The Ghost of Colby Drive

Rate this book
When one door closes, another opens. or so they say. But what happens if that door is stuck? Some choices you are forced to confront, no matter how ugly or dangerous. Such is the doorstep of Alyson Bell, a tenacious teenage girl new to the rural town of Hollow Creek; a town rumored to be haunted by a ghostly spirit and a cat with more than the usual nine lives. Alyson tests her own strengths and weaknesses as she transitions into her new life, facing everyday teenage obstacles (bosoms and boyfriends), and hurdling over supernatural mysteries only she is predestined to encounter. Does one girl have what it takes to piece together the myriad of clues left behind in her century-old house to end a cat-astrophic curse, vanquish an evil soul-stealing vampire and still have time for a relationship with her new boyfriend, all before the next full moon?

A deliciously daring debut of idiosyncratic style and haunting memorability!

‘The Mis-Adventures of Alyson Bell’ is a sensational series of chilling supernatural mysticism and fantastical flair for fantasy/ paranormal romance readers!

‘When one door closes, another opens…or so they say! But what happens if that door is stuck? Some choices you are forced to confront, no matter how ugly or dangerous…’

With an inclination for the mysterious, an evidently deep-rooted fascination with magic and a romantic at heart Kristin Groulx is an innate writer of supreme aptitude. The remarkably sensational start of this new series is simply breathtaking; containing great premise for the subsequent books to follow henceforth. New girl in town Alyson Bell reminded me of Lena Duchannes {from Beautiful Creatures}, whose shrouded in sinister secrets and yet you feel instantly drawn to her dark magnetism! A ghostly spirit supposedly haunts Hollow Creek town and so instantly the scene is set for a mesmeric supernatural mystery of creepy curiosities and intensity. With archaic ruined mansions, superstitions, curses and spells this young teenager is tasked with vanquishing an evil soul-stealing Vampire before the next full moon!! The well-written, complex plot is richly evocative and seeped in delicious detail that transports you to the heart of a most extraordinary world of otherworldly wonders.

I simply loved how this book contained a beguiling blend of mystical ambience, magic and dazzling romance that melted my heart! The cast of captivating characters lured me into a deftly woven tale of supreme singularity and refreshing originality, which is a welcome edition to such a hugely popular genre. I wouldn’t hesitate in adding this brilliant book to your reading list - - as I now plunge into book 2 with eager enthusiasm and pent-up anticipation for what treats await. Never before have I felt so inwardly shaken by a story that’s unlike any YA Paranormal romance I have encountered before. This impacting novel of such substance and depth is truly terrific and leaves me with high expectations as to the next instalment within such an outlandish, eclectic series of profundity.

*I would like to thank the author for so kindly sending me a surprise signed, physical copy of her debut novel ‘The Ghost of Colby Drive’ to read! *
