors! Please, write more!
5 fantastic addictive stars!! I loved this book. I have a new band to crush on! This is one of those books you start reading and can't stop! I fell in love with these characters from the start and still love all of them including all the supporting characters.
This is the story of Chase Taylor and the boy that changed her life. I loved Chase. She has a different background story than most heroines. I love who she becomes. She is innocent in some ways but not really. Her love of music and her attitude are amazing, and I don't think she made any choices I wanted to throat punch her for the whole book, which rarely happens. She did make one shady choice, but she was kind of stuck when she did. :)
Avery is the boy who inspires Chase, the boy who changes the course of her life. He's as swoon worthy as ever. Hot as hell, tattooed musician who makes you want to lick him when you first meet him. He makes some dumb decisions, but is honestly trying to do the right thing for others. He has a hero complex and tries to do the right for everyone but makes a mess of things anyway.
Avery's garage band hits it big, and we get to meet the rest of his band. I absolutely love these characters. Jesse, Adam, and Kennedy are amazing! I love these band mates. Jesse is my favorite. I don't want to give anything away, but he is the hot as hell playboy turned one woman man that every girl loves. Adam and Kennedy are also great characters. They are all so different and I can't wait to get to know them all in the rest of the series. I also love Victoria, Chase's best friend.
For me, this book had it all. It had great main characters who are not perfect but extremely like-able. It had great banter and lots of fun flirting. It definitely had some HEAT with four very hot rockers. It had angst and things that I did not see coming. It grabbed onto me and did not let go. I did not want it to end. Go give this book a chance! I have definitely found a new band that I love and can't wait to get my hands on every member!
The good: Where can you go about reading a book where the female heroine goes from suppressed, ultimate good girl turned purple haired and tatted inspiring singer?...”Wild Chase” IS THAT BOOK!
What a refreshing and compelling read! The characters are likable and hold amazing chemistry. And, all of the musical references were on point.
The bad: Ugh, I hate love triangles! Sadly guys, Avery already has a girlfriend in the story when he reconnects with Chase after high school. *pouts* :(
My thoughts:
In my book, you can never go wrong about a tattooed and pierced rock star!! Woohoo!!
But, with that aside, I must say that “Wild Chase” was a definite shocker to me. I was already excited when coming into this read but L.A. Bessett went beyond my expectations.
Be warned though: as I mentioned in the beginning of my review, there is a love triangle for all of you who hate those. I know some of you heavily stray away from those kinds of reads so I would like to point that out before you embark on “Wild Chase.”
Aside from this though, I thought their story was hot and cute. Anyone who’s down for a re-kindled love story and a steamy rocker romance will want to pick this up!!
I would highly recommend this to any of my friends! A great book debut by L.A. Bessett!!
As you all know, I'm a big sucker for rock star romances, especially the ones that predate back before they became rock stars. Chase and Avery meet in while Chase is in her senior year of high school and under her religious parents strict rule. Avery, with his tattooed and pierced hotness, is EXACTLY what her parents don't want her to associate with. Of course, they make a quick but deep connection, and the directions their lives take make them lose each other. When they see each other again years later, Chase is an aspiring musician and Avery is the lead singer for a successful band. The connection is very much still there but it comes with a lot of complications that continue to snowball the more involved they become in each other's lives.
Chase's purple haired and tattooed adult self was quite the contradiction from the home-schooled sheltered girl she was when we first met her, really showing how much her parents were holding her back from being who she was. Despite her appearance, she was still very guarded and afraid to find love or even date after her one week with Avery all those years ago. I loved the interaction with her free spirited best friend, who indulged in life every chance she got and kept encouraging Chase to do the same.
Great debut from this author and I look forward to reading about all the men in Vengeful Honor (especially Jesse)!
So I think this is the second rocker book I have ever read, and now it is my absolute favorite!! I am an huge reader and when once I start a book and can not put it down, it is a clear sign that it is amazing! I was blown away with the advancement of the characters as the story continued AND ALL THE HOT AND STEAMY ROCKERS!!!! The 4 members of Vengeful Honor are swoon worthy and dream inducing! And can I just say, my want for purple hair is back! The characters make this book unforgettable and Miss Bressett has amazed me with her talents! If you want a book with hot boys, great music, all sorts of tats, crazy funny lovable best friends, big brother band mates, love, "sexy" moments, and amazing writing, this book is for you! I am definitely a new fan of L.A. Bressett and can not wait for the second book, I will be literally counting down the days! Please be supportive and buy her book, you wont regret it! Wild Chase
I absolutely loved this one. I couldn't believe that this was the authors first book, she blew me away! I was captivated from the beginning, and instantly fell in love with Chase and Avery. The flow of the story was perfect and once I started I couldn't keep it down. The boys of Venegful Honor are beyond smoking hot and can't wait for the next rocker and his story! ;)
I absolutely adored this book! I never enjoyed a rockstar book so much as this one, I have been laughing a lot and when the moment was there, I also felt the emotions deep inside me. The author did a great job with this one and I can not wait to read the second one! It's unbelievable that is the debut novel of this author. She has a great writing style which I absolutely adored. The perfect characters and their chit chats made it all complete.

