A cop looking for the truth. A dragon looking for revenge. Can they work together to find justice? Danica Morris had been a member of the Seattle Police Department for what felt like an eternity, but tonight, her hard work would finally pay off. She was wrapping up a nearly year-long investigation into a cult-led trafficking operation. Young people, mostly girls, were leaving home, joining the cult, and never being seen again. The bust had gone down like clockwork. Moving through the deserted warehouse she found a set of stairs that led down. She heard a haunting sound coming from the depths of the building. Taking a deep breath, she descended a set of stairs and rounded a stack of metal cages. There, chained to the floor with heavy iron links, was a dragon. A real-life, scaled, and winged dragon. Warrick, one of the Phantom Fire, had been chained and trapped in this cellar for a long time. Hearing someone approach he opens his eyes expecting his captors again. Only to find the most beautiful woman staring at him in shock, and he knew that she was his fated mate. His captors were nowhere to be found, and as their eyes met Danica couldn't help but feel a strange connection between them. Despite her better judgment, she sets Warrick free and the two embark on a journey to uncover the truth and seek justice. But when they find themselves in the middle of a centuries-old battle between dragons and humans, will they be able to work together to find a solution?

Another hit by Delta James! Warrick is a warrior for Phantom Fire, and Dani is a detective for the local police department. Dani discovers Warrick chained up after he was imprisoned by slavers. Dani was in for the shock of her life when she saw a dragon chained to the floor. She instinctively knows that she needs to help Warrick after he was a prisoner for months. Dani and Warrick felt connected the moment they saw each other. They also had a common goal: to put a stop to the slavers operation. Dani and Warrick were fated to be together. Dani was stubborn and needed to feel comfortable enough to bind herself to Warrick. Dani came to realize that she was destined to be with Warrick, who was possessive and dominating. I loved these two! They were both so gone for each other, and it was amazing to see Danica's transition to becoming a dragon herself.
*I received an ARC from the author for my honest review*
This was an exciting read that brought together dragon shifter Warrick and police detective Danica. She finds a dragon chained in the basement of her human trafficking case and decides to free him… He's shocked that it isn't his captors coming back to see him but his eternal flame. These two were so well matched in how they're wired to save and protect others. This is a romance with non-stop action, suspense, banter and just so much steam. I really enjoyed how their story unfolded and am looking forward to the next book in the series :D
I absolutely love this Dragon shifter series. The suspense is masterful and the romance is pure steam heat. Highly recommend! Must read.
Danica Morris is the lead investigative detective on the Seattle police department. She has been investigating a cult-led human trafficking operation for a year and has made a major bust.
Warrick is the first warrior of the Phantom Fire. He was sent to Seattle to find and rescue two missing drakaina who may have been taken by traffickers. His younger sister Esme was taken by traffickers a long time ago.
Warrick finds the two drakaina and rescued them from a slave auction but is captured and tortured for three months before Dani makes her bust. She rescue a him and they go to a remote yurt she has stayed at before. The next morning the cult members find them but she and Warrick escape to a dragon safe house, an old haunted looking mill. He realizes she is his eternal flame. They hookup and then he takes her to Dragonwyk. He meets with Talkie to discuss next steps and the return to the milk safe house. The cultists find them, kidnap Dani and leave Warrick for dead. He manages to activate a beacon to get help from his Phantom Fire brethren. They find Dani, rescue her and a group of captives and destroy the place they were kept. Dani and Warrick bond and get their HEA.

