Luminescence #2

Amethyst Tears

Rate this book
Lukas is alive.

I’m talking in the flesh, and he is just as dreamy as ever.

Problem is I haven’t told Gavin. There are just no words to tell someone that your dreams… really aren’t just dreams. And I’m a sucky liar. When the two actually met, it’s a freaking disaster. Like fists flying, magic swirling and tempers flaring.

Ugh. Boys.

But Lukas and I have something in common, other than sharing dreams. Our magic has similar signatures. Nobody knows what that means. And as much as I know that it kills Gavin, Lukas is helping me control it.

The more I use my magic, the more trouble seems to find me. Loads of it. Turns out my magic might just be more dangerous than anyone bargained for.

But mostly I’m scared that my worst nightmare might come true. I will hurt someone I love.

I almost didn't finish this book. Bri was pretty pathetic. She went back and forth between the two guys, she was a cheater. I loved Gavin and he deserved better. Bri was a very unsure girl. She kept saying she loved Gavin, but yet she kisses Luke. There was too much back and forth. Bri got on my nerves, but I wanted to know what happens so bad, so I kept reading.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

Review only posted on Amazon and Goodreads because it isn’t available of BookBub - I enjoyed this book. I’m glad that it took Gavin awhile to forgive Bri for firstly not telling him when she was dreaming about Lukas most her life but then not telling him as soon as she found out that he wasn’t just a figure of her imagination as he has every right to be angry. I don’t get Bri as Gavin also made her feel safe and that when she told Sophie about her and Gavin fighting and the reason for it, Bri also told her that Gavin makes her feel safe and Sophie asked her if she trusts him and there was no hesitation when she said yes but when Sophie asked her the same about Lukas she didn’t know but was still confused about what to do. Also Bri’s Kitten Lunar didn’t like Lukas at all but everyone else she was totally fine with like come on girl don’t be so stupid as animals are usually good judges of characters. When her Great Grandmother Morgana visited her in her dreams and told her that she was in danger and that she should worry about she let in her house and that it’s someone close to her and Bri clicked that it was her on sending messages on thanksgiving and Lukas was there then and she still didn’t think it could be him. She herself had doubts about Lukas but ignored it, her Great Grandmother Morgana even told her that she needs to trust in herself as it’ll keep her protected. Also when Sophie told her that part of her aura is missing and that only happens if someone has been touched by dark magic or they’ve been practicing dark magic themselves. I’m looking forward to reading the next book and finding out how the story finishes. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

I have to admit I was a little upset with Brianna throughout this book, I hate that she had any trouble atr all choosing between Gavin and Lucas! I mean! Gavin! Come on, their is no choice, only Gavin! Lucas is bad for her, I can feel it. I feel like he is the reason she is missing pieces of her Aura. Whatever happened in the dreamscape Bri and Lucas done was not good!
It takes awhile for Gavin to forgive our girl for not mentioning Lucas to him, which is understandable lol! Yea I'm totally team Gavin!

Brianna is having a hard time, she really is. A lot to take in and understand, a lot to cope with and alot to learn still. The fact that she is unmentionable #1 is a kinda serious thing and she is nowhere in her magic that should be!

Finally she gets her stuff together and starts to train to defend herself, but neither her or Gavin are prepared for how powerful Bri really is! She almost kills him, stealing his essence, his magic, not on purpose which is more frightening!

3 stars because of grammar mistakes. In a way this feels like Twilight. This story people and magic not vampire and werewolf. I'm probably going to get snard remarks from people but I'm not into reading about a gay guy who is her friend. At least he's not too much in the story and only in the book a few times.

Brianna is having a hard time with Lukas popping up in her dreams as she's dreamscaping with her magic that's she didn't know she's doing. Also wanted to be Gavin's girlfriend and he isn't happy finding out she is dreaming about another guy.

I'm still reading these books because I'm curious about Brianna's magic and why everyone wants to attack her. Also, where the black magic is coming from she doesn't know where it came from. Morgana is her many greats great grandma and how they keep dreamscaping since she's dead.

“This was a night I would never forget. Truly. I had the tramp stamp to prove it.”