I originally found Wild Chase on FictionPress about a year ago and completely fell in love with Chase and Avery’s story. It was so unexpected, the way it was told was so different from what had been used to, the tone and writing was such a unique style, I just really fell into everything about it. But…I never read the end. Now that I’ve read the polished up new version I couldn’t be any more satisfied with every aspect about this story.
Chase Melanie Taylor…I. Love. This. Girl. Everything about her screams genuine and authentic and real. She has passion and talent and so much desire in her that it just oozes out. I loved her from start to finish. At the beginning…my heart broke for her…she’s completely smothered, controlled by possibly the most harsh and strict parents on the face of the planet…no freedom whatsoever. It’s just a horribly depressing way to live – don’t get me wrong, I’m sure many others have it worse, but she’s got such a creative, free spirit and it’s drowned out by these overbearing jerks. Then after one night with one boy and one week of seeing what life can really be like, everything changes and four years later we see the real Chase…and she’s beautiful. And that damn gorgeous boy comes back…
'“You’re exactly the kind of girl I want you to be,” Avery spoke softly, rubbing the back of my palm with his thumb. I’m pretty sure my heart melted on the spot.'
Avery Nickolas McGuire…tall, blond and talented…he has a good heart, puts everybody before himself, has more talent in his little finger and just melts me in a puddle of goo. Shaggy blond hair, stormy grey eyes, sultry voice – he can sing…Yummm! Why did I love Avery? Remember that good heart and putting everybody before himself I mentioned? You have no idea how frustrating and yet achingly admirable those qualities are. There is and was never any doubt for me about his feelings for Chase. Regardless of the circumstances or situations there is one thing that is crystal clear from the time they meet until the end…he. Loves. Her. The end. All the rest of the stuff…yeah it is what it is, they try and make the best of the situation (I’m being vague to avoid spoilers) but trust me when I tell you this boy is a-freaking-mazing when it comes to that girl.
‘“Well, it’s true what they say. Everything’s better in Texas. Pretty sure the south has ruined me for all other places,” he said softly, his normal, flirtatious tone of voice practically nonexistent.’
So this is another one of those stories where I can’t really go into the plot too much because it gives away a lot of key pieces of the story…but there is something that I do have to talk about…the unexpected love triangle! So didn’t see that coming…at all, but I loved it. Jesse Morgan, another man I will profess my love for. Jesse…brings a smile to my face, he warms my heart…he’s a flirt, he’s so freaking cute and with those gorgeous blue eyes and black hair I just wanna hug him and hump him at the same time. Does what happens as far as Jesse concerns suck? Yeah…pretty much. But…it is done with purpose and leads into the second book of the Vengeful Honor series, which is Jesse’s book. (Yes…I said series! SQUEE!!!).
‘“Love sucks,” I confess, losing myself in his ocean blue eyes. He nods, holding my gaze, “Love blows.” “Love bites.” With a wicked gleam in his eyes, he leans in within an inch of my ear and whispers, “So do I.” Sweet. Baby. Jesus.’
Who else did I love in this book? Umm…that would be Victoria Pierce. Vic is Chase’s best friend/roommate and their dynamic is A-maze-ing! Phenomenal chemistry, the banter and dialogue is freaking hilarious and classic - SO similar to the way I am with my BFF…I freaking loved it. Vic is the only one that understands Chase and their bond is exactly what Chase needs to get her through everything with her parents and Avery and…pretty much life! And there are little hints here and there because there is a connection with Vic and another one of the band members…Kennedy Graham…*cough cough*cannot WAIT for their book*cough cough* And last but definitely not least is the final band member…Adam Stone. Oh my gawd…this boy cracked me up. Favorite Adam line… ”Nothing, I’ve just never had thoughts about doin unnatural things to a woman with breakfast food until just now.” Really?? Just…flat out love that boy. There wasn’t a whole lot I didn’t thoroughly enjoy…I mean the editing wasn’t perfect…but it wasn’t enough to completely distract me from enjoying myself.