Warrick is one of the dragon shifter warriors of the Phantom Fire group. When his father found his mother, his Eternal Flame, he stepped down to be with her and no longer was immortal, and when Warrick came of age, he would take his father’s place in the Phantom Fire. Dragonwyk is their home in the Wind River Mountains (the Continental Divide) in Wyoming. Since Warrick is the best tracker of the group, he is sent in undercover to find two female dragon shifters (drakaina) have gone missing from the Seattle area from Ridley Monroe’s group. Finding out about Warrick’s past is heartbreaking. I cried. A lot. Things happen and Warrick is captured and tortured. But, since those of the Phantom Fire are immortal, he would survive and he does, until the cavalry arrive. This happens to be from someone unexpected- Detective Danica Morris, of the Seattle PD. As the youngest woman to ever make detective, she has had to be the best and to be focused on her career, etc. She went undercover and found out so much about the cult that was doing trafficking, but they were better to be called slavers. With the help of the FBI task force, Danica raids the cult and while alone, finds Warrick in dragon form and helps him. Honestly, I was shocked she didn’t freak out more as she didn’t know anything about the supernatural world before this. I was impressed with both Warrick and Danica. But since Warrick is so old, he is set mostly in his ways and his viewpoint on women is defo outdated, lol. I really enjoyed how Danica kicked butt in the book. The fight scenes are awesome as are the romance and AC was on because things got steamy between them. I really love this author and I’m systematically catching up on her books on Booksirens. Finding out answers to questions and a lot of reveals in this book was enthralling. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Wonderful middle book in the Winged Warriors trilogy (unless more are coming after book 3). Compelling read, easy to get through in one sitting.
Warrick and Danica are peas in a pod, both deeply believing in justice and protecting the vulnerable, one as an epic Warrior dragon and the other as a Seattle cop. They meet as Dani is leading a case to take down a cult that traffics young women and more... Warrick is a huge piece of "more." And we are getting clues as to the true plans of a"big bad" we have yet to determine. But how many parts to the enemy can there be?
I enjoyed the romance between Warrick and Dani. Their conversations were so good, and I spent a lot of time with a grin on my face as I was reading. Sweet and authentic from beginning to end. Could not ask for better dialog in a PNR.
Now, as often happens in this kind of saga, I am left with more questions than I started with... so many why and who issues. But along with Feral Mate, this is one of my favorite books in the entire larger arc. And again, I'm ready to get to the next book, "Dark Fire."
Cool, another collective noun to add to my arsenal of useless information 😉, 'a flight' of dragons!
The two main characters's (Dani & Warrick) have a fast track, steamy relationship. What stood out to me was the story of where they met, etc.
Dani meets Warrick when he is held captive in his dragon state and she rescues him. Warrick was captured when he went to rescue drakinias who had been held captive by traffickers. Dani, a detective, was there to bust the trafficking ring and release any captured women.
Dani and Warrick start dotting the i's and crossing the t's to realise that there os a lot more behind the trafficking than they realised; the Shadow League are behind the movement as well as they are after Warrick, an immortal.
Human and sex trafficking are aberrant and i applaud the author for highlighting this.

Independent reviewer for Book Sirens, I was gifted my copy of this book. This is book 2 in the Winged Warriors series, and while not necessary, I think it would help to read book one, Phantom Fire. It is a better read than this one, I thought. I liked this one, not as much as Phantom Fire though. It is, again, an easy read, one where you can see what's coming at you, but I found it a bit lacking in substance. There were some continuity errors too, that put my off a bit. The biggest one? Dani was dragged out of bed by the bad guys and kidnapped, tied to a pole. Then, all of a sudden, after being rescued by Warrick and the others, she manages to find a business card?? Where the hell FROM?? It's steamy and smexy, with both Warrick and Dani having powerful attraction, right from the start. That doesn't let up, at all and runs right through the shorter book, some 170 pages as opposed to the 220 pages for Phantom. This author has a massive back list, and I've read a fair few. I'm beginning to see a pattern. I usually liked the first book in the series, then the following books are a bit lacking. This is, though, the first time I've noticed such glaring errors. 3 stars, because I did finish it. *same worded review will appear elsewhere
Wild Fire is Warrick‘s story of his he is captured and tortured by traffickers and slavers before being released by Danica during a raid. Needless to say she was horrified to find what had happened to him and decided instead of telling her supervisors and other human authorities it would be best to set him free and figure out the rest later. This book enlightens much of how widespread and well organized the ring truly is and brings to light that the safety of humans and shifters alike are in danger.
This is a fast paced and overarching storyline that ties into multiple other shifter series set in motion that are moving towards a common sense of urgency and the need to find the big players. Well done.
Another hit by Ms. James!! Warwick is the first warrior for the Phantom Fire. Danica or Dani is lead investigator for the Seattle Police Department. Warrick is possessive, dominant and almost lost hope on ever finding his eternal flame. Dani gave up everything to focus on her career and on becoming the youngest detective wondering if it’s worth it. Dani found Warrick in his dragon form in the warehouse, sub level basement and knew she had to rescue him. It took Dani time to believe her and Warrick were fated mates and meant to be together.

