Follow this multi-disciplinary, scientific study as it examines the evidence of a great global catastrophe that occurred only 11,500 years ago. Crustal shifting, the tilting of Earth's axis, mass extinctions, upthrusted mountain ranges, rising and shrinking land masses, and gigantic volcanic eruptions and earthquakes--all indicate that a fateful confrontation with a destructive cosmic visitor must have occurred. The abundant geological, biological, and climatological evidence from this dire event calls into question many geological theories and will awaken our memories to our true--and not-so-distant--past.
Immanuel Velikovsky rocked the scientific community in the 1950 and 60's with the publication of "Worlds in Collision," "Ages in Chaos," and "Earth in Upheaval." He proposed the unexpected and hard-to-believe thesis that early civilizations saw Venus erupt out of Jupiter, travel in an erratic orbit between Mars and Earth, and finally settle into its present orbit. He believed ancient myths telling of gods fighting in the sky and causing destruction on Earth were descriptions of what people actually saw, but could not understand. To them, the unstable planets looked like gods in the sky. Intriguing though! I remember reading the books. Velikovsky also planned a book explaining how the Deluge occurred, but, unfortunately, he died before he could write it.
Almost fifty years later, Allan and Delair published "Cataclysm!" Using more powerful analytical tools, they looked at the data Velikovsky examined and proposed a fresh thesis of their own. Like Velikovsky, they believed that folklore myths were eyewitness reports of what was seen in the sky. They described many of the myths Velikovsky described and added more that were unavailable to Velikovsky. From their research, they concluded that a fragment of an exploding supernova entered our solar system around 9500 B.C. This fragment "Phaeton-Marduk" caused one of Neptune's moons to become the planet Pluto. Phaeton-Marduk then pulled one of Saturn's moons, Chiron, away from Saturn making it the smallest planet in the Solar System. Chiron was first discovered in 1976. Phaeton-Marduk then caused the fragmentation of the planet Taimat. Taimat's fragments are now the asteroid belts between Jupiter and Mars. Taimat's moon, Kingu, went into orbit around Phaeton-Marduk. Phaeton-Marduk then came close to the Earth disturbing the Earth's rotation. The moon, Kingu, was pulled from Taimat by Earth's gravitation. Kingu fell apart, the pieces plunging into the Earth. These combined disturbances caused the Deluge. Phaeton-Marduk then flipped Venus upside down, causing it to have a backward rotation. Phaeton-Marduk finally fell into the sun.
Allan and Delair also described geological data showing large deposits of broken bones and shattered trees mixed together in heaps and data describing lakes that have beds resembling craters that might have been formed by aerial bombardment of huge meteors, and many other geological abnormalities. This fascinating book presents an interesting explanation of how the Deluge might have occurred. For readers interested in this subject, especially readers who were impressed by Velikovsky's books, "Cataclysm!" is a must-read.
This book is over 20 years old. The fact it is not better known testifies to the difficulty of challenging entrenched scientific notions, but science has a way of overcoming prejudices and so much evidence is marshaled in support of the main thesis that the book and its arguments must be taken seriously. In a nutshell, the authors review vast numbers of geological and biological sites that cannot be well-explained by conventional models of the ice age, and make a strong case that these sites are better explained by a near collision with a large cosmic body with an entourage of smaller bodies passing close to the Earth approximately 11,500 years ago. Recognizing that ancient humans would have observed such a collision and somehow survived it, they then reexamine ancient "myths" with an eye to seeing if these stories might, in fact, shed light on such a collision. To call the evidence compelling is an understatement. It is far more convincing than the arguments for a Pleistocene ice age and should become the new stepping off point for deeper inquiries into human history. I recommend this to everyone but with a caveat: as one reviewer noted, the first two parts which catalog the geologic and biologic arguments are extensive and can be tedious. Read at least some of this material to get a sense of its depth and breadth but, if you find your interest flagging, jump to part 3, which is a brief reiew of the ancient myths and proceed from there.
This Book Proves that the World-Wide Flood Occurred
This is definitely THE reference book to buy in hard copy and to keep in your oft-referenced go-to library. I was REALLY having a difficult time putting this book down – and I have so much else to read!
Allan and Delair have included profuse back-up documentation, referenced studies and a bibliography that is an avid researcher’s dream. As well as several Appendices that validate their contentions regarding the fact that there WAS a global deluge, if not more.
I also read this book simultaneously with a 2nd read of the book WHEN THE SKY FELL IN SEARCH OF ATLANTIS by Rand and Rose Flem-Ath, which is actually the first imprint of this book, and was recently re-released as Atlantis beneath the Ice: The Fate of the Lost Continent. It’s amazing how a good portion of the Flem-Ath’s theories are validated by Allan and Delair, not to mention the various and voluminous additional data compiled by these gentlemen.
This is the book that proves that not only was there a world-wide deluge or flood, but that something catastrophic happened to our planet approximately 10,500 or more years ago.
A remarkable book examining an ancient historical and Biblical event.
The only book I have ever read that deals with actual biblical events in the age of the Book of Genesis. Our science is finally advanced enough to give us a glimpse of a true world calamity.
This is a very interesting look at a picture that is formed by puzzle pieces coming from paleontology, geology, mythology and archaeology. All these fields provide clues that point to an event that drastically affected this planet around 9,500 BCE, but most of those clues typically don't get noticed by scientists who spend most of their time focusing and specializing in their own field. This book also addresses important questions that many researchers are aware of but seldom mention, like why do preserved mammoth carcasses and other evidence from northern Eurasia strongly indicate that it was a part of the world that had a much warmer climate than it does today at the same time that half of North America was buried under ice like Antarctica is today. I think there is enough evidence of past ice ages so I'm not totally on board with this book's claim that the ice age never really happened, but I think it is correct that some effects usually associated with the ice age are better explained by other causes. Lots of good food for thought here and the questions raised are certainly worth looking into more.
Cataclysm gives compelling evidence of the great deluge described in the Bible and throughout the entire planet. Though it favors one theory explaining the cause of the flood, the book also provides alternative explanations. Cataclysm was excellently researched and presented in a highly credible manner. I would highly recommend it even to the most agnostic readers out there.