“I fought for so long, telling myself that I didn’t love you, that I was too young to know what that meant. You know what it means, Avery? It means meeting someone and instantly knowing that you want to spend every single day looking into their eyes for the rest of your life. It means that you spend every day thinking about them…even when you try not to. It means never feeling anything for anyone else no matter how hard you try. It means having your heart smashed when you realize that they moved on and never felt any of the shit you’ve held onto for four damn years!”
Love is a perfect description of how I feel about every one of the characters. They are not without flaws or imperfections, but they are all so uniquely different. It’s not your classic rock band type, at least it wasn’t for me. I can’t really quite put my finger on what specifically makes them so original but the whole dynamic mixed with their personalities just completely rocked my face off. And like I said…it’s a Series!!!! My bread and butter…the thing I love the most and that always makes me SQUEE!!! And my poor, sweet, broken Jesse is up next…and man does he deserve an HEA badly. Wild Chase was a surprisingly awesome kick off to a great new series that I cannot wait to devour!
She’s eighteen and he’s 21. She’s there to sing on stage for the first time ever on stage. He’s there celebrating with his brother.
Sparks fly…
A kiss is shared. A few hours of talking. Chase leaves to go home with her best friend Vic. She doesn’t know if she’ll see Avery again. But she does the very next day when he shows up in her hometown. They end up spending a few days seeing each other. Just long enough to share an intimate moment and for just long enough for Chase to fall in love.
They both know that Avery has to leave for New York. Chase knows her parents would never condone her seeing Avery. Her parents OMG I really did not like her parents. I’m sure there are some people out there that are religious and raise their children like that but I have a hard time distinguishing where it crosses over to abuse. Chase isn’t abused in the physical sense. She’s just very sheltered. No music, no tv, no computer on school, church, and chores. She craves music though and she hides from them her abilities to sing.
I won’t share what happens but the poop hits the fan and poof it’s now 4 years later.
Avery is now a rock star and Chase is struggling to get into the music industry.
Chase and Vic are still bff’s and living together. I really really liked Vic. I don’t know what it is about stories with girlfriends but I always end up liking the best friend. They tend to have killer personalities and Vic does not disappoint!
So to say things are complicated would be an understatement. Chase has been following her dreams and learning who she is. She’s no longer a brunette but now a purple haired, tattooed, and pierced beauty. Avery is very much attached when they finally do see each other again and this is where the story gets interesting.
Chase gets to meet Avery’s band members, who make up the Vengeful Honor. All of these guys have big personalities and I can really see myself loving them all. I can’t wait to see where this series goes. Anyway…..with Avery unavailable and his band member Jesse showing interest in Chase….well there ensues the craziness.
This is one hell of a love triangle.
Avery pretty much pushes Chase into Jesse’s arms. A confused, somewhat naive Chase allows herself to be pushed. Jesse is blissfully unaware. It was all a big mess if you ask me.
I didn’t really take to Avery like I had hoped. He showed some promise in the beginning but then he sort of fizzled out for me. I honestly didn’t think he was interested in Chase. I believed his “let’s be friends” story. He just came across as wussy and almost uncaring. I don’t know he was confusing to me. Until the end. In the end he put on his big girl panties and finally I saw the Avery that deserved Chase.
Avery, I really liked. I’m all for strong women and she definitely comes across as a defiant little thing. I liked wild Chase. She was fun and quirky and I liked that she knew who she was and who she wanted to be. I also liked her internal struggles for Avery and Jesse. The conflict felt real and the emotions were spot on. I could definitely believe what she was going through.
Jesse, Jesse, Jesse
sigh…
I fell hard for Jesse. I was actually rooting for Jesse. I wanted Chase and Jesse to stay together and make sexy beautiful music together. He for me was the star of this book. He was honest. He was gorgeous. I felt like I could really hear him in my head by the description the author gives us of his voice. I felt connected to Jesse and I just wanted more and more and more of him.
But he’s a causality in this love triangle and my silver lining is knowing that book 2 is his story.
My biggest issue with this book? The names of the characters.
Chase and Avery
My husband was laughing at me while I grumbled and complained about how confused I was. I kept forgetting that Chase was the girl and Avery the boy. I would have to stop and go back and read again because I couldn’t understand why Avery was saying what I thought Chase should be saying. I HATED THEIR NAMES!