Amethyst Tears ups the magic and danger. The development with Morgana and Brianna was really interesting. Both Morgana and Sophie are very intriguing side characters. I did find myself frustrated with Brianna and Gavin's behavior. Brianna is so oblivious to the signs presented to her and she fails to ask the right questions. Gavin acted like a baby for a good portion of the book.

However, I still liked this sequel in the Luminescence trilogy. Brianna's powers are pretty cool and I feel there is a lot left to explore.

It is a lot better than the first book however this time, I thought of Brianne as a beautiful, mad crazy, confuse and "no brains"....just clueless kind of bird. I know she was in a pickle with choosing Gavin or Lukas but man, as a reader, you know, who she belongs to all along. It still kept me on my toes reading more and more which J.L. Weil is good at for her readers. So, no sweat there and the ending isn't so bad. I can't wait to read/listen to the 3rd book. This is still fun and quick read for me!

I absolutely love the development of the lead character in this series! She doesn’t go from some naive nobody to a badass witch expert, but rather slowly learns about herself and her new world while making trips and slips along the way. As much as everyone wishes to chastise her choices....it’s easy to think back to young love and the dumb decisions we all made. The story is engaging and fun, with romance and danger and the epic mysteries the reader has front row seats to.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Bri is faced with coming to terms with what side of the magical spectrum she is taking on...the dark or the light. She has help trying to figure this out, but who will she end up with when all is said and done? I'd recommend this book for readers that enjoy YA paranormal romances and witches.

Just as good as the first book

Again, the book deserves a 5 star rating, but the substantial number of errors missed in editing made me dock one star. The second book was just as good as the first one and I cannot wait to read the final book! I kind of want to shake Bri for being so blind, but I know her ignorance keeps the story interesting.

Wonderful second book

This book was even better than the first. I like how Bri is beginning to grasp her “witchyness” and doesn’t want to be evil. The characters are fleshed out too.

If this wasn’t a part of a trilogy, I might’ve already DNFed it by now. This love triangle drama is so unnecessary and is killing any kind of plot development and story line. I want to get more to the actual meat of everything yet it’s just a back and forth and back and forth on Gavin and Lukas.

Another good story but this story has some heartbreaking parts to it, some aggravating parts to it, some surprises and shockers. I hated when Bri and Gavin were estranged, I don’t trust Lukas, and I am so worried for Bri. I am hoping Bri and Gavin get their happily ever after.

Better that Luminescence. The reviews deterred me, but glad I pushed through because it was worth it. Im going to read the last book in this series and try another one of her books and see. Im between usual series right now so this is just to pass the time… but it’s okay.

Loved it!

Great continuation of the series! I really love how different this book is! It is based on magic but the writing isn't too young!

Could of been better

Still enjoying the storyline, however it's too drawn out considering the potential. Not enough progression in the narrative. Overall a good enough read.

Editing

I would love to give this 5 stars, but the typos, extra words, missing words and garbled sentences make for a less pleasant read. Please fix the errors!

Great story. Bad editing.

Loved the storyline. But do you have an editor? Maybe an ARC given to fans or friends? I would definitely give this book more stars with less mistakes.

Good, but Brianna is clueless

So far, I like the series. I'm just annoyed with how Brianna can't figure out the reason she started practicing dark magic. The answer is so clear. I really wish she would ask the right questions. For instance, if she's a witch, then dig deep to find out more about her parents and aunt who's her mom sister. Actually her mom's twin if I remembering correctly.

I recommend this book. It's great for teens. Their make out sessions can get a little steamy, but so far, no sex. Just heavy kissing.

I honestly don't know how I'm going to make it through this book. The poor grammar and misuse of words and botching of everyday sayings is killing me. Please invest in a new editor if you have one at all. Seriously, I haven't made it through a page without getting pissed off. It truly looks like the book is written by someone who's first language is not English. I will update my review if I can make it through the book without asking for a refund.

So this book is a little easy to piece together, but lots of YA paranormal reads are. With Lukas making an appearance at the end of book 1 it's easy to know that book 2 will feature him more. It's also easy to figure out that he's not everything he's cracked up to be. The book could use a good proof reading, a few typos and errors that cause you to have to re read areas so that they'll make more sense but overall it's a great story line. Love this series.

Felt a little lackluster and characters were not very deep. Seem shallow and there is no real explanation or Brianna doesn't question things which leaves me wondering if we will ever get answers