This is a somewhat complicated story about immortal dragon shifters, their mates, and a dark presence that is threatening them. Dani is a cop who stumbles upon Warrick who is a captive. She frees him and gets wrapped up in the threat against him. Some things don't make a lot of sense such as how they were found and how she is taken from his bed naked one minute then dressed with cards to hand out. Those inconsistencies always distract me from the story. Instant lust, a smart stubborn woman, and an overbearing dragon shifter. Their story gets an HEA but there is lingering danger for the next book.
I didn’t like Warrick. He’s a walking red flag. He manipulates Dani into thinking she made decisions when in reality he decides for her and then either tells her what she’s gonna do, or manipulates her into doing it. And throwing a tantrum when she doesn’t immediately decide what he wants. Dani is supposed to be this driven, independent woman, but the second Warrick enters her life she’s a damsel in distress that needs her man to make the decisions for her. She never calls him out for anything. The story is nice, and if Warrick wasn’t such a toxic asshole, it would be rated a bit higher. Warrick, a dragon shifter from Phantom Fyre, is caputered during a rescue mission. Dani, human, is a cop that rescues a dragon shifter during a cult human trafficking raid. Turns out there's an evil entity working towards an unknown ends. Dani stumbles into it and now finds she's the internal flames ( fated mate) to Warrick. Together with the Phantom Fyre brother, they take out some of the operations of the cult, but find a deeper more sinister evidence of a sick mad man experiments and plans.
Intrigue, danger, action, adventure, mystery, possessive dragon shifter, sassy, brave, and fierce woman, fated mates, steamy, and happily-ever-mated. Very good story.
Another amazing book from Delta James, I love the Dragon series and this is great. Dani is a police officer a strong character who stands for what she believes is right and makes no bones about it. Warwick the Dragon Shifter is a great match with his strength and determination to be the best dragon/human he can possibly be. Loyalties to his people and Dani as the battle they fight is against a true evil. I think they have a mole in their company. I can feel the love the will share thru the ages and their desire to do what they can for the world. I can't wait for more!
This book was fantastic. I love the way you tie all the shifter books together with many of the same characters. Warrick and his police detective are so well suited to each other it's like they are almost one and the same. He takes her to heights she only dreamed about before quite literally.this story draws you in and makes you feel that you are part of it. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Its crazy how he was able 2 save 2 women that was kidnapped but yet these assholes went 2 far and captured him instead 2 hurt him. Who the help is behind this that constantly kidnaps women, and captures other species 4 sumthing naferous. Even though they found out sum disturbing evidence they will have 2 figure it out as they go and he found a surprise that saved him in more ways than 1. What will happen 2 her? It was good and it seems like they might b able 2 find a few unexpected moments.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I had such a lovely experience reading about Warrick and Danica, they were so sweet and so true from the very beginning. She was the hero and such a kick-ass Alpha female, their relationship is filled with understanding and support. If you are looking for a book that is filled with adventure and girl power this is the book for you.
Wild Fire is book two in the winged warriors series by Delta James. I liked the book but felt like it wasn’t as action driven as I thought it would be with the first warrior and a detective as the main characters. I look forward to continuing the series though as I am intrigued and want to know how it’ll turn out. I would give it 3.5/5 stars. This series of books are so good. Well written, exciting, emotional and so much more. the story line and characters are blended so well. The story grabs you and drags you in and you just can't put it down. She is a detective and he is with the winged warriors. They bust a slavery ring and she finds him chained in the basement. That start a hot relationship. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
All. An agree that most species are alike in just as many ways as they aren't. Species trafficking is abhorrent in any form. Who better to rack down the culprits then Dani and Warrick and of course PHANTOM FIRE. Eternal mates is like love at first sight or finding the elusive soul mate. Good job.
Entertaining fast-paced, action-packed, spicy paranormal romance. I love that Dani is a strong, capable police detective who is successful on her own. She and Warrick complimented each other so well, and I enjoyed their story.

This one was better than the first. The speech patterns were a little more modern.i liked the back story and the addition of women warriors. Entertaining byplay, but some areas where I had to skip over large sections cause there's unneeded stuff. Will check out the next to see if it steadily gets better.

This is Warrick and Dani story. I was super excited because they've appeared in other books. This story didn't disappoint. It kept me on the edge of my seat and bitting my nails. You could feel the attraction coming of the page. I also felt the fear several times.

The second story in the Winged Warriors, Detective Danica and Warrick, the last remaining member of the original twelve members of the Phantom Fire, meet when she rescues him. A engrossing story with a very good storyline that kept me turning pages. I want to read the next story. I received a copy of this book via Book Sirens and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A Detective and a Dragon Warrior make a very interesting couple with a up and down adventure for starters. She rescues him and then he has to rescue her, what a crazy adventure! All's well that ends well. I Loved It!!! Great PNR! No spoilers!
Dani and Warrick are perfect together. They're both strong, independent, loyal, do-gooders who are fiercly protective of those they love and society as a whole. Their story is full of suspense, danger, action, heat, and a soul-searing love. It sucked me in quickly and the ending came much too soon.
OMG I love this story … I wasn’t sure because it’s about dragon shifters but I was surprised …. What a terrific tale this is .. the author did an amazing job … I had all kinds of feels … happy, sad, and happy again … just WOW .,, you have to read this for yourself … you definitely won’t be sorry !!
Delta James, I freaking loved this Wild Fire: A Small Town Dragon Shifter Romance (Winged Warriors Book 2). The call of the fated mate or eternal flame is intensely romantic and immediate. On to Book 3!!
Simply a very good read, A journey that hold you captive from beginning to end. This "Winged Warriors" series is very well written with well written characters, strong alpha men and women that take no prisoners and kick butt 😊, again a very well written story.
Dani and Warrick were wildfire personified. She was head strong and he was really stubborn. They are perfect for each other.Great story, who wouldn't want their own dragon to fly with.