Silly right I mean in the big scheme of things it doesn’t make or break a story? What can I say, I was confused? :-)
I am very much looking forward to reading more from L.A. Bressett. I thought this was an awesome debut and I just know that Jesse’s story is going to ROCK!
*A copy of this book was kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*
What drew me to initially to Wild Chase was the cover I thought it was pretty, really stood out, and certainly made the book intriguing.
I really enjoyed Wild Chase, I will warn you there is a love triangle, and the aspect of it did frustrate me at times, but if I honest I didn’t really mind as I say I’m not a fan, but I secretly think I am. ☺ The storyline was entertaining, funny, sexy, sweet and moving at times. The drama the twist, and turns along the way hooked me from the start. It was an easy read I enjoyed the music references, and music roulette was a great game. I plan on playing that when I with a group of my friends.
Both Chase and Avery are likeable characters; I like the change in Chase, love the purple hair and the tattoos that she has. I did find Avery frustrating at times I could see why he did what he did, and why he made some of his choices, but at some point I was thinking man up, and grow a pair, and stop letting that bitch of a girlfriend manipulate you. I could feel the deep connection that Chase and Avery had, and I was rooting that they would get their HEA.
The story is told mainly told through Chase and Avery point of view, but I really like how the author added the POV of some of the supporting characters in the book. At first I thought it might not work, but it does, and the like added POV especially the boys that did make me laugh. The dialogue, and the banter between all the characters was really good.
Speaking of supporting character I liked Victoria she was a fun character, and a great best friend to Chase. The other hot sexy members of the band such as Jesse, Adam and Kennedy were all entertaining in different ways. However I just knew Olivia was going to be a pain, and so I didn’t like her.
Overall I’m impressed by L.A Bressett debut novel. I have definitely become a fan. I liked her writing style, and the characters that she created I instantly warmed to. I like the pace of the story, and felt it flowed really well and was such that once I started I couldn’t put it down. There was no cliffhanger just a cute little epilogue. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series Capturing Jesse.
I will say the names did throw me for a bit, and I’m sure it’s only because I’m English, but I have always seen Avery as girl name, and Chase as a boys name so I did have to get my head around that, but it didn’t spoil my enjoyment of the story.
If you are a fan of hot tattooed rockers, and you don’t mind a love triangle then you should 1-click this book as I don’t think you will be disappointed.

It means having your heart smashed when you realize that they moved on and never felt any of the shit you’ve held onto for four damn years!” ~Chase
I just finished Wild Chase and I just loved it! IT was so good and so funny. It just a good story all around. Chase and Avery meet at a bar one night that she is going to perform at for the first time. She runs into him and that was all it took! The only problem, he is only there for a week. They make the best of it but he does leave, leaving her broken hearted. Four years later, she is still trying to make it in the music industry really doing anything, as long as she is surrounded by music she is happy. We find out that Avery has made it big and yes she is envious but she is happy for him. Her best friend Victoria "Vic", is a model and needs help one day and needs Chase to come and fill in at a job. None other than Avery's band! Talk about awkward. What will Chase do when she comes face to face with Avery? How will Avery react when he sees her? You will have to read and see.....
I just loved this story, I was already hooked with the story line. Anything with rockers, tattoos and rock music. You had me there~! I thought the story flowed really well. The dialogue between everyone was good. You could get a feel for everyone and what was going on at the time. It was sexy, it was sweet, it was sad. At times, it just got to me. The secondary characters were awesome. I really enjoyed them all. Jesse(my favorite rocket!!!), Vic (the funniest girl) Kennedy (the sweet quiet rocket) Adam (the horn dog of them all) I just cannot wait to see what happens.
There wasn't anything I really disliked about the story. I can say for me it did start of a little slow but once it was four years later, I went really fast.
If you are looking for a story with rockers in it, this one is for you. DO NOT miss out on this one, you will regret it~!!
I absolutely loved this book. It had me hooked right from the beginning. There were so many things I loved about this book, I don't think I'm going to do it justice with this review.
The book starts off great and you feel instantly connected to the characters. Chase loves music and wants to pursue it, but is being weighed down by her very strict, religious parents. After a night out with her best friend, Vic, and meeting the guy to end all other guys for her, Avery, she finally decides to live life for herself.
The book flash forwards to 4 years later and we see how Chase and Vic's lives have changed for the better. Chase is still stuck on the boy from the past and hasn't managed to move on because she sees his face everywhere. His band made it big and now they're on every music magazine cover.
