The NEW SPECIAL EDITION KISS & Tell MORE STORIES, MORE UNRELEASED PHOTOS, COLOR PHOTOS, plus much, much more! What's it like to be best friends with a Rock and Roll legend? Bob McAdams and Gordon G.G. Gebert have been asked that question more times than they care to remember, each having the dubious distinction of being members of the KISS inner circle. People never seem to get enough of all their outrageous stories and finally after re-telling these tales about Ace Frehley and KISS for the umpteen thousandth time - Bob and Gordon decided to tell their stories one last time in KISS and Tell! This book exposes the hidden reality of some of Rock and Roll's most excessive characters:
* Gene Simmons * Paul Stanley * Ace Frehley * Peter Criss *
Bob McAdams became Paul Frehley's closest childhood friend around 1963 and remained friends to adulthood where each served as Best Man at each other's weddings. Gordon G.G. Gebert became Bob's successor as best friend and cohort with Ace in 1985 until Gordon and Ace's controversial falling out in 1993. Together, they have put to pen the most fascinating expose' in recent memory, full of candid details surrounding the lives of rock and roll's most secretive band, whose superstar status was perhaps the least interesting aspect of their twisted persona. Yes, it's about the power, fame, money, sex and madness associated with rock and roll and the lives of those who came in contact with these living legends (and everything you'd expect from the world's greatest rock band on the planet.) But better still, there is a comic insanity in these episodes that go beyond cartoon characters or the fictional members of Spinal Tap than actual human beings. KISS and Tell is the epitome of the classic cliche Truth is stranger than fiction!
Here is a behind the scenes view of KISS with inside stories they do not want you to know.

I read KISS and Tell... a lot of it is true about Ace based on my first hand experience. - Gene Simmons
I admit that my infatuation with Kiss during my younger years still leads me to exploring their history even today. Kiss & Tell is written by two friends of Ace Frehley, both of whom grew increasingly disenchanted with the Kiss guitarist due to his drug, alcohol, and personal abuses. The 2-3 page situational stories that fill the book basically just expose how much of an ass Ace is to everyone (his wife, the other KISS members, fans, his friends). The problem here is that there is very little room for sympathy or empathy here because any grounded person wouldn't have this type of person in their life. Both guys stuck with Ace far too long, and the reader can only guess that access to his money, drugs, women, and fame were the things keeping them there. The book is definitely interesting to KISS fans, but holds virtually no interest to anyone else.

I hate to say that when I read this I didn’t read the updated edition but only the original as that was what I found, I might in the future go and look for it.
I can say at times this book definitely made me crack up laughing hard, especially the writing style. It’s kind of a bathroom book in how it’s written. It has some entertaining stories and ones that you see elsewhere mentioned in KISS books further verifying those stories. Should also be mentioned it does have some good in and outs on Frehley’s Comet as well as KISS and how it was going as a band.
But, at the same time especially once you get to the end of this book you start to recognize why it was written. Much of this is biased in the way that it’s only going to cover Ace’s flaws which requires someone to think deeper when reading about potential bias. It should also be noted though it’s mentioned much throughout even at the end; the Ace mentioned is the one who was on drugs. So in many ways, I disagree with many things mentioned as you are looking at someone dealing with addiction and the person with an addiction is not often their usual self.
I will say, one is absolutely allowed to be angry at the legal situation they were in and I’m not one to tell someone to not be angry at that situation or to not talk about it. It’s simply that once you get to the end and understanding the legal situation you think a bit deeper about all you just ingested and how this is showing the worst parts of a person for a reason.
Though, at times I will also say it’s hard to understand how people had put themselves through so much understanding where Ace was at at this time in his life… I always felt similar to Wendy Moore.. like where did you ever think not to get up and leave before the train wreck gets worse?

Written by two hangers-ons who become bitter when they are treated just as that. Both authors expect being rewarded and being close to Ace Frehley, who seems to use every fan in sight that he can make a buck off. Pretty entertaining at times.
