When reading On the Rocks: Teens and Alcohol by David Aretha, I learned the dangerous consequences of irresponsible drinking for all ages. It showed how many tragedies can happen due to alcoholism, including hospitalization and death. It showcased a clear explanation as to how drinking too much can really ruin a person's life. The person can lose family, friends, their job, and lose the person they used to be. Alcoholism can change you into a completely different person. For example, it can make you just angrier in general at people, break out into fights, and it can make you do unintelligent decisions like drinking and driving. So many people lose their lives due to drinking and driving accidents every year. The most common reason people become alcoholics and drink irresponsibly so frequently is to forget about stress or numb the pain of a current situation. To them, alcohol seems like the only way to help them feel better and forget about whatever is going on. Because of this, people of all ages have entered many help groups to get help and break free of their horrible drinking habits. My view point on the matter is that people of underage should not be sneaking alcohol behind adults backs and drinking irresponsibly. The consequences for their actions are too dangerous and life-threatening. I also think those struggling with the issue of alcoholism should seek help to rid of their addiction. I would recommend this book because its full of very interesting and surprising facts that will inform you all about alcoholism. It includes the symptoms, consequences, how to get help, and more useful information. If you read it you will understand a lot more about alcoholism and alcoholics.