In a twist of fate, they end up meeting again and the band falls in love with Chase and her musical talent and beauty. Avery and Chase hide their past relationship from the rest of the band, though. Things get rocky and heated and it is one hell of a roller coaster ride. This book has everything I love in a book: hot rock stars, rekindled love, a tatted up girl with curves, and music. Beyond those four things there is love, friendship, and so much more.
I would highly, highly recommend this book to any one of my book friends. I had never heard of this author before, but I am so glad I read this book. Now, I'm so excited for the second installment of this series and to read more from this author.
OMG, I absolutely loved this book! You know it is an Awesome book when you can't put it down.
At first I felt bad for Chase and how she had to live with strict parents and practically had two different sides to her. I was soooo excited that she was passionate about music and sang...The author does a great job describing her voice attributes, so you can practically hear her sing! It was awesome! Chase then meets Avery right before her first time on stage and the attraction is definitely mutual. I just wanted to call him "Gray eyes" throughout the book! Unfortuantely things happen and they have to go their separate ways. The time they did spend together was memorable and made me very jealous of Chase... Damn it!
I love and hated Avery...He is a HOT Rockstar that has a passionate side to him as well as supportive. He definitely had me drooling at times!
I love Chase's transformation in the book and again the description was great because you could picture her perfectly! You will have to read this to find out what I am talking about!!
I encourage you to read this book. You WILL LOVE IT!! You will not be disappointed. I am looking forward to the next story!
I read this book thinking it would be another rocker love story but I was wrong.. The chemistry between Avery and Chase was great. How Chase changed within the 4 years since seeing Avery was incredible. Cant wait for jesse's story I loved him in this book. all the guys from the band are hot too. there stories should be next..
I am totally blown away. This was stunning.... I have read a lot about love and I still found myself struck with how special the connection is between Chase and Avery.
I also love how even the smallest of details tells a story. The tattoos....
Wild Chase was a fun read that kept me interested. I liked the dynamic between Chase and her best friend, and the humor added some light moments. The backstory with Avery and the music tie-ins were nice touches. The tattooed bad-boy angle worked well too. Overall, an enjoyable start to the series, and I’ll check out more from this author.
Chase Melanie Taylor has grown up in a sheltered life. No phone, no television, no boyfriend, she even has to ask permission to stay over with her best friend Victoria and even then getting her parents to agree takes a miracle. Her parents are heavily involved with their church and expect Chase to follow through and join a convent. But Chase doesn’t view that as her future. She wants just one chance, even just for one night to be someone else. Music is her passion, from hiding a stereo under her bed, to writing lyrics, and hiding a guitar she bought in the rooftop shed at work. Chase’s one shot to go up on stage and sing comes in the form of a customer at the pizza place where she works who happens to own a bar. Officially eighteen and with a little liquid courage she decides that it’s time to sing this one time before she gives up her dream once and for all. That is until she’s out on the dance floor with Vic and smacks right into Avery McGuire. With his grey eyes, blonde hair, and tattoos he’s everything that Chase could ever want in a man and he loves music just like she does. One chance meeting will change her forever. In the week they spend together Avery ruins her for every other man, claiming her in everyway possible before he leaves to return home to New York taking with him her heart. Avery says Chase deserves more out of life than the hand she’s been dealt and makes her promise she’ll make the most of her life and find her own way.
Changed by Avery, Chase leaves home and goes to stay with Victoria. Now four years later and living in Los Angeles, Chase is not the same girl she once was. She now covered in tattoos, piercings, and her hair yes ladies it’s purple. Chase is unique is every way and when the modeling agency Vic works for needs unique looking models for a shoot Vic convinces Chase to come and work with her. Problem? Unbeknownst to Chase and Victoria, the shoot is for none other than Vengeful Honor and guess who’s band that is? None other than the now grown up and engaged Avery McGuire. Chase is hoping that Avery doesn’t recognize her even changing her name for the day to her middle name Melanie. Just like she suspected, Avery doesn’t recognize her. He’s placed her from somewhere but it’s not until he sees the tattoo Chase got during his week’s visit does it click into place that Melanie is actually none other than his Chase.
