A biography of Chief Joseph, who led the Nez Percâe as they hid from, fought with, and finally surrendered to Army soldiers, and who later spoke in Washington, D.C. about the rights of his people.
I found this great book while at Barnes and Noble today. Chief Joseph was an amazing man and one I really admire! I remember learning about him growing up in Oregon. I've got more books I plan on reading about him. I got this book to add to our personal library of books, knowing that my son will soon be able to read this. I really admire Chief Joseph for staying true to his belief and his word, even when he was treated so poorly and horrbily.
This was another Library Sale grab for my Little Free Library.
A brief glance at the life of Chief Joseph and the constant struggles he saw his people through as the American government stole their land after finding gold on it and then chasing them across multiple states as they tried to find a new home while still fighting for the one they never stopped claiming.
There is a short bibliography in the back with suggestions for further reading, which I always appreciate in books like this, and those titles will be added to my to-read list as soon as possible.
