“‘Everybody in!’ Roger yelled over the radio. ‘Come on! Move it!’ Pilcher, though considerably older than the others, ran with surprising speed from the base of the Needle to the helicopter. Reynolds…brought up the rear, his M16 swinging left and right in case any targets popped up. ‘Evans,’ Reynolds said, “ETA on Pam.’ ‘She’s about a minute away.’ ‘And the abbies?’ ‘They’re right behind her.’”

The genius architect of Wayward Pines, David Pilcher, decides to lead a scouting party out of his secluded mountain fortress to make sure the dying world he once knew has disappeared. It has…mostly. But the abbies are out there, too—millions of monstrous reminders of what humanity has involved into. And every one of them wants to tear Pilcher and his crew apart.

Brett Battles’s Alone is another wildly inventive, hair-raising chapter in the Wayward Pines series.

Where is book 2? Loved that he put the Abbie’s thoughts about what is happening in the new world.

Very good wayward pines sequel. Pam needs to be stopped. Too bad she made it to the helicopter in time.

Lovely little short set in the Wayward Pines universe, good writing from Mr. Battles as we get two adventures for the price of one here as we follow Pilcher on an expedition and his daughter AJ has her own adventure.
The stories are woven together beautifully and the characters are well rounded and fleshed out for such a short.
I really am enjoying all these little Wayward Pines adventures and seeing other Authors take on the story.
Regards to the ending I wonder if Mitch is the lone hunter that returns in book 3 of the original trilogy after being out on his own in the wilderness for over 10 years?

Well worth your time and hard-earned cash, a must for a fan of the trilogy.

"Alone" is actually a pretty good story set in the Wayward Pines universe. The writing is good, but the ending is totally incomplete and unsatisfactory. That why it only gets 4 stars. Just finish the fricken book, Brett!

It was exciting knowing more about Wayward Pines now that I'm watching the television series lol. I liked there was two adventures in one story. I just don't like how Mitch's story ended in mystery. Pam deserved death, not another man treat that's foul! I love the Abbie's part of the story so different to see them in a different way.

LOVED IT!!!!

I absolutely loved this book. The writing style fit right with the originals. The plot is perfect and keeps you glued to the book. You already know most of the characters. My only complaint is it was too short. I need more!

Great novella

Very cool addition to the Wayward Pines world. This is the first of this author that I've read; but I was certainly impressed with how similar it felt to the writing of Blake Crouch. Can't wait for the follow-up!

Pretty good little side-story about a daughter of Pilcher's, AJ, who decides to explore outside of the mountain. Also an interesting look into what part of the west coast looks like in the future...the ruins it's become, and more about Pam and her psychopathy.

Great read

This novella leaves you wanting more. You are in need to find out does the character make it out of his situation. Hope the author writes a follow up.

Great story by an accomplished author. Brett Battles moves into Wayward Pines and delivers a story that fits right in with the original in both tone and quality. Fun read.