Avery doesn’t tell his bandmates that the girl who’s lying across his lap is his Chase, simply leaving her as Melanie a cool chick who can sing and wants to help the band fix their song for their new album. While Avery tells Chase that he and his girlfriend Olivia are not engaged to get married, Avery is dead set on them being friends and nothing more. Chase has caught the eyes of his bandmate Jesse and Jesse wants a shot at her. In doing so, Chase cannot reveal her identity since everyone knows about his week in Texas and the girl who forever changed his life four years ago. Determined to do the same as Avery, Chase attempts to move on and even though her heart still beats for the man she fell in love with four years ago by dating Jesse. While Avery is attracted to Jessie physically and is falling for him, her heart cannot forget the man she’s been unable to let go of for the last four years. While Avery still has Olivia, he seems upset that Jessie and Chase are together. Both appear to have moved on, but what happens when they confront the feelings they still hold toward one another and what happens when those around discover they both withheld her identity from them all?
I admit in the beginning of the book I wasn’t a fan on Chase. She just seemed so sheltered and innocent, not fighting for the man she was in love with. I absolutely fell in love with her four years later when she changed everything about herself except for the fact that her love of music has only grown deeper as time has passed. She knows what he wants and goes after it, but deep down she’s still that same girl that Avery left behind, she’s just grown up into a different woman in terms of looks. Avery wants so much to be everyone’s hero and not hurt anyone’s feelings pretty much ignoring the way he feels himself in the process. Their journey was incredible to watch and I cannot wait to see what happens in the other books in this series and to see what happens in their future. I can’t say more than that cause saying so will ruin the ending of this book, all I can say is that it’s worth the read as I am sure the next book will be worth the read as well, 5 stars.

“No one should have to pretend to be something else when they are already special enough.”
Chase Taylor is essentially a modern day Cinderella when we meet her, forced to live a very sheltered life in Texas by her church-loving mother and minister father, not allowed any modern conveniences like a cell phone, TV or radio, and working from sunrise to sunset aside from going to school. Just getting her parents to allow her to enroll in public school rather than being home-schooled was a battle that, fortunately for her, she won. Her only friend Victoria does her best to help Chase get out of the house and around others her age, providing Chase’s only outlet to see and experience the world like the rest of her peers.
Chase has a secret love of music and very few people have heard her beautiful singing voice or experienced her guitar-playing abilities until the night of the opening scene of the story. A local bar owner who frequents the pizza joint Chase works at part-time has agreed to have her perform a few songs after overhearing her singing along to the jukebox- as long as she doesn't tell her parents since she is only 18. Enter Avery Maguire, Chase’s own personal tattooed and pierced Prince Charming who is a musician as well. She literally runs into him on the dance floor and the attraction is immediate on both sides. Considering that boys have never held much of an interest for Chase, she is more than a little surprised but is willing to take a chance on getting to know him.
In the course of a week, he turns her world on its head. The catch is that he is only in the area visiting family for a week and then he is leaving to go back to New York. I fell in love with Avery right alongside Chase during the course of that week, and I loved that he encouraged her to follow her own path in life.
“Chase Taylor, promise me that you’ll break free of this place one day. Don’t be two different people anymore. You don’t need to be anything more than who you are right now.”
Chase became a new person in those 7 days, gaining self- confidence and conviction to make a change. Victoria is the vivacious best friend that Chase needed to support her and is the friend that people want to be around. She is the one constant in Chase’s life, even 4 years later when the story jumps ahead. Living in L.A., Chase has been pursuing her dream of finding a job somewhere in the music industry with little success. She has never forgotten Avery, but for some reason, she has never attempted to contact him after leaving Texas. His band Vengeful Honor is now a rising star on the rock scene and they are on the verge of becoming superstars.
I was highly anticipating the inevitable re-connection between the two of them when I realized that they were going to cross paths again when Chase does Vic a favor by filling in for a model’s last minute cancellation at a photo shoot. Unfortunately in the years that have passed, Avery now has a steady girlfriend named Olivia who is representing herself to the public as his fiancee, so Chase decides to pass herself off as a model named Melanie rather than revealing her true identity to him. It doesn't take long for Avery to figure out who she is and, although he has never gotten over their time together either, a series of decisions made by both Chase and Avery start them down a path that only leads to complications and potential heartbreak. Olivia is the daughter of one of the record executives Vengeful Honor is signed to, and Jesse is Avery’s best friend and band mate who takes an interest in “Melanie”, never realizing who she really is to Avery. Cue the previously mentioned complications, especially when Avery gives her the green light to pursue things with Jesse.
When things finally come to a head between all of them, it gets a little ugly as expected. I’ll leave you to follow the rest of their journey and experience it for yourselves. It was definitely a wild ride at times, and I also definitely wanted to smack both Avery and Chase more than a few times through the second half of the book. My heart hurt for Jesse, and I definitely can’t wait to get his story “Capturing Jesse” which is due out in sometime in 2014.
The story of Avery and Chase is awesome!!! Avery is a rocker and is in a band that is just starting out which means he is not rich and successful. He is on his way to becoming famous and this is when he met Chase. Chase has grown up with strict parents who shelter her from the outside world. Her best friend Vic (Victoria) is the only one that knows how her home life is so Vic tries to always get Chase to experience being in the real world and just being young. Vic convinces Chase to sing at a small club just outside of town to show off her beautiful voice. Vic believes so much in Chase and truly is the best friend in the world.
When they get to the club Chase meets Avery who is your typical HOT ROCKER guy. Chase accidently bumps into Avery on the dance floor and after one look at her he is a goner. He comes over to introduce himself to Chase and dance with her. Avery tells her that he heard some teenage kid was going to be singing that night and made some other comments. Chase kept her mouth shut and when it was time to sing she left him to go perform. She rocks the stage and blows everybody away with her performance. Avery felt like a jerk for saying the things he did about her before he even knew who she was. It was so cute. Chase and Avery spend the rest of the night hanging out. She can’t get Avery out of her mind and thinks she will never see him again. He shows up at her door step and they spend the next few days with each other both knowing they may never see each other again. They have a special chemistry and it’s sad when Avery leaves. Avery leaves back to New York with his family and Chase goes back to reality. Chase was just beginning to live more and she experienced love like she never could she could.
Four years later a chance encounter has Avery and Chase seeing each other again. Only this time Chase has made a huge transformation. She has tattoos all over her body and her hair is purple. Chase has bloomed over the years and had to leave her family behind because they couldn’t accept her. When Chase and Avery see each other again, Avery is a famous rock star and has a girlfriend. In order to prevent his girlfriend and his band knowing that Chase is the same girl he left behind and loved with all his heart she is introduced as Melanie. Melanie is Chase’s middle name. Chase sees that he has a girlfriend and doesn’t want to break them up. She still loves him with all her heart and when Avery sees her the feeling is mutual. Chase gets to know the rest of his band and one of the band members by the name of Jesse likes her when he first meets her, but Jesse only knows her as Melanie. He is completely in the dark that she is Chase the same girl his best friend loved four years ago. Chase knows she can’t have Avery but at least she can be friends with Jesse. Jesse and Chase start off as friends but end up more than that and it kills Avery. It is up to Avery to decide if he can live with himself and ignore his true feelings for Chase or stay with his current girlfriend Olivia who by the way is a piece of work. She is the daughter of label’s CEO and he is not with her because he loves her but only because he feels obligated to stay with her for the band.
Chase also has to admit whether she is able to give Avery her heart again when she is just beginning to know a really good guy who will treat her like a princess. The struggle to make the choices they know they have to make and they both realize that no matter what they choose somebody is going to get hurt. Chase doesn’t want to hurt Jesse because he is an amazing guy but knows he will be hurt by this betrayal from her and his best friend Avery. I couldn’t put the book down and I know that you won’t be able to either. There is going to be another book after this one and I can’t wait.
When picking books to read, I am always drawn to books that have some sort of romance, BUT my favorite books involve rock stars! I am a sucker for a good rock star romance. Give me a hottie that has a bad boy vibe, tattoos, and plays in a band and you have got me hooked. Only problem is most of them seem unrealistic. Wild Chase is one of the few that starts in the very beginning of the story, before the guy becomes some egotistical cocky hottie that seems completely out of reach. The characters are relatable, the emotions are real, and the story grabs your attention and doesn't let go. I was absolutely hooked by this book within the first couple of pages. I finished reading it within a day and cannot wait for the next one in the series. Yes people, I said series! Once you get to the end of this book, you will definitely want more of the guys from Vengeful Honor.
OMG! Where do I even begin? Chase is a girl who has been raised to be nothing more than an innocent, church-going, country girl. To say her parents are strict and over bearing is putting it lightly. Her life basically consists of church, chores, and school work. She is forced to hide the part of herself that is drawn to loud music, tattoos, and cute boys. She also has to hide the fact that she has the voice of an angel and the desire to be involved with everything music. Now lets bring her best friend Victoria into the picture. Vic is the friend that pushes her to embrace her wild side and go for what she wants. That's how she finds herself at a bar, about to perform on stage for the first time. In an effort to distract Chase from her nerves, Vic drags Chase out onto the dance floor where she literally bumps into the hottie that will change her world. Avery is the blonde haired hottie with charcoal gray eyes, a lip ring on his bottom lip, and tattoos. He's intense, spontaneous, and sexy as hell with a voice that will make your panties melt. They instantly bond and Avery shows Chase that she shouldn't have to pretend to be someone she isn't. They fall hard and they fall fast, but unfortunately, circumstances lead to them being apart. But neither one is left the same. The courage the other has instilled in the other gives them the strength to take a new path from the one they were originally on.
To say you have to read this book just doesn't cut it. You HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK! There, that's better. Once you pick up this book you won't regret it. It causes you to think about what you would do if you were placed in the characters situations. The romance is raw, real, and definitely HOT. You won't regret adding this book to your to be read list and will be on pins and needles waiting on the follow up. So go check it out, and get hooked on the boys from Vengeful Honor! ~Lauren~
SEE FULL REVIEW HERE! *copy provided by author in return for an honest review* I loved this book! This is one of the best love triangle books I have read and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series.
Wild Chase is very well written, is packed with raw emotion and does not slow down at any time. I did not want this book to end.
All the characters are fantastic and there is a good variety of personalities involved. Chase lives in Texas and is stuck living at home with her very strict parents, living the life they want her to lead and unable to follow her own hopes and dreams. She goes along with this until one night her best friend helps to find a way to get her away from her parents for the night to follow her dreams of performing on stage. This is where she meets the man of her dreams, Avery. He is from New York and is in an aspiring rock band called Vengeful Honor. He can’t believe that she is subjected to the life she is and encourages her to get out and find herself. Avery gives Chase the strength to do just that only to disappear until four years later….The band have become a huge success and through a favour to her best friend Chase meets up with Avery once again and a love triangle with band mate Jesse, Avery’s best friend begins.
There are some steamy scenes in this book and it his hard to decide who you want Chase to end up with as both guys are good for her and you find yourself cheering for both them. Fortunately this book has a happy ending, no relationship cliffhanger, and a nice opening has been left for the next book in the series which centres around Jessie. If you love stories with rock stars or love triangles you will love this. Brilliant!
Who doesn't love a rocker book?... Hmm, That's what I thought! So, if you haven't read Wild Chase yet, what are you waiting for? You will not be disappointed.
First, I must say that I couldn't believe that this was the authors first book, she writes wonderfully. The story flowed perfectly and was captivated from the beginning and I instantly fell in love with Chase and Avery.
It starts where Chase is not really the girl she inspires to be due to her very strict parents. She lies to her parents that she will be sleeping over her best friend Vic's house but has other plans. Chase and Avery meet each other in the bar that night and have an instant connection. Unfortunately, Avery has to leave after only one week together.
Four years later, Chase is a new women... with purple hair and tattoos, inspiring to a musician. She ends up at a photo shoot for Avery's band but doesn't want him to know it's her so she goes by Melanie. Once Avery discovers its her, "his Chase" the connection is still there but unfortunately they can't be together and doesn't let the rest of the guys of Vengeful Honor know its her as well. Jesse, Avery's best friend and band mate has his eye on "Melanie"...this is where things get interesting.
Sorry, that's as all your getting out of me about that...you need to go pick up your copy to find out the rest. Let's just say it gets HOT and you will laugh and you might even cry but it is one amazing ride.
I give Wild Chase 5 Book Marks, this is a must read!! I cannot wait for the next book in this series, I love those boys of Vengeful Honor.
I won an ebook copy of this one and had to check it out. After I read the synopsis and looked at the cover, I knew I would love this one. Have you ever had a dream and didn't really know how to make it happen? That is what happens with Chase, she loves music, singing and playing her guitar. While raised up being home-schooled, going to church and doing chores. There was no T.V. or radio in her house and her room was all white, bed, walls, floors, everything. When she and her BFF Vic goes to a club so she can sing, she bumps into, Avery, a gorgeous guy and she has feelings surface that she has never felt before. When she is up on stage singing, Avery is mesmerized. They only have a week and she has to sneak to see him. After he leaves, she is lost. Missing him terribly and wants to see him. After her parents try to take her guitar away and everything else from her she leaves and her life is filled with color and tattoos. After four years, Chase and Vic are living in L.A. where Vic is a model and Chase works at a radio station. She goes to a model shoot with Vic and there he is, Avery and his bandmates are the photo shoot for their new album cover. She doesn't want to see him, he after all has a girlfriend and has apparently forgotten about her. There are a lot of emotions running throughout this story and I hope you will read it and enjoy it as I did. This is a first for me by L.A. Bressett and I look forward to reading more from her, Capturing Jesse (book 2) is out in 2014.
